My 10-year old nephew watched SF and loved it and this was his first Bond movie ever. However, this little guy is indeed a rotund couch potato and video game addict and I've joked in the past that he can deftly stumble around a dark house with a soda in one hand and playing his game device in the other without the risk of dropping either. Another sad commentary about this nephew of mine is that he visited our home for the first time yesterday and he said, "you guys have a lot of books!" In fairness, a lot of those are novels, coffee-table books and comics in one way or another related to Bond

After three weeks at the top of the UK box office Skyfall has been dethroned by The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. Despite this, Skyfall has now surpassed Titanic to become the second highest grossing film of all time in the UK with £80.1 million ($127.4m). It now appears only a matter of time before it surpasses Avatar's record £94 million (149.6m) haul.
Skyfall earned $14.7 million on Friday which means it has become the first James Bond film to gross more than $200 million at the US box office. The previous highest US gross was Quantum of Solace' $168.3 million.
Perhaps this means a bigger budget for 24 to pay for the hollowed out Volcano
I thought Deakins and Mendes did a good job to cover it, but some of Skyfall looked like it was done on the cheap, particularly the Casino scene. Also Skyfall is the Bond film that never got out much, so perhaps a bigger budget would allow for some genuine location work/Globetrotting.

the stars got to do. I know DC was in Turkey, But did he get to go
to Shanghai at all. Or where all these scenes done in studio.

I believe that apart from Turkey everything else was in Blighty and studio trickery. To be fair they did well, but I would like to see more sumptuous locations used to their full potential.

The set design and art direction were excellent and up to the finest Bond standards. Deakins' cinematography was terrific along with the lighting (although I thought it looked superior in Digital IMAX than the Sony 4k projection I saw it in the second time).
Skyfall remained strong at the US box office over the five day Thanksgiving holiday period grossing $51 million. This brings the overall US total to $221.7 million. The total gross of all films at the US box office over the Thanksgiving holiday set a new record of $290 million.

I also missed some exotic locations. I only remember the shot of the boat as 'exotic'. (this doesn't mean that this was the only beautiful shot of course. This film is amazing in cinematography!)
The casino didn't look cheap to me. It didn't look fancy but it doesn't have to be. I really enjoyed these scene and feeling of it! The atmosphere for me was great in this scene!

I think it'll make a little under a billion, not counting China. I have no idea how much it will make in China, because the game is rigged there. Either way, SF has a good shot at being the #1 all time Bond film, even adjusting for inflation.

A couple of weeks ago I thought a billion dollars was rather optimistic and predicted something around $800 million. Now it has reached my prediction and is still going strong in countries like the US and UK. Your prediction of a little under a billion (not counting China) is looking pretty good right now.

According to MI6 Skyfall at second place this past weekend only earned 400,000 less than #1"Twilight" so it really is proving to have staying power on US screens. It would seem (in addition to being a really good film) that Bond appeals to a wider demographic than just the teen audiences that flock to see the "Twilight" films. Like CR, Skyfall will most likely still be hanging around in US theaters for New Years Eve which is traditionally a big box office day along with the XMAS holidays which will pump up the boxoffice that much more.

Immediately after i wrote that i thought it was too optimistic but i'm thinking it's even going to surpass $900mil. I think it's gonna come to a halt at $950mil.
