Trip to Saratoga

Just finished re-reading the novel and I've been fortunate enough to experience
some of the things Fleming writes in it such as eating at Sardis and driving up the Taconic Parkway (which is best done in the autumn when the leaves are
at their peak - it's amazing). However, in reading the chapter where Bond and
Leiter drive up to Saratoga, I found an interesting discrepancy. Fleming states Bond is going to stay at the Sagamore Hotel, and that it is only "a half mile from the Saratoga racetrack". However, when I did Google Earth, I found out there are a few hotels within a half mile to a mile distance from the track, but NOT the Sagamore. If is in fact in Bolton Landing on Lake George, and is 45 MILES from Saratoga. Can you explain this discrepancy? Were any of you aware of this, or has anyone discussed it before? Thanks.

Its possible they moved locations. That novel was written in ancient times.

Also just wanted to point out that, like Moonraker, the DAF novel is so much better than the movie. I'm halfway through it right now. Its really good so far.
