Some years ago I was amazed when a woman friend of mine, in her early 30s, had never heard of Richard Burton. But then, he did so many films and yet only a handful are very good - Where Eagles Dare, The Wild Geese, The Spy Who Came in from The Cold, Who's Afraid... and they don't get shown that much. Whereas his fame at the time was the Taylor soap opera also.
