Quite surprised that this hasn't been posted on watch porn Wednesday, Tudor has introduced the Black Bay now in black:

The watch still has the modified ETA 2824 but I hope for an update to the inhouse movement by next year {[]

Prefer the 'one-off' version. A watch where the lollipop seconds hand actually suits the rest of the dial ;)

You are right my friend - but as said it's a one-off - unfortunately.

So how much do you think will this unique piece bring?

Difficult to say - how much would you want to pay for a modern Tudor, albeit a one off?

It's certainly a beautiful piece, looking at those face on shots - a modern take on a vintage watch, done correctly. I'm so disappointed that they aren't making more than one, as I would buy one.

I like the original maroon bezel Black Bay on the distressed leather strap, but haven't taken the plunge. After trying one on, my only gripe was that I would have preferred the case a little smaller and slimmer.

The maroon Tudor Black Bay is certainly on my list and I hadn't seen the new black version.
Very nice! But I think I have enough black bezel submariner type watches...
I think the maroon version still remains on the list... {[]

Spent some time studying these today Higgy Baby. Good to see the Black bezel at last. Will they make it with the in-house movement next year do you think? I'm tempted as it stands. Would look great on the Goldfinger NATO.

Just wanted to point to John Mayer's (yes, THE JOHN MAYER) excellent review of the black Tudor Blackbay:

    http://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-new-tudor-heritage-black-bay-black-reference-79220n-by-john-mayer

Hodinkee is still my favourite read in all things watches but did become recently non-critical imo.
John's article is an exception to that which I really appreciate and you can feel, that he's honestly into watches

Nothing like reading a douchey multi-millionaire drone on and on about how affordable his $3000+ watch is. :s X-(

Sorry mate, but your response is wrong on so many levels.

    1. it's not his watch - he's gotten loaned it for a week.
    2. If you educate yourself a bit about mechanical wristwatches - you'd realize that US$ 3.000,-- is relatively cheap.
We have members here that pay that kind of money for a casual outdoor jacket ;)

I don't think that he's bragging around. When he writes about watches he shows a deep insight for the topic and a genuine passion for them.

Like his music or not, but his watch articles are phantastic - particularly as he's wealthy enough not to care for ad-clients and other sponsor restrictions. He can afford to give his honest opinion - including the bads.

Absolutely. Even on the exceptionally rare cases where he accidently gets something right. Never, ever agree with him. That way madness lies.

WOW...They will sell like hot-cakes! I was never too convinced by the red (or even the Blue) but these are great.

I could think of somewhere very appropriate to stick that baton :s

I know he was loaned the watch. I also know about the relative costs of automatic watches but I'm not a Watch Idiot Savant and have a different idea about "affordable." I rather enjoyed the comments in the other Tudor Black Bay review linked to in that article where one person makes the point he would never risk a $3000+ watch hiking; he'd wear a Seiko 5 or a G-Shock.

Not trying to start an argument, I just have a different viewpoint. I love seeing all your pictures of your various watches, so can we get the thread back on track?
