    Love those 007 shoes too but won't get much wear and well pricey.
    Gone for the moltons as I'll get serious wear out of them in the Autumn in the UK.
    Goes well with the 2 norway outfits.
    Besides I only have 3 boots to choose from now , tetbury, skye and molton :)) -{

    One of my hesitations with wholecut shoes like the Alex/James is that every time I've seen a pair they're a few years old and look blobby and misshapen. I know C&J are top tier but how does the Alex's shape hold over time?

    Based on the behind the scenes shots it looks like Bond wears the Alex/James with the tuxedo (which makes way more sense). He must have had his Highbury's on for filming above the knee that day.

    EDIT: Nevermind - I think those photos are from the photoshoot for their ad. But the description does imply he wears them with the tuxedo.

    As long as you look after them and use shoe trees, they will look as good as the first time you wore them.

    I've had the Camberleys for five years now (a very different shoe, I know) and worn them in rain, snow everything. There are slight indentations on the straps and where the straps sit, but the rest of the shoe/boot really is as good as the day I received them. C&J make outstanding footwear.

    I don't think he'll wear the Alex/James with the tuxedo. Probably C&J has realised the ad pairing the two because Craig has gone with Alex in the last two movie.
    From some bts footage it's obvious by the construction and the sole Craig will wear the Highbury with the tuxedo. I had posted an entry in the wardrobe thread too back on 24th of June.

    And then it makes much more sense: Paloma gives him the shoes for the tuxedo and Bond keeps them for the London grey/navy pow suits. I think the Alex/James (the most formal ones), will go with the mystery suit in mélange grey. If they follow the traditio, every Craig's movie ends with Bond in a suit... Maybe this time for a special occasion?

    But I want to wear Bond gear, not collect it.

    Those Moltons, though...:)

    I can't see derbys being worn with a tux. To me a wholecut is the most formal of shoes so tux makes sense (but I'm no fashionista)

    Those leather soles look slippery as ice, I wonder if DC would have his topied for a bit of traction?

    Was the price of the Molton’s in our special order the same as what they’re selling for now? I bought a pair in that order but can’t remember what they cost??

    The group buy amount was 363.35 GBP for the Moltons!

    I'm probably wrong and the James is probably just to celebrate the collaboration and Bond 25

    What page is this in the other thread?

    Here's my post I was referring to: https://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/991841/#p991841 (post 4758). If you enlarge the photo of Bond in tux you can clearly notice the typical derby structure

    And between us, the city rubber sole is far more comfortable if you have to run around like Bond

    Leather soles are beautiful, but until they're properly roughed up, it really can be like walking on ice. Offices and shopping centres with marble/faux marble/granite floors are a particular nightmare of mine. If I had a pound for every time I've almost gone flying I'd have enough to buy ten pairs of James!

    Wow nice shoes but for that price I would want the entire cow as well! :))

    Cheers :007)

    Totally agree. I have hardly worn my Church Phillip and the leather soles are battered. As much as the C&J James are really nice shoes I would be too scared to wear them for that price. The more I see the James, the more I want the bloody shoe trees.

    Has anyone in the US had trouble with C&J’s mail order form? I tried using t in the past and never heard from them. I’m thinking I should call an actual store. Does anyone have a contact?

    I was in Soho (NYC) this morning and happened to walk by the C&J store. The "James" was in the window display with all of the 007 fanfare. I didn't go inside as I was afraid I would have done a bad thing with the credit card! :)) I will say though, that they look very impressive and the quality is there. Certainly a pair to own for life. -{

    Bond wears derbies with his dinner jackets in Diamonds Are Forever and Casino Royale. They’re not formal enough by 1930s standards, but as long as they are on an elegant last with a plain or stitched cap toe and on leather soles, I think they’re good enough for black tie. Wholecuts are traditionally no more formal than cap-toe oxfords and are not a traditional shoe for black tie. They’re a good modern black tie shoe, but if you’re going by modern standards then I think three-eyelet derbies with a long, sleek plain toe are just as good for a modern black toe shoe.

    Leather soles are only slippery when new. I find that Dainite soles provide no more traction.

    Not sure where you are located stateside but i'd recommend you speak to the manager at the Crockett & Jones location at 11 east 55th Street in NYC. His name is Kevin and he can assist you with your mail order. The store phone # there is (212) 585-3800 or you can email them at newyork@crockettandjones.co.uk

    Hope this helps you out!

    I have kind of a noob footwear question - they describe the Molton as a winter boot. Does this mean it shouldn't be worn in summer? I'm in the market for a year-round chukka and, of all the Craig chukkas, I like the look for the Molton best.

    Depending on wear you live the Molton could be a winter boot but seeing as I live in upstate NY I wouldn't wear it during the winter as they use a ton of road salt up here! I don't see why you couldn't wear these as a year round boot but I find the dainite soles to be too firm for all day use bit your milage may very.

    I guess it's described as a winter boot due to the roughout material. The idea is (I guess) you don't have to be as careful as normal suede and the more knocks it takes the better it looks. It didn't feel any thicker than regular leather when I tried it on.

    I intend to buy a pair and wear it all year round as I do with all my boots. I work in construction so used to wearing tough heavy boots so that doesn't bother me anymore.

    I agree with Mike though, dainite isn't the best all day sole with lots of walking. I hate it with a passion. My steel toe work boots are more comfy than dainite boots so I will have mine replaced with vibram newflex by C&J when I buy it

    I already own the Molton boots from the previous AJB group sale. I would not describe these boots for winter. I live in Scotland and they are not particular warm. In fact they are the same as previous C&J Moltons except the leather is rough out not suede. I own Danner boots which i wear for lovely winters here, I definately wouldnt be wearing the Rough out Moltons.

    Shelton, does this material get as soft as regular suede with wear? Would be an ideal travel boot for me with vibram sole

    Dainite is BRUTAL to wear to the point that i've only worn my Ryder III's and Kemptons 2 or 3 times each because of the weight and lack of comfort. I can't believe that DC wears so many dainite soled shoes as Bond but maybe he wears some nice insoles. I think i will give the Highbury's a shot as they now have the City sole. Would anyone have some insight on the comfort of the city sole compared to dainite?
