I’m keeping those thoughts to myself for a while. I posted on here numerous times that they were in negotiations to move on. I first heard about it in maybe 2016 and then knew in 2018. “Knew” may be a bit strong as you still have some doubts as to the accuracy of the information, whomever tells you. But I’ve not been quiet in saying for years now that Babs is fed up with it and wants to move on. I kept quiet during the recent Amazon V Brocolli nonsense that was being posted recently as a few members on here decided to attack me personally about it. And I couldn’t really back it up without voicing my suspicions an out Amazon buying them out and then have more flak about backing it up. So I let it be, and now it’s be proven somewhat correct albeit they haven’t bought them out as I thought, but to all extent, they actually have. Creative control, is ALL. It’ll open up many exciting things. Decent prop replicas, toys, models, figures, books, documentaries, statues, lego films 😂 etc from the back catalogue. Going forward for new ‘content’ though. Hope springs eternal……. 🙄
😁 I fear as much. Yes, it seems like the Writing has been on the wall since 2015. I don't know what you were being attacked about but what was the purpose of the WSJ article? A negotiating tactic?

It’s not exactly something I’m happy about being right about 😫. But it could have been worse, very very slightly. Back in those days, I thought it would be Disney. You can now see why they decided to kill off ‘EONs’ Bond. It may be something more people embrace as being a brilliant move in future years.
No. That was purely, third, fourth and fifth party speculation without knowing the full facts. I’ve been quoted in the press as a close source to BB twice. And that’s utter bollox too. I don’t know her.

Not really, no. It didn't wreck the film for me, but the fact that they seemed to borrow from Austin Powers is somewhat galling 🤢

Gravitas is a good way of putting it, yes it does have weight. I've grown to like it more. I like the feel of Spectre but it doesn't come together as a story (despite some great sequences) but NTTD hangs together as a film better and has more weight, although for me it lacks a bit of the Bond feel here and there. If I you combine them into one I think you'd have a great Bond movie.
Disney would, indeed, be worse. But yeah, only slightly. Would’ve been better had a proper studio gotten hold of it. Although I guess it’s all just conglomerates and focus groups now.
Best bet would be if they plump for someone like Nolan and then give that person creative control. I feel like quality art, if at all, comes from a singular vision, not roundtable nonsense.
While my primary interest in Bond is with the Fleming novels, I hope those who prefer the celluloid 007 will be satisfied with the direction Amazon takes the franchise.

NTTD and, to a lesser extent, SP, are good, albeit flawed, films, like most in the series. And yet we love all the other films despite their flaws anyway.
We are wondering what fresh hell an Amazon Bond film may bring... but here's the funny thing. I can't possibly see how whatever they come up with could be more jarring than, say, a Connery Bond fan of the first four films tuning into Moore's The Spy Who Loved Me or Moonraker which are effectively a different genre with a different leading man in a different style.
I was a member of the James Bond British Fan Club back in the day and most of the articles ran with the idea that Connery was the real deal and under Moore they were really just waiting for the return of the Messiah, of course they got that and NSNA wasn't up to much. One of the jarring aspects of the films under both Brosnan and Craig is having different directors, you never quite knew what you were getting.
That was what I meant when I quoted an early @Loeffelholz post on this thread; he says he wants the traditional Fleming elements, a fan of the novels and other stuff, well, I like and want that kind of thing too but we're chalk and cheese on the movies, so there's no way of telling. The new team could do all that and you still don't know how it's going to turn out, or how it will be for everyone. Someone will be disappointed whichever way the take it.
The EON team were, I have to say, very good at marketing their movies and keeping the press onside, each one was a blockbuster and that cannot be downplayed.
On another note, I did a gig or shift with some young school-leavers at the end of last year and it had a James Bond theme to it, an Aston Martin DB5 replica was there and it evinced no interest in them, one said he'd never seen a Bond film. I was mock outraged but then, given he was 18, why should he have? Not been many Bonds in the last 10 years, have there?

But back then, they didn’t really change the main character aspects of Bond. They may have exaggerated them, dumbed some down, and surrounded him with alien characters, storylines, dialogue and characters. But it was recognisably Bond to some degree. That can be changed considerably. Whether it happens or not is to be seen. But it shifted in Craig's era. It can shift a whole lot more than that.
I just saw someone pointing out that it's a little ironic that 007 has now moved under exclusively American control right at the moment the US gives way to Russia, considering how he spent so many years battling Russia. Has Bond finally lost?
Thanks. Now you've planted this nightmare scenario into my head before I go to bed.

So you two are OK with the brother thing then? Really?

I think the biggest problem Spectre had is that the story should've been told in two movies not one, which I think was the original plan at first.
I wonder, will Amazon be to James Bond what Disney has been to Star Wars?

I believe I speak for Sir Miles as well as myself when I say it's nice to see so many old favourite names return. And Higgins.
No. Not Higgins. He's an idiot.
Why? Have we suddenly stopped including idiots in the forum? 😂
No, old and new fans are welcome. And Higgins.
Not at all. Stupid, stupid, stupid…not that he’s actually his brother…but it could - and should - have been tossed out by the writers.
You do 😁
Every village needs its idiot…and our green footwear toting giant is ours 😩🤭

I wonder if Amazon will use AI to bring past Bond actors, like Connery, back into the titular role.

I can safely say that you will never see an AI Connery. His family will never allow that. And I do know his family.

A DB5 replica? What was that out of interest?
