I'm so bored of hearing the same old names mentioned! Anyone think of anyone else? I recently saw on IMDB an Applyt TV show called The Buccaneers and two actors caught my eye - Guy Remmers and Jacob Ifan. Thoughts?
Must admit I've never even heard of that show so I couldn't say if I think these guys are up to it or not; it's nice to see some new names though. I'll have to check it out, thanks.
And for those folk who want a photograph to play Bond, I would say that I think Remmers looks very Dalton-like in this photo so that'll be enough for them 😝
We've been watching S2 of ONE PIECE on Netlix. There's a fella on there named Callum Kerr who I think might be someone to look at. He's Scottish and 31 years old.
He's got a certain degree of that 'it' factor in terms of looks, presence, demeanor, all that. All of that comes through even though he looks decidedly goofy in ONE PIECE, but he's playing an anime character so I'm gonna give him a lot of grace.
He's handsome without being TOO handsome, if you know what I mean.

I watched The Man From U.N.C.L.E. again last weekend…he’s not terrible in that, but he’s nothing more than a 2D character either - maybe that’s all down to the script, but I’m just not convinced by him at all…he just seems too stiff and wooden.
Harsh? I don’t think so…and it’s not a particularly good film either…perhaps this contributes to Cavill’s 2D performance…?
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is totally different…and it’s the only really good performance I’ve seen from Cavill…he is actually having fun with it - it’s as if he’s been allowed to take the handbrake off and go for it - I really like his performance in that and I just wonder why we don’t see more of it 🤷🏻♂️ I’m hoping he’s in the same mood for Highlander.
I think Cavill is, for the most part, a block of wood. I don't think he has much range at all but he's very, very good in specific roles where having a slightly wooden demeanor fit the character. I thought he was great in MI: FALLOUT, THE MAN OF STEEL, THE MAN FROM UNCLE, and a few other places.
I think he would have made for a great James Bond 15 years ago. His time has passed, though. If you want to make him an older 00 agent or M, then go for it.
I think he's not without charisma, and there are much worse leads in movies, but there are also much better too, and he'll never be up there as a hugely great one. He is good in Fallout, but I also remember watching him in Argylle where the whole point of the scene was to be a bit of a Bond spoof, with his superspy character doing some tongue-in-cheek verbal sparring with a sexy lady, and every line clunked to the floor. He couldn't seem to find any nuance or playfulness in there: just awful stuff.
Googling pics of Guy Remmers, I think you could be on to something there emtiem. He does look a bit like Dalton. He's the romantic lead in that Buccaneers TV show, so that's a mark in the plus column. According to IMDb he's 6ft1, 30 years old and he's English, three more pluses. Of course it's all in the audition, but I think Remmers is a good example of an unknown, with only one TV series under his belt, that people shouldn't dismiss.
Well that didn't take long. Info about actors auditioning is already surfacing, and it looks like Amazon are going young and unknown. A 26 year old with a very short resume.
To say the guy is an unknown is an understatement, he's done almost no TV and film. He's worked mostly in the theatre according to the Variety article. FYI Guy Remmers also did a lot of theatre before he recently did Buccaneers.

It's March 2026, we know for a fact the film doesn't arrive until 2028, so the actor could be anyone with about 22 months to go until filming starts.
Variety spoke to Knight about Peaky Blinders last week and asked him about Bond.

Lastly, speaking of films, how’s Bond going?
I mean, I can’t give any details, obviously, but I’m loving it. It’s so much fun.
Are we going to hear things soon?
Yeeesss. [Sounds unsure] Depends on what you mean by “soon,” but yeah. I mean, things are moving along quite nicely.
One actor's got about a third of the votes! Interesting,
None of those for me. He’s over 40 now but Cavill should be on the list.
if HIGHLANDER is a hit, then maybe. I think ARGYLLE really hurt him.
It showed how bad he is, sadly.

Yes, but not a very good one.
For me he is the list
Patrick Gibson name is obviously mentioned here
what are peoples view on this? If he actually gets the gig after the videogame😀
The version of him in the game looks much more suitable than the real thing, unfortunately.
For me he is the list
I think his time has past - and I’m very happy about that…and he’s currently very busy with Highlander - which will probably get a sequel…

Would you say he has rugged good looks?
I suppose. My wife certainly thought so...dammit.
😲😂
Sadly I think you are right - I really believe he deserved a shot at the role but too late now

Seems somewhat harsh - Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare for instance he was very unstiff in certain scenes.
Maybe in biased as I'm a big Henry and TMFU fan

ARGYLLE is terrible, full stop. Horrible. A complete waste of time, talent, and money.
The one and only.

🤣🤣🤣 Very flattering, @Sonero, but
(a) I'm far too old
(b) Someone who thinks they know better than anyone else wouldn't like a Scot as Bond
Yea, but he’d want to write the theme tune, sing the theme tune….👀🤣
