Bond DVD's in the US

Does anyone know if the new two disc Bond films will be making their way to the US? Either way, anyone think they're worthy buying?

I think Sony is waiting to the Blu-Ray players are ready. Then they will release a regular and HD set.

Its $400 AU down under. That works out to be 20 bucks a DVD. The usual price is closer to $30 - $35.

how much is the average DVD in the States. Find two thirds of that and times by twenty. Cant really help beyond that sorry.

They might be,Red--depending on what you're actually looking for.It's already been announced that these DVDs will all carry more special features(thus the 2nd disk).Some of these things will be more of those now extremely rare 007 documentaries/ special programs produced for TV years ago.Also,there'll be more documentaries on Fleming,the various filmmakers,etc., and even(reportedly)glimpses at some more 007 screentests.In addition,all of the Roger Moore DVDs will feature commentaries by Sir Roger,and overall,both the sound and picture quality are supposed to be much clearer than they were on many of the earlier DVDs.

Ultimately its going to be a judgment call...How much do you really want or need the newer DVDs?IMO Sir Roger's 7 disks might at least be worth a rental--if only to hear his recollections in regards to the making of his films.But hopefully each of these newly remastered DVDs will be reasonably priced and available for purchase separately,because right now I don't intend to buy all of them again.

Ive actually built up quite a little collections of DVDs. I keep them in my study (damn, that sounds like im a serious student.) My lovely computer plays movies, so I live a very happy life. (now I sound like a loserish student.)

In short, I will be VERY resistant to replacing my old school DVDs, and wont start buying others until ive got a brand spanking new computer that will play them.

At one time I owned all the Bond movies on VHS, saw the DVD marketplace coming and sold them all on Ebay, for pretty good sum. Since then I have purchased some (DN, GF, MWTGG, TSWLM, LTK and all of the Brosnan movies), not all of the Bond movies on DVD. I intend to purchase some, not all of the new DVD's. TB, FRWL and YOLT for sure, and maybe some others. I love TWINE so if they have good extras I may get that.

As for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD I am not purchasing anything until they come up with one standard and even then I will be in no hurry. I do not have SUCKER stamped on my forehead.

I think I'll hold off until I hear some reviews on the new DVD's A/V quality and based from them I might not double dip all of them just a few of my favorites that really need a upgrade. I hope the do come out with the release of the new bond film. However, if they only come out in HD-DVD/Blu-ray, I will be waiting until after the format wars to buy any.:# I question however the special features. I enjoyed the orginal documentaries, they were realy good and quite informative. However all of Brosnan's films had just fluff on them, so I hope they will be better this time around.
The ones I'd upgarde would be:FRWL
DN
TSWLM
OP
TND
GE
TLD and I'm on the fence about OHMSS
Of course if family and freinds opt to buy me other ones, I wouldn't complain:v

Does anyone know if they will be selling these DVD's individually in the States, or are we forced to buy a packaged set? Right now Amazon only shows the packaged sets. Hate the way they package these things, makes me not want to buy any.

they are selling the old single ones, but i dont think that they will sell them single for a while, considering how many you get the UE edition is quite cheap, and its the best value.

I sold all the old single dvds on ebay and got a good ammount for them.

You can always check Ebay or Half .com, I am sure somebody while be selling them as single units there.

I am definatly planing on purchaseing the Ultimate Edtion DVD's ,after having heard some much about them it sounds two good to pass up.
I am really into bonus stuff on DVD's the more the better I say, I was pretty disapointed on the special edition of TWINE it has the worst DVD bonus stuff ever. I mean the behind the scenes documentary only spent about five seconds with everyone being interviewed, and I learn anything that I didn't already know from somewhere else.

So TWINE is one DVD I am looking forward to getting,along with one of my all time favorites of the series TLD. I can't wait to see the press conference footage(which just happend to be held on the same day as my fourth birthday, October 5, 1986.) and the Dalton interview which MGM also used parts in the the documentary The James Bond Story.

I just wish SONY/MGM was putting them all the films out at once instead of in set like they have been doin over the past five years or so.

The TWINE edition had some nice features - such as several deleted scenes and the full boat chase. Additionally it had some other things, but sadly alot of the stuff is all promo stuff that they didnt use on the original DVD. GoldenEye is without a doubt, the bestest of all the new DVDs for added content.

Also, I know in Australia they have now started selling individual DVDs.

Its a shame there isnt a proper making of GE, but the the UE edition of GE is the best out of them all. Alot of the John Glen ones are good too, but some of them have pretty poor commentary from the exisiting DVDs. Micheal Apted for TWINE gives the best commentary.

I just picked up Volumes 1&2 today at Best Buy. It was 59.99 each plus tax. But, if you bought both sets, you can get them for $50.00 each. I spent $108.00 for both. Not to bad. That's about $10 a movie. And Volumes 3&4 come out Dec 12th.

That's about the same price as Wally-World, though Deep Discount has them at 53. And their free shipping wins me.

Not a bad price though. Hope you put it on the your BB card.

The Patrick Macnee narrated docs on the SE sets released in '00 were the main catalyst in determing whether I was going to upgrade. Superior picture quality is great, but since many of the people interviewed are no longer with us, I wouldn't have exhanged them for the world.

So it's terrific news they're retaining them on these Ultimate Editions!

Its a shame that they didnt have those types of features for the Brosnan movies.

Anyway, what I think made the new collection worth it was not the picture but was the many additional features that were added. You get to see the Roger in a 1964 skit where he plays Bond.

My brother and I broke down and bought Volumes I and II today at Best Buy. They have a deal where you can buy both for $100 and the DVD's also include the James Bond Scene It DVD game. All in all a good value as the movies end up costing $10 each and the Scene It is a nice little bonus.

Now to make sure they all work.

Still, I am looking forward to seeing how these remastered DVD's look on my plasma and upconverting DVD player.
