Is QOS the first filmed short story.

What i mean by this is,sure they filmed OP,FYEO and TLD etc, but these were expanded upon to make them bigger stories and bigger movies. Were as with QOS they seem to of delibrately made it a smaller story, less characterisation and a breakneck pace, Basicly the way a short story reads.
Would any members have a view on this.

I don't think I would see QoS as a filmed short story. I see it more as being like one of the shorter Bond novels such as CR, YOlT, TMWTGG. It's more developed than your average short story and has a wider scope in terms of characters, location and action.

Also, it has nothing to do with Fleming's short story, so I don't see it as a filmed short story, as it is not based on a short story except in title.

I see QOS as a 4th act of CR.

I see it as a footnote to Casino Royale.

As for it being short/fast paced - thats all due to Marc Forster wanting to do something different. I dont think it worked

I agree Golrush007, To actually film QOS as written would be a pretty boreing movie,What I mean in a film sence is. I think of it as a short story not an epic like GF for example.
And Taity I was amazed when i heard that Marc Forester had been picked to direct as he has no track record of action movies,With QOS he tried too many things, Fast cuts,slow-motion Intercutting one sequence with another.Infact everthing but the kitchen sink was thrown at it.IMHO he can't do action. He left no time between the action for the audiance to catch its breath, alittle more dialogue in places would of helped.
