i take it the 'release date' is of the trailer, not the actual film? in which case we've got a bit of a wait before seeing any more
I always figured it would be attached to Total Recall, but they're going to have to hustle if they're going to do that (prints of TR should be going out next week).
I have read that the imax trailer is attached to the dark Knight rises. Guess I will have to check it out in imax now but I think I will leave my 3 kids @ home because I don't want to take a loan out to see batman. :-D
I find this really frustrating. The only IMAX theater within reasonable distance of me was sold out all weekend.
I just want to see the damn trailer! Seeing as how a trailer is effectively a commercial, why would it make sense to limit the options for seeing it!? The people that are die-hard enough fans to shell out the money for the IMAX ticket just to see the trailer will do it anyway, whether it's available to watch online or not, because they want to see it on the big screen.
What confounds me the most is the lack of any information whatsoever. Before the teaser trailer was released, 007.com had a countdown to the trailer release date. This time there's absolutely no information about the new trailer whatsoever. You'd think they would at least have an announcement about it being viewable at IMAX theaters or something. Or at least an announcement about the ComicCon stuff.

Quite agree on all your points.
The trailers is simply an advert to get more people to see the film - so, logically, get it seen by as many people as possible! Not just comic-book/action movie BATMAN fans!!!
Unless EON are in league with the producers of the BATMAN film to just get more tickets sold for THAT movie!!!!????
Crazy situation. Show it to everyone, or don't show it at all.
Rumour has it that the IMAX trailer is being held back until after Daniel Craig's likely appearance as James Bond at the London Olympics opening ceremony on Friday. If Craig does indeed appear that will create massive publicity. The IMAX trailer would then be released a few days afterwards to keep the publicity wagon rolling.

I didn't think the IMAX trailer was going to be a general release? I'd heard it was exclusive to IMAX screenings only.
As far as I know, the IMAX trailer is exclusive to IMAX screenings only. The rumour is that it will be officially released online in the days following Daniel Craig's appearance as Bond at the opening ceremony of the Olympics on Friday. Time will tell.

I saw The Dark Knight Rises, Friday at an IMAX Theatre. The Skyfall trailer did play, strangely enough, right after the Bourne trailer played. For the record I am not a Craig fan so my view is probably tainted. The trailer, like almost all trailers was a quick edit of many scenes, mostly action scenes with Bond and M prominent. The trailer also made use of the word "bloody" at least twice, saw lots of Naomi Harris (blah) and very little of Bernice Marlowe. The clip also introduces Q in what I thought was an odd scene with Bond Reaction from the audience was muted, but it was muted for Bourne too. Maybe most, like me, just wanted the Dark Knight to get started.
Interesting news. The British Board of Film Classification have passed a new Skyfall trailer with a run time of 2 min 28 sec. Only eleven days ago they passed a trailer with a run time of 3 min 1sec. We now have two separate trailers. One of them is almost certainly the IMAX trailer, the second one is rumoured to be attached to Total Recall and will be released around 3rd August.
