Among other things I cut the grass with a scythe today. I believe it's fast becoming a lost art. I used the short type. I have also used the long scythe (the type Death favours), but I'm not good at it. Has anyone else scythed here?

It requires real skill to scythe, especially since nowadays it's nearly always used in uneven terrain. My grandmother thought me to use the short scythe. She spent most of her summers growing up weilding it, so she was a good teacher. The long scythe is traditionally considered a man's job, so my father thought me to use that one (to some extent)

Looking tidy, the odd fact was about how they would wear wooden shoes
