Yeah. When I first heard it I couldn't take it seriously, though I didn't let it bother me when watching the film. It bothered me more that they reused the name Franz for a Bond villain. There are so many other classic German names they could have gone with, like Ulrich or Manfred.
Yes, it is. The show called Saturday Night Live had Kevin Nealon and Dana Carvey play two bodybuilding characters named Hans and Franz. Kevin and Dana were on SNL in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Most recently the two played the characters again for a TV commercial. Can't remember what the product was.
Be that as it may, I thought the characters Hannes and Franz were in Ian Flemmings novels. Am I wrong?
