The Crazy Cat Person Thread

So, after creating the Tea Thread, another passion of mine that I've long intended to create a thread on here is cats. I see that we have no specific thread on cats. To fill this void, here is the AJB Cats Thread. I've taken the thread title from the expression "Crazy Cat Lady" and expanded its remit to make it more "gender neutral" for the modern world. I'm sure that there are just as many Crazy Cat Gentlemen out there as Crazy Cat Ladies, hence the much more inclusive title of this thread. Another expression that one hears a lot of now is that "Cats rule the internet" and this is no doubt true, considering all of the cute videos and pictures of cats out there as well as memes and other modern expressions of the Internet Age. This being so, I thought that it was high time that cats, as animals and pets, had a thread of their very own here on AJB. Hopefully cats will rule AJB too! ;)

So, this is the space to discuss all aspects of cats (though not Big Cats like tigers and leopards of course!). I myself currently have two cats: a tabby cat called Kitty who was born in 2012 and a black and white kitten called Millie who was born in late July 2017 and whom I have had as a pet since 18 September 2017. Before this, I had (along with Kitty) a cat called Lucy (it was my brother's cat but in later years it came to live with us of its own accord, as we do not own a dog and he does). Sadly, Lucy, who was around 12 years old or so (perhaps a bit older), died on Friday 10 March 2017. Posted below you can see a short video from January 2017 of a rare moment when (rather reluctantly on the part of Kitty) they both shared a cushion on the sofa together for the first time. Lucy and Kitty appear in the order of their names:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roOtvqRR_d4

So, I'd love to hear of your experiences with cats as pets or even other people's pets, strays etc. So are you a Crazy Cat Person?

Meow!

I've had more experiences with dogs than cats, and that's not a very positive thing since most of them are not that pleasant. For example, on my daily walk to school I encounter a dog that according to the smell of my shoes (and is is my shoes, I'm sure of it) either follows or leaves me alone. As for cats, I'll get back to you. They're definitely cute and definitely heartless.

Blofeld likes his pussies white. (It's supposed to sound that wrong)

If I ever got one, though. It'd probably be a Persian one (or an Angora) but I don't know if I would call him/her "Solomon" (that's the real name from the cat in YOLT).

I expected there to be a few jokes of this kind. It is still AJB after all. :D

"Person" contains "son" so it is not gender neutral :v

I have had a cat for a month. Her name is Daisy and is 12.5. She is pretty freaking cool. It was not intentional but She matches my apartment which is grey, yellow and white. Daisy was at the shelter for two years. Poor girl. She is not feeling great so I am taking her to the vet tomorrow. I have never really been a cat person but I totally get it now. She really adds to my day.

This is my cat, Daisy. She's 11. Her health has not been great recently. I have to give her medication 4-6 times a day.

    IMG_20180112_182935277.jpg

And this is Neo. He passed away six years ago from cancer.

    image14.jpg

I was not a cat person growing up. I hated my relatives' cats. Neo was a neighbor's cat. He was friends with everyone in the neighborhood. After his owners got divorced I ended up with him. Neo made me a cat person.

Question. What do you think of the name La Cheffe for a one-eyed cat?

It depends, does the eye bleed?

Alas no. She just has one eye. Her name is Jackie at the moment which I kind of hate.

I really like Leela. I am so kind of thinking Captain Rags or Gretta. And yes, she is shaved and has to wear a coat at the moment. I did not put that on her. She came that way. (I not so secretly love Hatchet Face since her one eye has a cataract but that might be mean.)

Thank you and thank you for asking. It is most likely kidney failure. I adopted Wink because they were buddies at the pound. Here is the "long lost" stare.

It's a cat. They could always find use for a switchblade.
