Some of these have a grain of truth in them, but don't be looking for accuracy.

Mid 1950s.(London.)

Chandler: Another drink, Ian?
Fleming: But of course. Three measures of Gordon's, one of-
Chandler: Yes, I think we've all got the recipe by now. Ian, you must try harder to merge genre fiction with your literary ambition.
Fleming: I know, but it's all getting too much for me. In fact, I'm considering not continuing the series, and that could mean the death of Bond.
Chandler: Oh, don't do that my boy!
Fleming: What do you mean?
Chandler: I'd never kill off Philip Marlowe, I might need him again someday. In my next book, I'm going to marry him off!
Fleming: Hmmm.... marry him off...
Chandler: Yes, less of a big sleep and more of a long goodbye.
Fleming: Thanks, Ray, I'll keep that in mind for later.
Chandler: So, you won't kill him off then?
Fleming: I'll give it some thought. I'd never say never again.
Chandler: Be careful now...

Late 1950s (Fleming’s Jamaica villa, Goldeneye)

Kevin: So, guys, it’s time we got down to writing this thing.
Ian: But of course. I have this idea about a plane-
Jack: A planeload of celebrities! It gets hijacked and Bond has to save them all?
Ian: Well, I was thinking more of a warplane with atomic bombs onboard.
Jack: Right! And it comes down in the Bahamas-
Ian: And an evil organisation steals the two bombs-
Jack: And threatens the Western powers-
Ian: And Bond gets sent there, where he meets-
Jack: His American pal Felix-
Ian: And the beautiful Domino, who is the mistress of the mysterious Largo-
Jack: Who works for the evil organisation-
Ian: Called SPECTRE. The leader is called Ernst Stavro Blofeld-
Jack: And their HQ is in Paris-
Ian: And they bribe a NATO pilot called Petacchi-
Jack: Whose sister is the beautiful Domino-
Ian: Who Bond seduces. There’s a lot of swimming underwater-
Jack: As Bond and Felix go hunting for the plane-
Ian: Which they find, but Largo has already hidden the bombs-
Jack: And we have this great underwater battle-
Ian: At the end of which Largo has Bond at his mercy, till he’s killed by Domino.
Kevin: (Scribbling away.) Sounds great guys. Let me just add “Written by Kevin McClory, Jack Whittingham and Ian Fleming” and we’re ready to go.

Late 1970s (On set.)

Roger: My name’s Bond, James Bond.
Lewis: Cut! And print! Ok, everyone, that’s us for the day.
Cubby: Well done as usual, Roger.
Roger: Thanks, Cubby. Fancy a game of backgammon?
Cubby: (Looks at watch.) Not enough time- let’s go and see how Maurice is doing shooting the titles.
(They wander over to the next set, where Maurice Binder is busy with a succession of beautiful models in various stages of nudity.)
Maurice: Hi guys, just give me a moment here.
(He kneels before one of the models and works away.)
Roger: I, er, hate to disturb a man at his work Maurice, but what exactly are you up to?
Maurice: I’m smoothing down her pubic hair with this Vaseline so it won’t show in silhouette. Got to keep the censor happy.
Cubby: (Jaw dropping.) Pubic hair? Vaseline?
Roger: Let me get this straight- Cubby, you’re the producer of this movie and I’m the star. Why does HE get all the good jobs?

Late 1980s. (On set, open air.)

John: Right, Tim, all I need is a few close-ups of you on this plane model and then we’ll get Paul Weston to take over for the really high shots.
Timothy: It doesn’t look that hard, John, I’d like to have a crack at that myself.
John: No can do, Tim, the insurance company won’t have it. Cubby would have both our heads.
Tim: Well, Cubby isn’t here- go on, let me try.
John: (Doubtfully.) Hmm… just be careful.
(Dalton gets onto the plane, high up in the air, as Glen starts filming. Behind them, Cubby’s Rolls drives up to the set and he gets out.)
Cubby: Morning, John.
John: Ah… hello, Cubby.
Cubby: Shooting going well? Where’s Tim?
John: (Stalling for time.) Tim?
Cubby: Yes, where’s Tim?
(Glen points abashedly up in the air.)
Cubby: GET HIM DOWN!!! GET HIM DOWN NOW!!!

Thought I'd start a thread for all sorts of Bond related bits and pieces.
As some times You can come across a Bond related story or link but
Find it doesn't really fit in any thread, as it may be only slightly connected
With 007.
Like yesterday in The Mirror, Ronan Keating stated he'd love to play Bond.
and as the musical he's in is produced by Barbara Broccoli, he might have
A chance ) .
Found this cutting on how Hoover didn't want the FBI mentioned in GF !
http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/dec/08/james-bond-fbi-hoover-spooked-ian-fleming
The files show how spooked the FBI became at the prospect of being portrayed in the 1964 Bond movie Goldfinger, in which 007 foils the eponymous baddie in an attempt to steal bullion from Fort Knox.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2866465/Was-plot-Spectre-Villains-steal-nine-luxury-Range-Rovers-set-star-new-James-Bond-film.html
Older story now, about the theft of several Rang Rovers on their way to SPECTRE.
It the cost that got me, I'd never thought about it before . £630,000

So I compiled a list out of curiosity and thought I might share this as far as my knowledge goes. Here are the known girls that show up chronologically throughout the James Bond opening credits:

From Russia With Love:
Julie Mendez (Belly dancer)

Goldfinger:
Margaret Nolan (The famous golden girl)

Thunderball:
Micky De Rauch, Christina Hayward (The girl with the ponytail swimming downwards on a red backdrop), Jean McGrath, Billie Bates and Rani Dube (All the known swimming girls)

You Only Live Twice:
Sylvana Henriques (Silhouette fan dancer)
Mai Ling (Japanese girl with traditional geisha hair, can be the only one seen whose visible against a volcanic backdrop)

Live and Let Die:
Joni Flynn (Brunette with long hair to waist, holding gun on a flaming background, only side view)

The Spy Who Loved Me:
Anna Noble (Brunette, one of the girls with a gun)
Carolyn Cheshire (Blonde, another girl with a gun, later appears in TMWTGG as the silhouette dancing girl against a sparking red background)
Perri Small (Also known as Penelope Smallbone, possibly the silhouette holding a Tommy gun)

For Your Eyes Only:
Sheena Easton (Only singer in titles, wearing a dress however)
Mary Stavin (Blonde, possibly her on the last frame? Or one of the silhouettes)

Octopussy:
Ann Jackson (Blonde girl laying down with a gun shooting a laser'd 007 away from herself)

A View to Kill:
Toni White (Blonde girl unzipping jacket in intro)
Jilly Johnson (Dancing girl on scope, highlighted in red)

The Living Daylights:
Catrina Skepper (Girl with shades and gun, also shows up at the end resting on the martini cup)

License to Kill:
Diana Lee-Hsu (Asian, one of the only visible girls while also being highlighted in colors which you can see during the sequence of the girls jumping on cue with gunshot, also the girl wearing transparent clothing on a casino backdrop)

Goldeneye:
Moni, Nikki Grosse and Vanessa Lee (The three silhouette girls, dancing around on the reflected waters, rising out of guns, and later clothed to destroy the hammer and sickle near the end, all these girls are hard to identify however with little luck)
Natasha Wightman (The face you see after the title shows near the dancing girls and also the girl Bond chases after on the sickle)
Lidja (A Russian model playing the double-faced Janus, no known information on her)

The World is Not Enough
Heidi Carr (One of the silhouette girls on leather, possibly the one with the dripping face with eyes only)

Die Another Day:
Jacqui Ainsley (One of the girls wearing a green screen suit portraying a firey elemental girl)
Aiko Horuichi (Only her eyes are shown, as they wanted an evil stare similar to the Korean woman torturing Bond. I was lucky to get that information as the website containing that segment is now long gone)

Quantum of Solace:
Jessica Grist (The first girl that shows herself rising from the dunes on a rising sun backdrop, also one of the silhouette and sand dancers, there is a photo of her on the internet performing this)
Franky Wedge (One of the silhouette/sand dancers)

Skyfall:
Ekaterina/Katya Zalitko (The first woman you see rising upward and one of the dancers in the double mirrored sequence)
Charlotte Edwards and Natasha (No known last name yet on the latter, but was confirmed to be pairing up with Charlotte)
Jarah Mariano (The girl with the gun pointed straight at the screen)

Spectre:
Mercedes Schindler (Blonde mirrored girl dancing with only backside shown in the intro)
Pip Phillips (Blonde girl near Bond at the end of the credits, and the last girl with the inky hair you see on the disappearing girls segment)
Jasmine Takacs (Girl in the octopus sequence with Bond)

Unknown/Unconfirmed:
Kim Mills (I heard it's probably Octopussy she showed up dancing around there, though this could be false)
Corrine Russell (Unknown silhouette from Octopussy?)

That's all I could find so far. Feel free to update these in the comments and maybe some BTS photos showcasing them. For example there is proof that someone owns the 35mm reels to the opening credits from Goldeneye but he's been ghosted for more than a decade. He has some of the reels scanned as you can find it here linking to a Google Site. Other than that, this took me WAY too long to find and compile so your welcome!

Here is a selection of some of Sean Connery’s quotes about playing James Bond. Compiled by Google Gemini

On the humor of Bond:

"The only thing I said to the producers was that the character had one defect, there was no humor about him; to get him accepted, they’d have to let me play him tongue-in-cheek, so people could laugh." (Playboy, 1965)

On Bond's personality:

"I don’t really suppose I’d like Bond if I met him. He’s not my kind of chap at all." (New York Times, 1964)

On Fleming's original vision:

"When I spoke about Bond with Fleming, he said that when the character was conceived, Bond was a very simple, straightforward, blunt instrument of the police force, a functionary who would carry out his job rather doggedly." (Playboy, 1965)

On his favorite:

"On the Bond front it would be From Russia With Love, because that story worked." (Golden Globes interview)

On the "Bond" label:

"I would never deny that Bond made me, and I’ll be everlastingly grateful to him. But that doesn’t make me a Bond-slave. I can cut the shackles free any time I want to." (New York Times, 1964)

As is broadly known, Sean Connery appears to wear a Rolex ref. 6538 in the first four Eon Productions Bond films. It is also generally known that he wore the watch on a leather strap in the first of the two films (“Dr. No” and “From Russia With Love”), and on a one-piece nylon strap in the latter two films (“Goldfinger” and “Thunderball”). It seems most likely that the Rolex was owned personally by Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, one of the producers. Details are quite scarce on the leather strap, and there exists a lot of misinformation about the nylon strap. There are no known photographs of the watch being worn by Broccoli, so it is not known for sure what strap or bracelet it was on just prior to the production of “Dr. No.”

THE LEATHER STRAP

It is often asserted that the strap was black, but on closer examination of many scenes from both “Dr. No” and “From Russia With Love,” it strongly appears to have been a dark brown color. The color of the buckle is not as clear cut; in the best still of the buckle I’ve seen it looks at first glance to be gold in color, but it could easily be silver in color and simply reflecting the tree Connery is resting against in the photo. There are very few photographs that do a good job of communicating the texture of the strap, but there is one publicly photo I’ve seen that seems to suggest it was alligator or crocodile. This is intriguing, as my understanding is that crocodile/alligator was quite expensive in the early sixties, and usually paired with gold watches (making the color of buckle perhaps likely to have been gold, as it appears). If it indeed was crocodile or alligator as it appears to have been, I’m inclined to believe this was the personal strap of Cubby Broccoli, as I think it unlikely the production would have given it that much attention. There is however one somewhat interesting peculiarity about the strap: If one looks closely at some stills, they appear to show that the strap was actually 19mm, not quite fitting the 20mm lugs of the Rolex. This is particularly apparent in a shot in “From Russia With Love” shortly before Bond steals the Lecter. This is fairly humorous, given the later nylon strap was 16mm, so at no point in time was the watch ever worn onscreen with a fitting strap.

THE NYLON STRAP

It is usually asserted that the nylon strap was a NATO variant, or at least a military strap of some description; this is nonsense:

The first specification for the NATO strap - DefStan 66-4 Issue 1 - was published in August of 1968; principal photography for “Goldfinger” began in January of 1964

Aside from being one piece nylon straps, there is very little in common between the NATO strap and the Bond strap; the NATO strap has metal keepers while the Bond strap has a fixed nylon keeper, the buckle of the NATO strap is rectangular while the buckle of the Bond strap is horseshoe shaped, the NATO strap uses chrome plated brass hardware while the Bond strap has the duller appearance of nickel plating, the NATO strap was defined as being either “steel gray” or “admiralty gray” (depending on the revision of the standard) while the Bond strap features black (or possibly dark blue) and green stripes with red piping, on paper the NATO strap was either 18.5mm or 18mm +/- 0.5mm (depending on the revision of the standard) while the Bond strap was 16mm.

I have access to a strap that appears to be almost identical to Bond strap, only with navy blue and red stripes with green piping, and brushed brass buckle (but of the right general shape). The only other difference I can detect is that the Bond strap appears to have had 7 holes, while this strap has 8. This strap has no military provenance, it appears to be just a cheap commercial watch strap, purchased by my dad perhaps 15 years ago at a (now demolished) antique shop in Bothell, Washington of all places.

In all likelihood the leather watch strap failed by the time principal photography of “Goldfinger” began necessitating a replacement, and the most expedient strap available was thrown on with next to no thought. It’s even possible the strap originally belonged to a member of the crew, like a grip. The Cuba scene featuring the best closeup of the watch in the whole series was filmed at Pinewood Studios very early in the production, making it likely this is the only strap worn on the watch in the film.

AFTER THUNDERBALL

At this point the watch drops completely off the map. We neither have solid evidence that Connery returned the watch to Broccoli, nor that Connery ever wore it again on or off screen. What is known is that by “You Only Live Twice” the relationship between Connery snd Broccoli became severely strained to say the least. Probably the best likely outcome is that Connery did in fact return the watch when their professional and personal relationship degraded, Broccoli kept but retired the watch, and it now exists today in the possession of the Broccoli family somewhere. If that’s not the case, it seems unlikely the watch will ever resurface with provenance

I really miss the quality of the recent Bond movie posters. No artwork, just photos of Bond in primarily static poses. They do nothing to convey the action, excitement, or memorable moments of the movies. I realize they are a product of the times, with many movies having cheap photos and photoshop illustration. It’s too bad.

Let me say upfront that I know James Bond adventures are not meant to be deep and meaningful- anyone who's seen MR would know that. They are there to be enjoyed first and foremost.
Nevertheless, there are some themes in there which enrich them- if one is interested enough. The book "Bond Films" (Virgin, 2002) by Jim Smith and Stephen Lavington touches on a few of these, and I'm hoping this thread can elaborate on their observations.

In another thread http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/44113/my-summer-love-letter-to-james-bond-a-series-of-bond-reviews/page/5/ I mentioned that FYEO has a subtext about aging, including Bond himself. For example, the very young Bibi rejects Kristatos as being too old, but throws herself at Bond, who politely rejects her as being too young. Perhaps ironically, Julian Glover is a good few years younger than Roger Moore in real life although his character is meant to be older. Tied in with this is the theme of revenge- specifically the possible uselessness of it- not only Melina's desire to avenge her parents but the whole Columbo/Kristatos simmering rivalry which dates back entire decades. I could point out more details (such as Jacoba Brink and her role) but would be happier if others could contribute.

As a relatively serious entry in the film series, it isn't too surprising that FYEO should have relatively serious themes (and of course these trace back, at least partially, to the Fleming short stories it was based on). What is surprising is that DAF should have a theme. It's one of the weaker Bond movies (much as I love it, I do have to admit that) and is usually held to be light and silly. The theme here is doubles/pairs and the list is endless. Blofeld employs two pairs of two assassins/bodyguards (Wint and Kidd. Bambi and Thumper), he doubles as Willard Whyte, there are two sets of diamonds, Bond doubles as Peter Franks, Blofeld creates doubles of himself.... you get the idea. Or perhaps the theme is falseness? Bond is a false Franks, Blofeld a false Whyte, one set of diamonds is false, Bond kills a false Blofeld (twice!), the moon walk is false....

OHMSS is about snobbery and titles. The two main characters (aside from Bond himself) are a man who wants to be a Count and a woman who doesn't want to be a Countess- she'd rather be Mrs James Bond. In her book "The Devil With James Bond!" (Knox, 1967), Ann S. Boyd draws parallels with Bond's villains and the Seven Deadly Sins- this story is her example of Pride. Obviously, Goldfinger is the representative of avarice- his greed for gold is the mainspring of the plot.

Smith and Lavington claim that LALD is about masks and personae- the most obvious example being Mr Big/Kananga of course. I'm not sure I 100% agree with that, but it's there if one looks for it.

Okay, there are a few examples. I'm happy to be shot down if anyone disagrees (Silhouette Man, this is very much your area) but would be even happier for us to discuss other examples- I could go on, especially with SF which is rich in subtext, but would like to open this up.

Later, "Blofeld" is wearing a neck brace, presumably the result of his injury in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Are we therefore supposed to believe that this sequence, which has nothing to do with the rest of the film, takes place soon after the events of the other film? Of course, Moore's Bond looks exactly the same as he does in the rest of the film, which presumably takes place in 1981.

Hello all.

Inspired by articles like this

https://notperfectedyet.wordpress.com/2020/07/23/five-changes-to-the-spectre-script-that-could-have-improved-the-film/

And this:

https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2567543/in-defense-spectre-james-bond-movie-unfair-rep-007-daniel-craig

I thought I would try to 'improve' Spectre. But there are ground rules. It can't be a page one rewrite, that would be too easy. Instead I will work within as much of the story as possible but fixing the 'problems' that many fans have with the film.

For example, while the third act will significantly change, the MI6 HQ demolition and bridge helicopter crash will still occur.

I have an idea for resolving the 'brother' plot point but won't reveal it for now.

The finished script won't be put online until next year hence the 2022 in the title.

Some key scenes are already done. Here is one, enjoy.

Someone Will Return.

This display, in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, sets Bond's Walther PPK against Dirty Harry's 44 Magnum, and whatever it was that Rambo used. By comparison, it looks like Bond's Walther is next for the same "lady's handbag" that DN's Quartermaster had in mind for the Beretta.

These DAF and 'Dirty Harry' posters caught my eye in the display case; the films are of the same vintage. The Magnum features heavily in the 'Dirty Harry' poster. The Walther in the DAF poster is metely a prop in Bond's conventional pose; the playboy idea being more to the fore.

Well, we're halfway through 2025! This year has gone way too fast for me. And for us Bond fans, there have been a lot of announcements that have us excited! Some predictions have come true, thankfully, and some announcements have been completely unexpected. As we come to the halfway mark of 2025, what are some other James Bond news that you hope to hear? Here are mine.

An official screenwriter(s) for Bond 26. NOT Purvis and Wade, please.

Pierce Brosnan 4K remaster collection announcement.

Some news on Iridescent by Gail Simone for Dynamite Comics.

An original Adult Bond adventure novel, or another spinoff series, from IFP. Preferably modern day.

Some more information and updates on 007 Cypher and First Light.

Some more info on James Bond and the Secret Academy, from M.W. Craven.

An official title for the Q Mysteries second book, and The 00-Trilogy Finale (for now).

Also, that The Hook and the Eye and Quantum of Menace make their October releases.

IFP publishing an affordable edition of Ian Fleming's recently unearthed Moonraker film script would be a nice treat for us literary Bond fans. It would make sense, as it is the 70th anniversary of Moonraker. Maybe, a Dynamite Comics version of the story. Unfortunately, it sounds like Van Jensen is done with Bond, for now.

Maybe a re-release of Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, for it's 10th anniversary.

The usual Bond research books.

Biographies of those associated with the series.

Above all, IFP restores Fleming's original text to his books.

That's all I can think of for now. To be honest, this list is somewhat from other lists that I've made on other Bond sites. I'm sure we'll be getting some unique announcements! We are being spoiled as Bond fans quite a bit this year so far!

I make short films (approx 10-20 minutes) using the video game Grand Theft Auto V. I write a plot and play out the scenes in the game. I then use an editor to turn it into a proper cinematic film. My favourite to make are my very own Bond films. I've just released my fifth Bond film, Live and Let Spy and it's on my playlist on YouTube here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiut1ttYy6Vci-UyxwFjT-QRq1Jc11lDf&si=msxXIEIj6vRcL2a3

They all have big Bond action and real Bond music. As a lifelong Bond fan I get a lot of enjoyment from making these.

Enjoy!
