The thing is Andy, i was doing my own thing, all i could think of was bastardise 2 Rolliflex cases, others was to make out of wood. Now if I had bothered to get the leather the sane colour it would have been very close to what we see on screen.
Plus I didnt have the money to custom build one -{
Sure is different nowadays regarding prop replicas. Many of the prop builders here (You know who you are) spend countless hours of searching the internet for clues as to the original parts that were used to make the props used in the film.
Now, you just have to have access to a computer and have the skill to virtually fabricate it.
Don't get me wrong...I'm glad these talented new prop makers are doing this because they will provide us with items that could otherwise be unavailable to us. I, myself, am working with two very talented modelers and look forward to adding their items to my collection. ---Ed

Yes, it is very rewarding to identify a prop on your own, without anyone's help. I've done this a handful of times, mostly with books and magazine props seen in the films.

The Decoder is the second prop I made couple of years ago.
After the "Saitek Joystick mine", the decoder sounded like the natural next step as its complexity is not so high(not talking about the electronic) and that no special tooling is mandatory.
I put the first bid in, and held the highest bid until just before it got sniped. I tried to sneak one last much higher bid in (giving myself plenty of time for once), but my bid took an unusually long time to load, and was still loading after the auction was over...

They plan the release for Goldeneye 25 birthday and post regular updates.
