Yorkshire Tea is not an evil company. ;)
Although fair play to you for wanting to
Have workers sacked, -{ Perhaps this
sort of attitude shows why the populist
Right is gaining a foothold once more ?

As smoking became less common many people working in tobacco companies lost their jobs, so did many tobacco farmers. When capital punishment stopped in the civilized world many executioners were laid off and people who made guillotines may have lost their jobs too. When rap music goes out of style many rappers and dancers with big butts may lose their jobs. It doesn't mean everyone wants those people to be unemployed. People just decided they didn't want the services they provided because of the nature of that service. If those people who lost their jobs started growing potatoes, making chips of the potatoes, became jailers, made prison bars, making real music, appeared in FHM magazine or found other gainful employment I'm sure no-one would mind. I even think Higgins doesn't mind people having jobs. :)

I do find it amusing for someone who says they'll fight Nazism, Yet wants to close
factories leading to unemployment, which is the very situation that produced the
Nazis in the first place :D So far from fighting them he's actually helping them to
    get members ! :))
I too hate Nazis ( even with being called one on this forum ) But I think full employment,
workers rights and a respect for the results of elections when people vote, will do much
    more to stamp it out.

I don't think anyone here wants unemployment on the common working man or woman. We may dislike what their workplace does, but we see unemployment as a goal in it self.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,795MI6 Agent
Anyway, you're right that unemployment can lead to fascism. It's no accident fascism and nazism got into power during economically tough times.

    Interesting comparisons.

So, one shows sympathy and understanding when people turn to Nazis after they have lost their job.

Yesterday, a Coors employee from Milwaukee who has previously lost his job there, killed 5 people at his former workplace.
Should we have sympathy with him because he lost his job and this all was the cause what happened and why he's done it?

Nestle in Africa dries out local springs because they drill deeply for their bottled water there and consequently sells the bottled water to those, who can't get drinking water from their dried out springs.

Thus, I boycot every Nestle product available and am asking everybody to do the same!
Nestle may employ lots of people in their water bottling branches and consequently many people may lose their jobs if the boycot is really successful. Do I have empathy with those workers?
    Hell, yes!
Does it keep me away from boycoting Nestle?
    Hell, no!

Do I understand and have sympathy with workers, who are losing their jobs? Yes! It happened to me more than once as well!
Do I understand, have sympathy or will I defend if they vote for fascists and Nazis as a result of their bad feelings about losing their jobs?
    Hell no!

You vote for fascists and Nazis - you are making your own life more miserable - and most importantly - other people's life!
You vote for fascists and Nazis - you are teaming up with fascist and Nazis and are consequently responsible for everything they do!

And I'll not have sympathy for you and I will not defend you!

    Rant over

It's good to have a rant now and again.
Please remember this is about a Yorkshire
    Company making tea.
I can't wait till a conservative MP is pictured
Going to an NHS hospital, so the calls will
Start to boycott the NHS :D

No this is not about Yorkshire Tea Company.
And it was clear from my previous post where I broadened the spectrum that sometimes boycots in a capitalist world lead to workers unemployment because even evil companies employ people.

But I can see your previous post where you relativised people electing and becoming Nazis after losing their jobs.

Moving on seems like a great idea! Sadly there are lots of things to rant about besides tea and nazis. The Chinese government allows the sale of wild and sometimes endangered animals at markets, leading to the outbreak of the Corona virus. But when Doctor Li Wenliang warned of the epidemic was reprimanded by the police for "spreading rumors" about the coronavirus in December. He was among eight medical professionals who were accused of spreading "illegal and false information" about the virus. The joys of a police state…...

One of the (sadly few) things I have in common with Ian Fleming is that I can’t stand tea. It’s coffee all the way for me. Does anyone else feel that way?

You are Dead to me C&D ! ;)

Coffee is too strong for my weak
Taste buds, and Earl Grey tea far
Too scented. So I only like big
    Standard tea.
I also don't do the cold shower thing
Bond does has to be very hot....... rather
Like my love life :D .....

I like neither tea nor coffee. I also don't drink alcohol. In short I don't like adult beverages.
This is hard-hitting political debate, folks! :))

Not quite, I don't think tea is mud, I drink tea first thing in the morning then I'm coffee all day long, and unfortunately I don't really like instant coffee.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Not quite, in light of Syria (Russian jets and ordnance) bombing Turkey who is a Nato member, is the west actually just pretending this hasn't happened to conveniently avoid a direct conflict with Russia?

The reason the West don't mention what's happening with Turkey is probably because Erdogan controls the refugee migration to Europe. Now he's bussing them to the Greek border, perhaps because he feels the West/NATO isn't supporting him enough.

There's also the peace treaty in Afghanistan that got signed today. Good luck, but I don't think it'll work. Perhaps it'll give the US and the West an excuse to leave.
