Thinking ahead a bit and found a data cable for my dummy K800i for three bucks shipped, now for the "data syringe" with correct base and syringe cap. If I can come across all the getable parts of the Resus/Defib kit as possible and then start thinking about the custom stuff, unit, paddles and "data syringe"

The eventual plan is to find someone who can draw up the custom stuff, 3D print them and then sell them, all I want is a free one for the idea. Its a plan that his bitten me on the arse in the past but has also produced some very nice results.

Maybe the blue pen is a combination if drug to counteract poisons and the red one has a premixed vesper in it for when times get really bad?

    I was bloody right!! :))

I think I will go with the Blue being Amiodarone and the Red being Atropine, or at least that is what I'm going to mark mine up as, until such time someone can come up with a better idea, backed up with logic or a definitive screen shot showing the text.
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
Do we even know the originals were labelled with anything?

My only thinking is that in times of emergency, under stress and taking instructions, it'd be way easier and safer to be told red or blue. The contents are irrelevant to Bond, he's just interested in staying alive.

And going by the wiki article, wouldn't lidocaine be more likely?

Yes but if you look at a really good screen grab there is black lettering on the coloured portion of each pen and in the real world all drugs would be marked with name, %, suspension etc. eg Amiodarone is normally in a suspension of dextrose, even in SIS Q Branch would not be immune to the workings of NICE.

I was also looking outside the box, we know that in this case it was to negate the effects of Digitalis but would both pens be for the same thing? I think they would be looking at a broad range of conditions.

I'll be having a look into that....

I can't find my old epipen so I'm stuck for sizes :(

By the time I get the bench cleared I should have found it though.

I might ask the doc next time I see him about what info should be on there, or use the epi label as a starting point.

I remember talking to FE about this last summer. Maybe they've had some hands on time with the prop?
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
I dunno where this has sprouted from, but I couldn't help think that it was a no-go due to the risk that someone could mistake it for a real defibrillator.

A small item but important to the overall project is the more traditional style syringe used on the "data transmitter". Im assuming its a hypodermic needle and have found what looks like a standard size chart, will get some down time at work to do a little looking around. Of course the end result would see the cap epoxy glued to the end. :))

Im warming to the possibility of just putting a static replica together of the main unit, no paddles, wires or electronics,
just a highly detailed one piece unit, would make things considerably cheaper and easier. Ive got a really nice, small black slimline Haliburton that was for another project but this kit would look very cool with custom cut foam inserts in that case.
So much Bond, so little time.

Might do a search on solder irons, electric carving knives and electric toothbrushes to see if theres any kind of match on the wrist device, kinda has that feel, any other ideas?
  • Mr WebberMr Webber AustraliaPosts: 114MI6 Agent
    No?
Got excited when I found this battery powered solder, looked like the perfect substitute for the hero but went back to the movie to get a better idea and ended up getting a couple of better pics of the hero and its very different. Payed off though as it confirms the syringe used, third from the right on the chart below, before the cap comes off that is, its replaced with a thicker dummy needle for the injection close up, there is a small hook like attatchment at the top to help insert the needle I would guess and a small button at the back, all very handy info.

Two steps forward, one step back.

The EpiPen trainers arrived and are the incorrect ones. Contacted the company and they said they only have the one version(the incorrect one) in stock and the picture on the website is outdated, great. Have searched the web for the correct one but have had zero luck confirming if the ones pictured are the right ones.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to getting the correct style EpiPen it would be much appreciated. Worst case scenario, add a liitle fogged plastic ring to make it accurate.
  • Mr WebberMr Webber AustraliaPosts: 114MI6 Agent
Back on thread, I 'may' have a source for old style EpiPen training syringes, I'll let you know.

Any luck with a source for the correct trainer Gadget Meister? Every place I contact only have the incorrect one, despite the web pictures showing the correct one, frustrating indeed.

Seem to be having the same problem, will let you know any progress :(
  • Mr WebberMr Webber AustraliaPosts: 114MI6 Agent
    Cheers, will do the same. -{

In the meantime, ive started looking at modifying the incorrect one, its a bit of a nightmare under that instruction label
but think its very possible, will post pics once it gets started.

I've got 6 of the correct (I hope) style trainer pens coming my way....

Keep me posted with your progress, I'd enjoy building a set of the defibrillator and epi-pens into the back seat storage of my "Tomorrow Never Dies" car for shows, I always enjoyed that gadget and film quite a bit.

I've got quite a bit on my plate for the next few months but if 3D modeling is required to get a good sculpt of the defibrillator I'm willing to give it a go, I'm about to do a bunch of 3D printing in the next couple of weeks to make molding masters of some props I originally built for the "Inspector Spacetime" webseries based on the meta-gag from NBC's "Community".

Bear in mind guys that 3D printing is more geared towards RP work.

I've used it for building some parts, but never anything on show as the appearance of 3D printed objects can be somewhat corse and unattractive.

Best of luck with the EpiPens MG. Its like the Rothmans Royals all over again for me, late to the availability party and all the internet does is tease with outdated pictures on outdated websites of the thing you want. Onwards and Upwards.
If it works out ok and you have a spare pair available, I would eagerly put my hand up for them.

    Brian,

If you think you can pull off the 3D printing of the DeFib unit we should go for it, bearing in mind MG`s advice though, it would have to be spot on finish wise, this is something that cant be just good enough, its a Bond item. The unit itself is very small, only slightly bigger than a pack of cigs, this would be an advantage I would think. As stated before, I know nothing about 3D printing but have been looking for someone in the community to have a look, everywhere I search locally is geared up for architects etc and have no idea about props and want to charge a fortune. It may also be a good project to make a more traditional style mold of the unit but no one has come forward with anything so far.

I will have to sit down and hand draw up some stuff and have a crack at working out some measurements for a static unit, unit with removeable paddles if possible and the wrist/syringe unit.

IMO 3D printing doesn't produce great results and isn't regarded as suitable for final articles, unless you go to the high end of the market which is naturally more expensive. Like I said before, it's more geared toward rapid prototyping where speed, rather than finish, is key. Most machines, depending on their nature operate by using layers of around 0.1 - 0.25mm which sounds great but in reality is quite rough, especially if you consider a surface needs plating (which requires a glass like surface finish).

My best advice, if you really have to utilise some form of CNC kit is a mill. ;)

Can't beat doing things the old fashioned way though ;)

As for the Rothmans, my local shop does them.

Oh and the defib (not defrib) is about the width of a PSP or a DS, somewhere around there.

Really? Royal 120`s? Not being able to find them has put a stop to finishing the Moonraker Safecracking Cig Case.
If by any chance next time your walking past you can pick me up a pack, will gladly send you a EpiPen dressing kit
with correct colour lighting gel, black side stripes and clear adhesive to go over the top of it all and all costs.
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
    Royal 120?

No idea what that means but I'll have a look next time I'm there. No need for anything in return if they're what you're after.

Got a pic of the pack you need?

Thats a shame GM but hang on to the ones you have, Ive cracked open one of mine and with a bit of work, it looks like a 95 to a 100% accurate conversion looks achievable but hopfully unnecessary, fingers crossed MG. If I have to go down the conversion path, will take pics through the whole process for a step by step.

Sorry to go off topic, but I checked in the shop, I can't get Rothmans 120's but I can get king size. Any good?
