Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Oops caught out by the Minigeff ..... I mean, no Jeff, I used to be a Doctor, honest, I was proctologist  ajb007/biggrin

I wonder wether they're trying to convey that the drugs themselves are Red/Blue or just to differentiate between combi pens ( now there's a quandary ..... What's a combi pen? )

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

ajb007/lol There's a joke there about "I think I must be a gynaecologist...." ajb007/lol

Well I thing the colours are to point out the drug types and the drugs themselves aren't red or blue. The syringe inside these things is a lot thinner than the body of the epipen.

What's a combi-pen? Erm, it's a medical kind of mcguffin.  ajb007/cool

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Nope, try again, same idea as the EpiPen but a significantly different use.

Give you a clue, it also had a tablet hidden in the grey cap.

All google finds is stuff to prick animals with  ajb007/insane

Maybe the blue pen is a combination if drug to counteract poisons and the red one has a premixed vesper in it for when times get really bad?

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Mmmmm more of a military use........

Unfortunately I don't believe there was an equivalent to be issued to civilians in time of a certain type of war

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Ah, would it go hand in hand with an NBC suit?

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Get yourself a Delectado for that one Jeff  ajb007/martini

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Thinking ahead a bit and found a data cable for my dummy K800i for three bucks shipped, now for the "data syringe" with correct base and syringe cap. If I can come across all the getable parts of the Resus/Defib kit as possible and then start thinking about the custom stuff, unit, paddles and "data syringe"

The eventual plan is to find someone who can draw up the custom stuff, 3D print them and then sell them, all I want is a free one for the idea. Its a plan that his bitten me on the arse in the past but has also produced some very nice results.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

I think I will go with the Blue being Amiodarone and the Red being Atropine, or at least that is what I'm going to mark mine up as, until such time someone can come up with a better idea, backed up with logic or a definitive screen shot showing the text.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Do we even know the originals were labelled with anything?

My only thinking is that in times of emergency, under stress and taking instructions, it'd be way easier and safer to be told red or blue. The contents are irrelevant to Bond, he's just interested in staying alive.

And going by the wiki article, wouldn't lidocaine be more likely?

37

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Yes but if you look at a really good screen grab there is black lettering on the coloured portion of each pen and in the real world all drugs would be marked with name, %, suspension etc. eg Amiodarone is normally in a suspension of dextrose, even in SIS Q Branch would not be immune to the workings of NICE.

I was also looking outside the box, we know that in this case it was to negate the effects of Digitalis but would both pens be for the same thing? I think they would be looking at a broad range of conditions.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

I'll be having a look into that....

I can't find my old epipen so I'm stuck for sizes ajb007/frown

By the time I get the bench cleared I should have found it though.

I might ask the doc next time I see him about what info should be on there, or use the epi label as a starting point.

I'll let you know the correct sizes when my correct trainers arrive Jeff.

Cheers Andy, I just found some interesting images, I'll email you in a second.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

I remember talking to FE about this last summer. Maybe they've had some hands on time with the prop?

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

I dunno where this has sprouted from, but I couldn't help think that it was a no-go due to the risk that someone could mistake it for a real defibrillator.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

A small item but important to the overall project is the more traditional style syringe used on the "data transmitter". Im assuming its a hypodermic needle and have found what looks like a standard size chart, will get some down time at work to do a little looking around. Of course the end result would see the cap epoxy glued to the end. ajb007/lol

Im warming to the possibility of just putting a static replica together of the main unit, no paddles, wires or electronics,
just a highly detailed one piece unit, would make things considerably cheaper and easier. Ive got a really nice, small black slimline Haliburton that was for another project but this kit would look very cool with custom cut foam inserts in that case.
So much Bond, so little time.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Might do a search on solder irons, electric carving knives and electric toothbrushes to see if theres any kind of match on the wrist device, kinda has that feel, any other ideas?

45

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

No?
Got excited when I found this battery powered solder, looked like the perfect substitute for the hero but went back to the movie to get a better idea and ended up getting a couple of better pics of the hero and its very different. Payed off though as it confirms the syringe used, third from the right on the chart below, before the cap comes off that is, its replaced with a thicker dummy needle for the injection close up, there is a small hook like attatchment at the top to help insert the needle I would guess and a small button at the back, all very handy info.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Two steps forward, one step back.

The EpiPen trainers arrived and are the incorrect ones. Contacted the company and they said they only have the one version(the incorrect one) in stock and the picture on the website is outdated, great. Have searched the web for the correct one but have had zero luck confirming if the ones pictured are the right ones.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to getting the correct style EpiPen it would be much appreciated. Worst case scenario, add a liitle fogged plastic ring to make it accurate.

Back on thread, I 'may' have a source for old style EpiPen training syringes, I'll let you know.

Any luck with a source for the correct trainer Gadget Meister?  Every place I contact only have the incorrect one, despite the web pictures showing the correct one, frustrating indeed.

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Seem to be having the same problem, will let you know any progress  ajb007/frown

Re: Casino Royale....Aston Martin Complete DeFib Kit Discussion Thead

Cheers, will do the same. ajb007/martini

In the meantime, ive started looking at modifying the incorrect one, its a bit of a nightmare under that instruction label
but think its very possible, will post pics once it gets started.
