That's an awesome review. Colonel Sun is just so far ahead of every other continuation novel that it's almost as if Fleming wrote it himself. I have enjoyed many of the other efforts since then, but if this one really is that good, we're in for quite a treat! If true, I hope Horowitz writes more.

Colonel Sun ranks with the best of Fleming. If TM is in the same league we are in for a huge treat and I will publicly forgive IFP for the abuse they have inflicted on me with the celebrity trilogy providing, of course, they send me my cut of TM sales for recommending Horowitz.

Yep...read both the Holmes books...both are good but I preferred the first one...

So... 13 story outlines minus 6 from existing stories leaves 7. FYEO, FAVTAK and "Risico" for sure were based on story outlines, I think TLD was too, leaves 3.
We know QoS wasn't, "007 in NY" and OP are unlikely to have been, and I believe "Rarity" and "Lady" weren't either. Take away MoW leaves 2 more outlines still to be used.
There's a bit of guesswork there of course!

Haven't seen any news on special editions but for the previous 2 books for independent book shops they did black covers and
signed and numbered copies at full price. Usually when a book is launched it's immediately half price (£10 instead of £20) at main shops like WH Smith and Waterstones. When I was looking to get a first edition, Waterstones produced a 2nd edition (which I didn't want). probably due to quick sales volumes. The ultimate cheap version would be at ASDA I think.
I don't bother with the encased "Bentley" versions as they cost way too much.
Nearer the time I will ask the independent bookshop if they have a different version.
So WH Smith for the basic version and elsewhere if they have an independent bookshop version.
But obviously it would need to have a different Title.
I nickname the 1979 film - Moneyraker. You could just call it Drax.
There were characteristics of Hugo Drax in Gustav Graves in Die Another Day. So it's been covered twice,
but they still haven't done the Card game where his cheating is exposed. (maybe Octopussy dice throwing)
(unless there are parallels in Casino Royale film?)
I'd like to see Bond's car chasing Drax's Mercedes SL and Krebs releasing the news print on to the road.
(You can really visualise that in your mind.)
and the chalk cliff face collapsing on Bond and Gala Brand.

Indeed it was a shame, but he had plans for a while to do a second one and later a short story. Neither came to anything sadly.
