Daniel Craig is in a new movie called The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Page 1 of 8)

Apparently it's based on a fairly decently-selling novel   

I haven't read it yet, but it's a MAJOR bestseller that has gotten excellent reviews.  In fact one film version has already been made in Europe.  It's the first of a trilogy, so Craigger has another movie franchise on his hands!

I agree with Lexi, they are superb books, amongst the best I have read over the past 5 years or so. I have seen the first two original films and thought the first was excellent while the second disappointed a bit (but was still good). I really don't think it's necessary to remake the Swedish originals as they are brilliantly acted, beautifully shot and just damn good films...but I know that not everyone's into subtitles. Craig's casting will work well I believe, but ultimately I think one of the things that made "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (book and film) as good as it was was its grittiness. I hope Hollywood doesn't wimp out and soften a nasty story unnecessarily.

The Girl With The Dragoon Tattoo has been made as a Swedish language film, and holds the record (I believe) for box office takings in the UK for a foreign language film and DVD sales.  Was a big hit here, as was the second in the trilogy The Girl Who Played With Fire.  Both very good films (the first, excellent).  Why Hollywood feels the need to strip it of it's native language, setting and actors, who knows.  And I won't be watching it to find out.

My God - He swears like a trooper!

The original Millenium Trilogy films are thrilling. Lisbeth Salander is played by Rooney Mara, who played Zuckerbergs girlfriend at the start of Social Network, in the US version. The poster looks great.

If I'm not mistaken,Christopher Nolan is the director and we know his track record, so that would bode well. And here's a little wishful thinking. Christopher Nolan: huge Bond fan; admits his films are highly influenced by Bond films; enjoyed working with Daniel Craig; has stated he'd love to do a Bond film.....Christopher Nolan signs on to write/direct Bond 24? Not likely, but it would be nice.

Not so much bashing, as just coming along and changing the ending of what is one of the best selling trilogies of the last 3 years..... why do that.... give what people want... give what the fans want.... and when you're making a movie from a book - rather than a stand alone movie, with no reference... it's just really annoying when they mess with a winning formula.

However, having said that, the origional films did chop and change with a major plot point, so I can't be too harsh

Interestingly, the origional title of The girl with the dragon tatoo can be translated to Men who hate women. Perhaps not very Bondian?

There is a new Scandinavian crime novel star now: Jo Nesbo. He is Norwegian and his books are selling very well abroad, invluding the US. The books will be made into hollywood prodctutions, something Nesbo only allowed when he was offered to be one of the producers. Comes highly recomended!

Ooooh, now that looks fantastic.... wanted to use another F word before it.... but being a family site an' all....

Just those snippets alone, show more detail than the original.... wow, looks like this re-make is going to be good.

Although, there are a few scenes, that Daniel mentions, I think that could be quite hard core.... more squirm in your seat... than anything else. But still - can't wait for this to come to the cinema.... thanks for posting

We are entering new territory here, as Craig will be the first actor to play Bond whose profile could equal,or even eclipse Bond even while he is still playing him !
Ok he has had the benefit of long gaps between missions, but he has really made some smart looking choices. He certainly has seemed to capture the imagination of the public. Have you noticed how he has in some sense re- defined the model of masculinity, in a similar way that Connery did. There seem to be 'Craigalikes' in every fashion shoot and media. Image.
