Skyfall Watch

Does anyone know if Omega will sponsor Skyfall and if there will be a new 007 watch?

Rumor had it that Tudor were set to step in as the official watch sponsor........

Over on the Rolex Forums one guy reckons that an Omega salesperson told him the Skyfall Bond watch is going to be the new Titanium Planet Ocean in Blue.

Of course this is just rumour but it wouldn't surprise me, sort of a merge between the Bond Seamaster and the PO that Daniel Craigs Bond is now known for wearing

There's quite a few differences between the older watch apart from just the colour:

    1. Seamaster is written in red.
    2. The hour and minute hands are more pronounced. The second hand also looks thicker with less orange along its length (I wish they would match this with the "red" seamaster text).
    3. The hour markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 are square and not tapered or arrow shaped
    4. the numerals (12, 3, 6 and 9) are complete and do not have the gap joining them.
    5. The silver ring on the inside of the bezel is much thinner than the older models.
    6. It has the new 8500 movement over the older 2500.
    7. "Omega" text is no longer printed but also created from the same design and material (gold) as the Omega logo.
My guess is that this is also one of the new cermamic bezels.

The price over the older models is massively increased. Now it seems Omega are really going for Rolex in this market.

I thought you would be this:

It is very similar to the ocean planet of Casino Royale and Quantum, but blue and with a difference, but I personally like the 2 I used in Casino Royale.
Anyone believe that the clock on the new stage of Craig / Bond will have any Gadget?.

I can't see him using the Seamaster Pro again to be honest, it has featured into many films now and Omega are really pushing the Planet Ocean watches.

That link Oscar also is a limited Edition 007 watch so no chance that will feature as they of course don't in the films!!

I called this months ago....the retail price of it is roughly $10,000 us. By far the most expensive watch worn by Bond

$10,000? ouch Thats a little too rich for my blood. A beautiful watch though and am loking forward to seeing it in the movie...The fiance and I are buying me an Omega for our Wedding in February, I'm thinking the blue face Seamaster 300M from Casino Royale to also keep "in line" with the Brosnan era with blue face...not sure about the black faced planet ocean...

I wonder if there will be a special edition because ten grand is out of the price bracket for the large majority of watch loving Bond fans. Two grand tops is where the ceiling should be.

Apparently, Craig Skyfall use two models.
    Although not official yet.
The price, I think it is quite expensive, and if we want a limited edition will be quite more expensive

In anticipation of this becoming the new watch, I have been waiting for it to show up at the local dealers. The Omega specialist at Mayor's told me the retail of $10,000, b ut it still has not hit the stores yet.

It is interesting that Omega pulled it from their website...it was there a few weeks ago...thus my conclusion is a major launch with the Bond brand....I would have expected it before Christmas

I read that story on m16, and find it's quote about the black face of the Planet Ocean being worn in QoS being a departure from the usual blue face watches slightly odd...........seeing as he wore a black faced Planet Ocean in Casino Royale - Lazy reseach 8-)

    Hi Roi,

That is because you have linked to a pic of the Planet Ocean Liquid Metal - not the older James Bond Planet Ocean. The Liquid Metal came in between these 2 models.

I hope Bond doesn't wear a titanium watch. I love the color but I tried an Omega Seamaster titanium chronograph on once and it was light as a feather. Too light for me. I recall Bond using his Rolex as a knuckle duster in the OHMSS book because it had weight to it. The steel Seamasters have a good feel to them. The titanium Seamaster was so light I almost forgot it was there.

I prefer the model or the Quantum Brosnan, this I do not like, looks like a toy

An expensive watch to a government official, and without gadget
  • PaperbillPaperbill FloridaPosts: 810MI6 Agent
I stand corrected. The retail price for the Blue Planet Ocean is $7500 US
  • PaperbillPaperbill FloridaPosts: 810MI6 Agent
Ok, I went into the Omega store in Las vegas and tried on the Blue Planet Ocean. The retail was $8600 US. I was not impressed with it on steel band. I also tried on the new Liquid Metal PO on a new black leather band....very nice and retail was $6100 so they are charging much more for the same watch in blue. It is also much lighter in weight than my normal Planet Ocean.

Thanks for sharing this! That price tag is a real turn-off... but what a gorgeous watch!

This article reads like the ramblings off a drugged horse.

Although the new BLUE Titanium Planet Ocean may be the new James Bond watch, the article is completely made up.

The blue actually looks "cheap" in person. Like a $200 casio

It`s a bit sad really. Skyfall is shooting and all we have to talk about is watches and cologne. :#
On the plus side, it probably mens the security on set is very good, saving the film for us until we get to watch it.

I take it that the titanium was $8600 not the blue version in steel? If not prices have really jumped since I talked to Omega a year or so ago. The original limited liquid metal version was the top price point.

Yes it is the Titanium. I dont believe there is a "steel" version.

Seen this announcement on Facebook a few minutes ago.
    http://www.omegawatches.com/news/international-news/international-news-detail/1869

The FB announcement says it is the new Seamaster Diver Co-Axial 300m, but the press announcement on the Omega website is dated 19th October 2011!

Could this be the new watch for Bond 23?
The answer is we don't really know until an official announcement is made despite what Chinese whispers are doing the rounds.

From what we have seen and heard so far I think we will see 2 Bond watches again in SKYFALL:

The Planet Ocean Blue Face in Titanium (45.5mm):

    ompo2.jpg

and one of the new Seamaster Professsionals 300m (Blue or Black Face): I'm guessing the Blue.
