Last Of The Summer Wine is the UK's longest running comedy show, currently standing at 32 years. Personally, it's not one of my favourite comedy shows, but I do watch it from time to time. This particular episode is my absolute favorite from The Comic Strip Presents. I'm glad that I taped these back in the day because I haven't seen them on air since. THE BAD NEWS TOUR.
I also love the one where Peter Richardson is an ex-con trying to scam his way into the record business with this band called Toy Department). Classic. What a great show.

The Americans on this site can probably be forgiven, but all you Brits should be sent to the tower for not mentioning the most hilarious -- and yes, drier than a Beefeaters martini -- British comedy ever made: the film "Kind Hearts and Coronets." Sir Alec Guinness, pre-Obi Wan.
OK -- Maybe you were just thinking recent TV shows, but still ... this one is to the UK what "Some Like it Hot" is to the US -- an absolute classic.

Didn't really mean to dredge up this old thread but...can someone tell me if the comedy MULBERRY is any good? I think it's supposed to come on in syndication over here.
Is it supposed to be supernatural or something like that?

Me too. Best episode is when Matthew joins the band and gets a great write-up from the NME for collapsing and having a hysterical fit on stage. )
I also liked a little-known and little-seen C4 comedy called Nightingales with Robert Lindsay and David Threlfall as security guards. It was very surreal. A couple of episodes featured a werewolf called Eric. Weird and wonderful. Haven't seen it in years.
I think British comedies are the best of them all - the dry, witty style is my kind of humour. I've only recently got into it, so I'll have to spend a bit of time finding them at my local video store.
Anyway, my favourite so far has to be Blackadder Goes Forth. I really love the interaction between Blackadder and Baldrick ... there are honourable mentions, of course, but too many to list, and it includes Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served, Little Britain ... just to name a few.

Lots of fans of Red Dwarf/Father Ted, I like Only Fools and Horses, Peep Show and Young Ones. All very different but great fun
I don't know if it has been mentioned, but I have always loved Not the 9 O'clock News.) Sometimes when I want a good laugh, I watch it on youtube. Brilliant. (I never saw the orginal series so I've seen it in reruns and on youtube.)

Game On was great. I preferred the first series, with Ben Chaplin though, rather than the later ones with the other guy.

I have just bough the entire collection on dvd from amazon. I started watching it again last night and I'd forgotten just how funny it was!
There was a series in 2000 called Perfect World with Paul Kaye aka Dennis Pennis which was absolutely suberb. Anyone remember it?
