Gun barrel in Quantum of Solace

I really hope that the opening gun barrel will come back in Quantum of Solace. The gun barrel at the end of the opening sequence of Casino Royale was nice but hopefully the 'classic' gun barrel will come back.

I am very curious how it will look: Daniel Craig shooting in the 'classic' gun barrel. Of course at the beginning of the movie and not at the end of the pre-title sequence like in Casino.

Does someone has more news about this?

Haven't heard anything but I too hope that the traditional gun barrel comes back. I am fairly certain it will happen since there's no reason not to bring it back.

I can't really see them coming up with a PTS in every Craig Bond film ending with 007 turning and shooting someone in a white room ...
I'm shure they will have a traditional-looking gunnbarrel at the start of the PTS in the comming films.

I've not heard or read anything from Eon about this, but I'd be very surprised if they didn't serve up a traditional gunbarrel sequence this time round...then the circle opens up on Mr. White's lakeside villa B-)

I haven't posted here in a while, but the moment I saw this, I knew it was time to post.

Please, EoN, give us the old fashioned gunbarrel intro. Make it in DC's own style, but make it be there, please. I really want this old tradition back!

I'd be very surprised and dissapointed if the gunbarrel isn't there. I think CR was a one-off in that respect.

Having the gun barrel return in QOS would be fantastic. Hopefully it will not have the CGI bullet like DAD, even though I thought it was cool at the time. So many traditions were left out of CR and they need to return. They also need to play the James Bond Theme often.

Then in Bond 23, bring back Q and Moneypenny and then you've got yourself a full-fledged 007 film again!

I have no definite information about that but I heard that gunbarrel will bring back by producers and director and Quantum Of Solace's gunbarrel could be somekind of 3D model.

I thought in one day that if I would have a chance to make new Bond's gunbarrel I would make it look like 3D gunbarrel. Maybe they could shoot it behind of Bond and then move the picture and show how Craig shoots somebody again...somekind of viewfinder -look would be nice too...

But I'm sure that they will bring the gunbarrel back again because it's the real part of Bond history and it looks cool. Casino Royale's gunbarrel was...hmm...pathetic.

I don't know if they'll bring back the white dots, but the gunbarrel will probably be in QOS. If not, then CR was just a tribute, and we truly are in brand new territory for the franchise. Maybe it's a good thing.

Here's my idea, if they do add it. Same as usual, except for a few things:

No white dots, no music, just black. After a second or two, we hear the buzz and see the flicker of bright overhead lights turning on. Our perspective is the inside of the barrel of a gun. We don't see anyone, but we hear footsteps echoing in the endless whiteness, getting closer. The 007 theme begins quietly. A man in a suit walks into frame, turns, and fires at the camera. Blood spills down and fills the screen with red. Fade to black. Cue pre-title sequence.

The gunbarrel and blood would look the same as in Casino Royale. Because that was awesome.

I am all for the new, rebooted, darker Bond in Craig. However, i would love to see the white dots and hear those classic brass notes while Bond walks across the screen and fires the gun at the audience. Imagine that on opening night in leicester Square - it really will make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, rather like when I was a boy in the 1980s.

BTW - I was sooooo disappointed in 1995 when, after all those years there was no Bond theme to speak of in the movie, let alone over the gunbarrel. Just not the same. ?:)

Loved the gunbarrel in CR, just want the traditional style back for QoS! {[]

    I'd be disappointed as well.

Now that the character has been re-established, I'd welcome the return of the classic gunbarrel back with open arms as long as Craig's walk-n-shoot doesn't suck...

I just wish that Bond would go back to wearing a hat and suit when he does it and give it a retro type feel. Too outdated?

I also hope they bring back the traditional gun barrel. CR changed quite a few Bond traditions including the gun barrel, but we need to begin starting to move back into classic Bond territory here, starting with the gun barrel.

And (although I know this will not happen) after read jamesbondagent007's post I had an idea. Do the classic gunbarrel (with the white dots and everything) but have no music. The white dots would go across the screen and about half way through we begin to here footsteps, they gradually get louder and louder until Bond comes up on screen turns and shoots. Then have a really good gunshot sound effect and right after he shoots play the Bond theme. Quite similar to Dr.No actuallly, but done a bit better.

Whether or not it was "traditional" the gunbarrel WAS in Casino Royale. So after after being featured 21 times it seems unlikely they would drop it on the 22nd film.

I really liked the Casino Royale Gunbarrel and credits. I like naked ladies as much as any other red blooded fellow, but by DAD was quite fed up with all the phallic symbolism and teenage tease they had descended into. So I am all for mixing up the "traditional" with a fresher presentation.

I would hope the Gunbarrel would be changed in one aspect, Have the fellow who designs the "barrel" take a peep down the barrel of a real (unloaded) pistol. It looks alot different than the image presented in CR'06, there are fewer grooves in a real barrel and they are much more shallow. Only huge Howitzer Cannons have rifling like that in CR.

Would like to see another image of Eva Green in the credits since it doesn't look like we will see her again in QOS.

I'd like to watch an entire movie of her, just being...her. Ohhh Eva!

As for the naked ladies, I have to say I agree that they really had been over used. The ones that annoy me the most are ones with pretty much random pictures of women with no ties at all to the story. For example, YOLT or TB are great in that they have women and tie to the location of thge movie. OP, TLD, LTK, TND are weak because they were special to the movie they were associated with.

Also, I loved the CGI in the titles of Casino Royale. What I'm hoping for in the titles is the same style of artwork, with some women thrown in there and tied to the location of the film. That would look good.

The gunbarrel was in CR, but not in the traditional place. What many of us, such as myself, want is for the gunbarrel to be at the start of the PTS in QOS.

I don't think it's too outdated. I think it could be extremely cool. :D Nonetheless I think it comes down to how Craig handles it.

After seeing the "gunbarrel" 21 times (not to mention repeat viewings) I don't mind shaking things up a bit.

They must have a gun barrel of some kind in QOS! It was done very well in CR...it just needs to be shown with a bit of bond music this time.
When you see a new Bond film for the first time, you expect to see a gun barrel...(I was slightly disappointed that it was not at the very start of CR)...otherwise it just does not "feel" liek a Bond.
The producers have to be careful that they don't stray too far from the traditional formular, otherwise the franchise is likely to drift into the areas of common American action movies (if you see what I mean!

Hat would be cool, but would look either too outdated, or, worse, remind people of Pete Doherty. I would leave the hat out, and keep the rest: suit, and the retro feel gunbarrel (black and white, which the PTS of CR was anyway), with Craig walking and shooting more like Bob Simmons in the first tree Connery movies.

I do like the way that Craig's coat flew open in his first GBS. I'd be none-too disappointed if they kept that going on again and again.

Bring back the traditional gunbarrel sequence, please. One thing I hated about CR was the lack of an opening gunbarrel scene with the James Bond music playing. Oh, and don't modify the music in any way, just play it exactly as Monty Norman wrote it. I really can't stand the "modern" electronic music.

I also think the gun barrell and classic opening should return as this is a link to the lineage of the franchise.. If we dont have these traditions the films are detached and may as well be about different characters. The producers know this as they brought a nod to Connery and the DB5 in CR.. Agent Craig is awesome but lets keep this special and not a Bourne relation.. Bond can continue for many years still as long as we shake up the character and threats from time to time... As they say "James Bond will return". {[]

just play it exactly as Monty Norman wrote it.

Oh dear, no- that didn't work in 62 and wouldn't work now. Just play it exactly as John Barry arranged it, that's the one we all recognise.

The very end of CR reestablished certain trademark conventions - the big brass intro to The James Bond Theme after Craig announces his name as "Bond, James Bond"; the 'Dr. No' style bongo backing to a trad. version of the James Bond Theme accompanying the end credits - so there's no reason why the beginning of QoS shouldn't pick up on all these reaffirmations of Bondian signatures and give us the classic gunbarrel sequence from the Maurice Binder / John Barry heyday...

What counts is what the heroine provokes, or rather what she represents. She is the one, or rather the love or fear she inspires in the hero , or else the concern he feels for her, who makes him act the way he does.

Exactly, the classic one in black and white, with Daniel Craig moving as Bob Simmons in the first 3 movies; not walking a lot, jumping and shooting.

I would prefer to see a whole new gun barrel with Craig. A traditional one, rather than one that starts the movie off with Bond in the crapper.

Producer Michael G. Wilson had this to say in an interview for the newest edition of Total Film magazine:

"We’ll probably go back to the traditional style [qunbarrel]."

Wilson does say "probably," so it must not be a done deal. I hope they do it. :)
