Another Way To Die - Video

BBC's The One Show (I know, tragically I was watching it eating my tea) claimed to have the world exclusive, first sneak preview of the video to Another Way To Die over the end titles tonight.

Of the snippet shown, it's alternate shots of Keyes singing into a silver microphone (with a time piece in it) with freaky looking White wandering around a silver background, with shadow and silver and sand coloured swirly lines, White playing guitar or Keyes playing piano (White is wearing a tux, but still looks weird). Then for the shouty bit, there's a backdrop of a desert at night while they scream at each other, face to face. No snippets of film in the footage aired, and I'd hedge a guess from what I've seen that there won't be any.

There might be a hint of biasedness coming out in that I can't stand it, and that'd be correct ;)

I hope they include some film footage in the music video, because after seeing this brief clip, I don't think they will.

Wow. Pretty awful. M5 is right- what is wrong with Jack White? He looks like a woman.

The song is starting to grow on me. Could care less about the video. I only care how it plays over the film's title sequence and how it works if it has been incorporated into the film's soundtrack by David Arnold.

Still not wild about the song. Technically, the video is fine. But, man, I just gotta love the way Alicia strokes and caresses that microphone. . . :v

Bland and forgettable. Other than the stylised gunbarrel and brief glimpse of Craig at the end, it was just nothing.

Granted, I guess you can visually dress up a song best described as guff any old way - to use a recently popular phrase, you can put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig - but it's just a bland music video over a song I had on mute.

Jack White does look as if he's recently deceased in this video though, really freaky. :o

Ah Mo, you're not a lone wolf at all.

I love the song (actually love it) and I think the video is rather good too. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those backgrounds feature in the title sequence.

... and what's with all this commenting on how people look again? So what? Here's hoping that all AJB members are exquisite oil paintings.

The video's fine: presumably they had no cash and little time. The backgrounds are nicely done, but there's no real big concept: it's just two people singing. Which is fine. Not great, not bad.

I wouldn't say that Jack White looks like a girl to his face, either; he gets a bit fighty and has been working out recently by the looks of him! :)

I don't really care for the song, but the last time I got really excited over a Bond theme was in the Sean Connery era: Goldfinger and Thunderball especially, but also You Only Live Twice, although it had nothing to do with the novel's explanation of the phrase. Otherwise, I've found most Bond songs pretty forgettable (I did like the Casino Royale tune, though; it had a throwback quality like the film). The choice seems to be based more on the gee-whiz quality of the singer than the song itself (Wow! it's Paul McCartney! Oh my God, that's Madonna).

This new one sounds hip-hop-ish, so that probably is what tears it for me. A little after my time. But the theme song is last on my checklist for what makes a great Bond film. Although a great one does make it better.

The song is great, I liked it from the first time I heard it. The video does it's job.

    Roll on the film :D

I think the song is good. The chorus is kind of catchy and seems to be growing on me. I didn't really care for all the "who-a-o's" in the middle of the song.

I liked the video too but thought that it was about a minute too long. White does look a little strange but Keyes more than makes up for it by looking fantastic. My favorite part was at the end when Bond makes an appearance.

budge up....I hope there's room for me too....

I think the video is rather good, and fits the song too...but then, like Sir Miles, I liked the song the first time I heard it....

can't wait to see it over the titles.

A hideously dreary, boring an unimaginative video for an equally terrible song. Producers, buck your ideas up for Bond23 please. If the theme song and video are anything to go by, QofS might just be an awful Bourne, sorry 'Bond'(this is still a Bond film right!?) film.

I can't help but love it either! I think the song is great -and will be fantastic with the opening of the movie -it has an anger and energy about it that is fitting. The video is ok too -I think Mr white looks suitably moody and Alicia looks stunning as ever. Its the film I want now though -and i'm definitely counting the days. :D

Yes, a look, not physical appearance. A look, in the case of Mr White being the "isn't this song for the Addams Family?" look, that's through choice in style, make-up and attitude. I can't comment on the physical appearance of the lead singer of Lordi, but likewise I don't think his monster get-up would look that good here either.

Well - I agree with HH. AWTD's flavor runs a little too hip-hop for my personal tastes. It's an accomplished song just not my tea.

Video itself is ok, love the Craigster coming over the mountain with the machine gun.

I don't care what White's look is. It's what I hear that counts. Unfortunately what I'm hearing here isn't Bond trade. Sorry!

I can't stand it,either :o.Two people screaming at each other while oozing "attitude" does not a proper James Bond song make.Ouch...This thing is immediately forgetable.

I know that's a rhetorical question, but JB's more or less retired these days (although I hear that he's been working on a new stand-alone album). Sadly, even if Barry had continued writing the Bond music he'd have been in the same position as David Arnold re the title song- which is one of the reasons he quit.

Yes,I was definitely being rhetorical, but thanks very much for the update on Sir John Barry.Hmm...So David Arnold quit rather than come up with a song of this questionable quality for Quantum of Solace?Good for him.:)

Nevertheless, considering the usually high standard of the James Bond themes of the past 20-odd years,by comparison this...this thing...is noise, not music. To my taste, shouting doesn't equal singing, and all the attitude in the world can't replace musicianship.

    What a disappointment.:(

... and to follow that up.

Tastes differ, styles vary. Plus ca change, plus ca difference.

Yet again we have a situation in the Bond franchise where the membership of this site are diametrically opposed. One group are positive, one negative.

Personally, I can understand why some would dislike this song and/or video. However, that - I'm afraid - doesn't make it bad.
