I arrived too late to save Oddjob. :# Still, Oddjob finishing second is fantastic, and while Red Grant was not IMO the greatest ever henchman (that honour goes to Xenia), he's still second on my list. Thanks for an amazing game Jarvio. {[]

The proper henchman won the game; no question about it. As the Orient Express rail service fades into history next week, it's only fitting to pay tribute to the single greatest fight scene* in any Bond film---and indeed, one of the best ever recorded on film.

Great game, Jarv. Thanks for the opportunity.

I agree that Robert Shaw is the best actor on this list, and I agree that he's a better actor than Famke Janssen, but that does NOT mean he's the best Bond henchman of all time. I think that Xenia was better and was in fact the greatest Bond henchman of all time, and my opinion will not change merely because Grant did better in an elimination game.

Has nothing to do with game. The part is better written, how you could ever dispute that is beyond me. You seem to have good tastes in non-bond films so I do not understand and it is most certainly better acted. An iconic figure in arguably the best Bond film, Xenia is ....... a forgettable henchman is an average film that gets worse for me every time I see it.

I have a different opinion. What is so wrong with that? Krassno, your opinions are not fact, I am entitled to have a different opinion, you do realise that? As a matter of fact, I do dispute it. If it's beyond you that anyone could dispute it, perhaps you shouldn't have joined a site dedicated to opinions?!
You seem to have good tastes in non-bond films so I do not understand
Give me a break. Please tell me you're not going to be like Rick Robert was. You do not have the right to tell anyone whether their taste is good or not. You don't understand that I might have a different opinion to you? Here's a shock, you do NOT get to determine what constitutes good taste! I mean, I could say the same thing to you. I could certainly question your tastes, but I won't because I don't have the right to do so, just as you don't have the right to question my tastes.
and it is most certainly better acted.
According to you. I prefer Famke Janssen's Xenia to Robert Shaw's Red Grant.

I think the best Bond film was GF, however who cares whether he's an iconic figure and how good a film FRWL was? It may be one of the best films of all time, and he may be an icon, but that does not mean he was the best henchman of all time. I don't think he was.

So, your opinion is fact? It's not. I don't think she was a forgettable henchman, I don't think that GE was an average film (I think it's a masterpiece) and just because GE gets worst every time you see it, doesn't mean I have to agree!

Krassno, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, NO opinion is worth more than another; and IMO Xenia, not Grant, was the greatest ever henchman.

For me, the great thing about Shaw's Red Grant is how he so ably captured---with so relatively few lines of dialogue---the spirit of the character from Fleming's masterpiece of a novel. FRWL---both the book and the film---are world-class entertainment, at the height of their respective forms.

Thanks everyone for playing the game, I had a great time hosting and playing it! :D

Will look forward to running a bond girls game sometime in feb (if everyones up for that?)

All in all, I'm very glad Red Grant won. He is probably my 2nd favourite henchman. Baron Samedi is my favourite, but he was never likely to win, so I was very glad he finished 7th. Red Grant was a very deserving winner, and I knew he'd win from the start. Oddjob wasn't my favourite at all, but he makes a worthy runner up, and Fiona Volpe is a fine choice for the best henchwoman.

On the opposite end of the scale, The Bull definitely deserved to be out first. I also hated Stamper, so it's justified that he finished so low too IMO. Gobinda however shocked me slightly, I didn't expect him to finish 2nd to bottom.

    Thoroughly enjoyed this game :D

My personal opinions on the rankings:

1st - Red Grant - A very worthy winner. My 2nd favourite henchman ever, so I'm glad he won, and am sure many would agree :D
2nd - Oddjob - Not my personal favourite, but as he is so iconic and memorable, I'm not surprised he finished 2nd, and he deserves it too
3rd - Fiona Volpe - A fine female villain, and I'm happy that she finished top out of the women
4th - Xenia Onatopp - Another good villain. I think she's top 10 material, but I'm happy she finished 4th
5th - Tee Hee - He's a good henchman. Always in favour of LALD villains! Glad he finished high, although I much prefer Baron Samedi
6th - Jaws - Well, I love him in TSWLM, but hate him in MR... But 6th is a good place for him, and he certainly is iconic and memorable
7th - Baron Samedi - My favourite henchman. Partly due to nostalgia. Never expected him to win or even make the top 5, so I'm very happy that he finished 7th :D
    8th - Kronsteen - A good position for a good henchman
9th - Mr Wint And Mr Kidd (Counts As One) - I like them, and think 9th is about right for them, so I'm happy here
10th - Helga Brandt - Happy she maked the top 10. I'm a fan of most of the female villains, and this is no exception
11th - Irma Bunt - She wasn't particularly my favourite, but she DID kill Bond's wife, so how can she not rank high?
12th - Professor Dent - He was ok. Earnt a respectable position here
13th - General Ourumov - Kind of indifferent to General Ourumov really. I suppose 13th is probably about right for him
14th - Emile Leopold Locque - I like Locque, and would have liked him to finish a bit higher. But 14th isn't a bad position
15th - Nick Nack - Wasn't mad on him, but I liked him to some extent, so am happy he scraped the top 15
16th - Dario - An ok henchman. I expected him to rank higher slightly. But for me 16th is just about right
17th - Mr Osato - He was nothing special. Have no strong feelings for or against him
18th - The Three Blind Mice - They sure were iconic. But they didn't really do a great deal. So 18th was the right place for them to exit IMO
19th - Mischka And Grischka (Counts As One) - Too low. Should be higher IMO. The knife-throwing twins were classic! Can't win 'em all though...
    20th - General Medrano - Indifferent completely
21st - Miranda Frost - I think she deserved higher than this. Miranda Frost was the single best thing about DAD IMO
22nd - Steven Obanno - He wasn't great, so 22nd is about right
23rd - May Day - I was shocked she finished so low. Expected her to be much higher, and also believe she deserved to be much higher. Oh well
24th - Necros - Again, deserved much higher. Great henchman. He was a better villain than the main 2 villains from TLD!
25th - Zao - Always been indifferent, so meh whatever
26th - Stamper - I despise him. He should have finished EVEN lower X-( :))
27th - Gobinda - Very shocked he was 2nd out. I expected him to be around 18th-22nd territory, not 27th. Not that I was much of a fan, but just thought he was more popular than this...
    28th - The Bull - Deserved it :D

Feel free to post your analysis of the list :007)

Fine. For whatever reason our cordial disagreements have gone over the edge. I shall refrain from responding to you, please extend the same courtesy. Everything I ever write is MY OPINION, I just can't, or refuse to say "in my opinion" since it's implied already for every answer I give on these boards or the countless others I participate in for that matter, "I have batter fish to fry"

........ Anyway onto more civil things.

    Here are my views:

1st - Red Grant - A worthy winner, although IMO he wasn't the best henchman. Ideally I would have had him finish 2nd.

2nd - Oddjob - My third favourite henchman, he finished one spot higher than I would have liked; however with FRWL (incorrectly IMO) winning the film game, and Dr No (incorrectly IMO) winning the villain game, I think it was time for GF to win a game. :D

3rd - Fiona Volpe - Great, but overrated. While I'm happy she made the top 10, I don't think she deserved to make the top 6.

4th - Xenia Onatopp - IMO the greatest ever henchman. I think she should have won. :D

5th - Tee Hee - A brilliant henchman, but I think he should have finished sixth.

6th - Jaws - A magnificent henchman, I think he should have finished 4th. I certainly think he should have finished above Fiona, and probably above Tee Hee as well.

7th - Baron Samedi - A good henchman, but not a top 10 henchman. I think he should have made the top 12.

    8th - Kronsteen - I'm happy with this placing.

9th - Mr Wint And Mr Kidd (Counts As One) - I think they should have finished 5th; I'm very disappointed. :#

10th - Helga Brandt - I think she probably could have finished a little higher, but I'm happy with this ranking. For me, it's a toss up between her and Fiona; depending on my mood, I could go for either. Nonetheless, I am happy she made the top 10.

11th - Irma Bunt - She should have made the top 10. She's not a top 6 villain for me, but she's certainly a top 10 villain, and a high top 10 villain at that (I think she should have finished 7th or 8th).

12th - Professor Dent - I'm fine with this placing, although I probably would have ranked him 13th.

13th - General Ourumov - I had to look him up to remind me whom he was. Perhaps he was unlucky in that he was in the same film as Xenia, and to a lesser extent Alec, but he doesn't stand out for me. I don't dislike him, but nor do I particularly like him. Thus, I would have ranked him a few spots lower, and not in the top 15 (but just out of it).

14th - Emile Leopold Locque - As I descend down the list, it's harder to determine where I would rank the henchmen. I do know that Locque was a pretty good villain, who probably deserves his top 15 ranking.

15th - Nick Nack - I don't know. I'm not unhappy he made the top 20, although he certainly did not deserve to make the top 15, but at the cost of which villains? I think he's an alright villain, but he was ranked far too high as IMO he was absolutely not a top 15 villain.

16th - Dario - He was played by Benicio Del Toro, and I do think he was a pretty good villain. However I would probably have ranked him one or two spots below. However, I'm not too fussed wuth his ranking.

17th - Mr Osato - He was okay. I don't know if he's a top 20 villain though. He's not bad, but IMO the only truly good henchman from YOLT was Helga, and she greatly overshadowed him. As such, I would probably ranked him a few spots below, but his ranking doesn't really fuss me.

18th - The Three Blind Mice - Great henchmen, who were an example of quality over quantity. I think they should have made the top 12. I'm not at all happy that they did so badly. :#

19th - Mischka And Grischka (Counts As One) - I think they should have made the top 15, which BTW would have been at the expence of Gobinda. I'm very pleased with OP's henchmen, but IMO Mischka And Grischka were the best, and they were ranked too low.

20th - General Medrano - I would have ranked him a few spots below. As far as I'm concerned, the top 20 should not be polluted by the presence of QOS :v (I thought he was terrible anyway).

21st - Miranda Frost - She was pretty good, and I think she probably deserved to just make the top 20.

22nd - Steven Obanno - I think he could have been ranked a little higher, however I don't have any problems with his ranking.

23rd - May Day - She provided me with my favourite scene in AVTAK, but she was still pretty bad. Finishing 23rd is being generous; unless Medrano was ranked 24th, I would have given the 24th ranking to May Day. Still, there's not a huge difference between finishing 23rd and 24th. In my ideal game, Medrano and May Day would have finished 23rd/24th with a coin toss used to determine who wouod finish higher. :))

24th - Necros - A terrible villain, I think he deserved to be ranked 25th.

25th - Zao - A horrible villain, I think he deserved to finish in the bottom 2.

26th - Stamper - It was a race between him and Zao and for last place.

27th - Gobinda - A very underrated villain, he should have finished in the top 20 and perhaps challenged for (but not make) the top 15.

    28th - The Bull - I would have had him finish 26th.
