It's not even Christmas yet (and before anyone points out the emovieposter overprint, I purchased the James off them back in July 2006) however I can't quite believe this with Goldfinger's and my 60th Anniversary about to bite our asses and after missing out on the Joseph Caroff From Russia With Love double crown poster at Ewbanks, but look what set was completed the very next day! 😍 Only three complete sets including EON's are known to still exist! 😲
As a certain Mr Bond stated after opening his eyes to PUSSHY ....... "I must be dreaming!" 😲
In Goldfinger's 60th anniversary year, something a bit special and rare as the proverbial, a 40" x 60" Japanese Box Office or Billboard poster which had only previously been seen in Thomas Nixdorf's Bond exhibition catalogue 👍️ The Donkey only knows of 3 such examples! 😲

Not Goldfinger or Japanese for a change but something which is getting increasingly rare, a 1967 British quad for You Only Live Twice which is not linen backed so you can see the all important bleed through from the back and the machine folds and matt finish from the front. A recent unnamed auction house had one a matter of days ago where the listing stated original1967 British quad, printed later???? 22 years later! 😲
And no it hasn't been trimmed on the right border as can clearly be seen in this 1967 department store prop window display 👍️

Here's a major rarity from 1964 which the Donkey knew existed but never thought he'd see one yet alone secure one but thankfully neither the US auction house or other collectors knew what this was because on the surface it is one hell of an oddball piece of print!
Printed by The David Brown Tractor Division of Australia the poster promotes the Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5. The DB of DB5 stands for David Brown so DB4 Series 5 Vantage, DB5, DBS of 1969 and 2006 and of course DB10 from a Bond perspective. The little detail which was unknown by the auction house and others is the poster was used in 1964/65 to promote the Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5 tour car globally wherever it appeared and look how securely it was attached to the DB5's windscreen!. An amazing piece of Bondmanian history! The Donkey knows of only one other example.
The above illustration can be found on page 111 of Dave Worrall's masterpiece volume The Most Famous Car in the World!

Bah-Humbug to all AJBers. After the "Bond" Slim Pickings at this year's PS Live Auction, I found myself pulling large wads of cash out the back of the sofa with nowhere to stick it! (answers on a postcard). Two years previous, Japan Poster had pretty much shocked the world of Bond poster collecting with a set of three Dr .No, FRWL and Goldfinger Box Office (Billboard) posters which measure 60" x 40" a piece. The set price was around the £150k mark. I immediately informed Michael G Wilson who is a known Bond poster collector (who else could afford them?) who passed on the opportunity. Until this time only the FRWL and Goldfinger were known to exist. With no takers, the set was to be sold individually and shockingly the price was roughly halved. In November 2024, I found myself in a position to secure the Goldfinger which had been discounted further. November 2025, I found myself in a position to go for the Dr. No which had been personally offered to me by the proprietor of Japan Poster, the most honourable Mr Maxamilian Fujiwara-San, back in August but I couldn't come up with the asking price, not even close in fact which initially as a collector two years previous was never even on my radar. I had been monitoring it throughout Japan poster's sales which it was never a part of but never thought I'd ever be in a position to secure it. The original art was by Mitchell Hooks and had formed the basis for the UK, US and international release images for the 1962 classic movie. With this 1963 poster, less is truly more because the image is simple yet striking and gives no hint as to what Agent OO7 as the Japanese called him (not James Bond, later to become known as Mr Kiss-Kiss Bang-Bang!) would become in the decades ahead? This billboard is the only known example of the poster to exist. It was displayed in the National Film Archive of Japan 10 years ago. It used to be owned by a famous Japanese collector prior to acquisition by Japan Poster Shop. The only time anyone had seen it was when it was on display in the museum. Initially (lifted from Japan Poster's website & NOT my words) Dr .No was expected to be a flop or just like any other film, not the first in one of the longest and most popular film series! This thing is stunning. It was restored by Fourth Cone Restoration in the US. Prior to restoration it was heavily folded and heavily water damaged but Honey just look at her now!! 🤓
Perusing the inventory on Japan Poster's website is like thumbing through a book by Thomas Nixdorf. The quality of the illustrations are stunning and breath taking and the rarity of the unique Japanese art may make you never look at a UK quad or US one sheet in the same way again? I look at these images and in my head I hear the opening bars of "Mountains and Sunsets" by Maestro John Barry! ❤️

Japanese paper tat 👏🏻 my favourite ☺️
As rare as it gets in the world of Japanese OO7 paper tat collecting. An original release B2 poster. Simply bloody awe inspiring! 🤤
That IS nice…even if the hand/face composition is off…and I don’t recall ever seeing that variation before 👏🏻
Rare paper tat? absolutely but not Japanese for a change 🤓
Dated 1967, original Aurora model kit store posters for their Bond and Oddjob kits which retailed at a staggering $1.29 each!
I like those 👏🏻
I like the design of this window card, now on auction: https://propstoreauction.com/lot-details/index/catalog/398/lot/141609?url=%2Fauctions%2Fcatalog%2Fid%2F398%3Fpage%3D3%26view%3Dgrid%26catm%3Dany%26order%3Dorder_num%26xclosed%3Dyes%26featured%3Dno%26key%3Djames%2Bbond&fbclid=IwY2xjawE7-IRleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHRCgVz58XYnkRtnI3N57b-cwSOiNpCqVhSyWTTizhKO37cQOKkRiRjqJkg_aem_yxZLtpKUUNyI8LY2bvfESg

That’s a great poster…thanks for sharing 🍸
Wonderful poster !
And after a spot of linen backing:
You can still make out the tear across the Technicolor logo 🤔
You have to squint bloody hard to see it though 👀
It’s looking fabulous now 🍸
Should have used PrittStick. Can’t go wrong with PrittStick.

Lucky bloody you!! 😃

Very nice addition, and out of all the one-page and double-page illustrated diagrams of the DB5, this is perhaps the most comprehensive and complete.
Quite funny how it says the machine guns are fired by the gear knob button.
