Give him a PPS for godsake. All this sentimaental crud is like an anchor to the character and he doesn't need it. This Bond is bang up to date, why lumber him with an old gun. Even worse, why lumber him with a very nice old gun and ruin it by adding great ugly greeblies. It's horrible aesthetically and utterly dumb tactically. So there.

In the USA the Walther is not a player...Glockes and Sigs dominate with an 92f every so often. I talk with Ex- Navy Seals, Police and military folks. The new Walther PDQ is getting some excitement and might be quickly finding its way into service.

In the USA the Walther is not a player...Glockes and Sigs dominate with an 92f every so often. I talk with Ex- Navy Seals, Police and military folks. The new Walther PDQ is getting some excitement and might be quickly finding its way into service.

Don't worry about Bondtoys, he's an eejit that doesn't know the lock from the stock and can barely recognise a barrel. Although, his watch knowledge is superior to that of.. er, other pillocks.
Ex- Navy Seals, Police and military folks in the US are very different from SF in the UK. True the SEALs train with the SBS regularly to transfer skill sets, but apart from that SEALs are number intensive, whereas the SBS operates with fewer personnel and with more specific operational directives. As such they don't have to buy in bulk as the SEALs do, and can gain a greater diversity in arms. The SRR is an even more specialist unit with even fewer serving personel doing an even greater specialist role. They don't have to rely on the best but cheapest available option like Glocks (which is why they are so prominent in service worldwide). They can afford to use more specialist and expensive equipment because they don't have to buy in bulk.
The PPK and PP has been in service for decades, and like the L9A1 BHP, it has proven itself in combat. That is why they are still in use by us today. And that is why the L9A1 and the PP, PPK have even at this time not been fully replaced by the SIG P226 (L105A1) and SIG P229A2 (L117A2), despite those two (although the P229A2 was previously in service as the P228) being in service for well over 12 years now. We also bought in HK P7's and suppressed versions, as well as Walther P5 Compacts (L102A1). Although reports that the latter were supplied to 14 Company are not true. They were actually bought in for fighter pilots. PPS, P99 and other modern Walthers are in service within the UK to some extent. Nottingham ARU's had the P99.

Incidently back in the day we purchased our own 9mm Glock 17 as only PT17 & SO19 had em as standard kit. Additionally even though the 9mm MP5A3 was standard issue some PT17 units opted for the 9mm Steyr AUG carbine.

Seems odd to bring back the PPK. It's nice for nostalgic reasons and all..... but does it really have a place in the modern world?
Reall.. does it? I am no weapons expert but it seems to me having Bond carry around a little gun with only 6 shots is a bit silly. The P99 was a bit bulky but I would say it makes more sense than a PPK.
Surely there must be a gun that is fairly small but with a good amount of ammo.

Agree completely - i was thinking this the other day - what possible benefits do a signature gun have?
what happens if you cannot fire for some reason and have to kick the gun to your colleague, who picks it up to take the shot and NOTHING.
There are absolutely no benefits apart from showing off the technology. There must be a reason somewhere in this story?
