Yes, "The TV remote", My Precious I keep one on each arm of the Chair
so I look like Cpt Kirk. :))

In the 'Rose' household I don't get near the remote ... I'm not allowed 'to drive' as they say ... they may have a point. We have a TiVo box (which is dreadful I might add) and I just randomly press buttons because it annoys me so much ....

My favourite gadget is probably my iPhone. Resisted for a long time then finally took the plunge. Love it.

    1) Is it the latest iPhone? Does it work just as well as an iPod or do you prefer to keep them separate?

    2) What is the gadget that allows one to watch TV shows when you want to, rather than when they're scheduled? You know my retired Dad complains the best stuff begins around midnight, when all thru daytime it's rubbish nonsense. Is the gadget easy to work?

Sky HD (ad maybe some other Sky packages) have Sky on Demand, i think it's called, that allows you to watch popular shows, well, on demand. You can also record stuff onto a hard drive to watch anytime. It's pretty easy, even I can use it without 'teenage intervention'. :))

    1) Yep its the 5 and works as very well as an iPod.

    2) The Tivo is Virgin cable . I personally thinks its rubbish. We got it as an upgrade from a Virgin+ box. It has all the catch up on demand and stuff. Forget TiVo, Virgin+ is better. Much more intuitive.

Okay so does Virgin+ allow you to watch programmes on normal Big Five channels whenever you want?

Hope you guys don't mind me butting in but have you any views or heard any reviews about
    BT YouView I've been told it isn't wireless ( Which I can't believe these days 8-) )
although they do supply a couple of plug in adapters to send the signal round the house.
It just that as a BT customer I can get it for £5 a month, which I think is a good deal. But
I don't know how good the system is.

Yes it does. You have the Catch Up on Demand feature which basically gives you all the programmes shown on the main channels for the past 7 days. It's pretty cool, especially if you have forgotten to record something ( in fact sometimes I don't bother to record because I know it will be on Catch Up) and it also cuts out adverts .

We changed from Sky to Virgin a while ago as we had a lot of issues with the boxes. Lost signal every time it rained, which is obviously not a problem with cable, and also had issues with faulty boxes which we then ended up having to buy a couple in very quick succession. Cable you rent the box so any problems an engineer comes pretty pronto and box is replaced for free.

I much preferred the V+ box but I think Sky do similar things now, so you have to compare.

Sorry Thunderpussy, no nothing about the BT thing .... :)

Oh, one last thing, do any of the above TV gadgets actually allow you to record?

If not, then does it mess up your connections, ie plugging in a DVD recorder, video recorder, then BT thing, doesn't it all get messy and confusing? ?:)

You record onto a built-in Hard Drive that's within the box, so no wires needed! {[]

Mine is certainly my iPad. I only got it earlier this year and I just can't imagine life without it.

Internet on the move, movies, maps, it's even a bloody good SatNav when connected to the car stereo via jack plug.

As it's near Christmas and my funds are going on others, ( aren't Families expensive :)) ) I got
an El Cheapo one off a shopping channel a GoClever 500, 5 inch screen for watching Bond videos
( Which I mainly used my old MP3 for ), and I can show Some of my photography to clients, as I
sometimes bump into possible customers in Pubs and clubs etc. Although I think it will make more
time for me to visit AJB007, as I feel I don't spend enough time on it . :))

Got a great deal on a Sony nex3n, a camera as small as a compact but with an APS-C sized sensor.
Stunning photos from a tiny camera that will fit in a trouser pocket. I now carry it on me all the time.

Got to say, I recently got a Microsoft Surface (it's a tablet, and a laptop) and I am finding I can't live without it. I have all of my work stuff on here, and my personal life too. I even find myself taking it to the bath with me. Because it's a touchscreen and a keyboard (if needed) it is a lot more versatile than a normal laptop.

That aside, it's got to be my 5.11 RUSH 24 tactical pack, which I also love for work. Never had a daysack that good before.

I only have a cheap little tablet, but I now can't imagine life without it. :)) , even when I'm watching TV
I can pop into AJB to see what's occuring. :D

I was the same, I had an iPad but it didn't have all the functionality I needed, and it was no use for work. The little Microsoft Surface though is amazing.

I am currently watching Skyfall, answering work emails and surfing several websites. All I need it to do now is make me cups of tea :))

Alas, she is currently at work and only provisioned me with two cups before she left.

However, I assume this is because she is not used to me not being at work.

iPad. Probably the most used thing in the house. The lap top (Sony Viao of course :s ) is gathering dust. Wife shops, facebooks, emails, the kids play loads of games on it and I use it all the time because frankly, plugging in the laptop and waiting for it to boot up takes far too much time, space etc when you just want to fire off an email or search for porn... Sorry, browse the net. :D
