Every time I see this thread I think for a brief second it's telling me to watch some porn.

Also, my QoS P.O. on a Casino Royale rubber strap.

That fire house was also used as the Chinese medicine

Funny you should mention that logo! I'm currently waiting on a copy of the original blueprints of the actual firehouse (the movie's interior was actually in LA, but IDC) to arrive. I'm going to have each level of the floorplan framed and, in the center, have that FDNY logo in the middle.

Sorry I've not been around for a while but I got very lucky and am finally getting a half-decent watch. Found this beautiful art deco-style Emporio Armani watch in, of all places, a charity shop.

My significant other has bought it for me as an early birthday present - so I won't be able to see it again for a month. It's not exactly up there with Omega Seamaster prices, but still it was a £160 or so watch selling for £40.

(Edit: For the record it's model number is AR5328)

Thanks Peppermint. I especially wanted something square-faced and art-deco looking. It's hardly in the Omega or Rolex class (I gather they're made by Fossil) but I don't get paid Omega or Rolex money!

I would like to ask your help/opinion on this first world problem that I am having. I am looking for my next Omega and I would really like an Aqua Terra. But which one?! I haven’t had that eureka moment of really finding that one that blows all the others out of the water. So far I know for sure that I don’t want another blue faced watch. I like the black faced AT, both new and old, but aren’t really looking for a black watch right now. I prefer my next watch to have a light coloured dial.

This brings me to my problem. I have narrowed down my search to the newer 2017 Aqua Terra with the orange second hand in 41 mm and the older 2015 Aqua Terra with rose gold indexes. Every time I try on a 38 or 38.5 mm Aqua Terra I feel it is too small for me. So that narrows down the choice somewhat.

Both come on a leather strap (picture 1).
    Pick_NChoose41415.jpg

The new version also comes on a bracelet. I prefer a bracelet on my watch so if I choose to go for the 2015 version I will have to buy that separately (picture 2).
    Pick_NChoose41415_Steel.jpg

To me the Aqua Terra is either a dressy sports watch or a sporty dress watch. The new version falls in the former category, while the old version falls in the latter category IMHO. I know that in the end I will have to make my own decision but I would like to hear your input. Which one do you prefer and is there something that I am overlooking here? Also, what is your way of deciding if you are torn between two watches (or other things)? Both are available at my AD and I will be able to get them for about the same price. Since Omega is very good at making their watches look terrible in the pictures on their website, here are two videos that better show off the watches. 2017: https://youtu.be/zBngEjKpMOc 2015: https://youtu.be/X9hw2sP3qDU

    Pros and cons:

    220.12.41.21.02.001 (new, left on pictures)
    +a bit sportier
    +better legibility
    +available on bracelet
    +less text on the dial
    +new 8900 movement, master chronometer
-still not sure about the horizontal teak and orange seconds hand

    231.13.42.21.02.003 (old, right on pictures)
    +a bit dressier
    +I like the strap better
    +vertical teak on dial
    +old style case
-older 8500 movement, needs to be serviced sooner

It really depends on how you intend to wear the the watch. Are you going to wear it casually or in a more professional environment?

I personally wouldn't go for the rose gold indices, they look fine with a Black leather strap, but somewhat limit the watch to more dressy. I'd go for the 2017 personally on a bracelet. But whichever way you go, you'll have a nice watch, and can add leather straps or natos later.

Hi MikeG77 and Chriscoop. Thank you for your input! My girlfriend said something today that got me thinking. The two watches that I wear now, regularly, are an Omega SMP in blue and a Seiko Orange Monster. Buying the 2017 AT would give me another ´sporty, casual´ watch while buying the older version would give me a dressier option. Apart from the gold Eterna that I inherited from my grandfather I really haven´t got a watch that would fit that bill. So she suggested that I would buy ´up´ compared to my other watches instead of something in a similar vein of what I already have. There is something to that thought.

I would use the watch as an everyday watch together with my SMP. To work I oftentimes wear a suit (although I am working at a university where most people wear more casual clothing), or at least a pair of dark jeans with a dress shirt or (in summer) a polo. The strap on the 2015 is a very, very dark brown by the way.

If you told me you wore a suit most of the week I'd be more inclined to agree with your girlfriend but since you dress casually I'd go with the 2017 model. Omega has a lot of strap options so you can customize the watch to suit any situation. If you don't mind me asking what's the difference in cost between the 2 models?

During fall, winter and early spring I wear a suit 3 out of 4 working days, so that would favour the older model in your eyes, am I right?
The difference in price is negligible. €5100,- for the 2015 version, €5000,- for the newer model on leather, €5100 on a bracelet. In all cases I will be able to talk about 20% off of the retail price at my local AD. So both will end up a hair over €4000,- The only thing is the extra bracelt/straps. Omega sells those at crazy prices.

I’d go with the newer one. It’s a sports watch at heart, and a sports watch that looks too dressy is not very versatile in my opinion.
