So I visited my local Omega dealer today as they emailed me to inform me the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300m (presented at baselworld earlier this year) was in store.

Asking about the new Grey faced version with Blue rubber strap that had appeared in the ad on the Omega website with Daniel Craig as James Bond they confirmed that this WILL be the new James Bond watch to be worn in the next film.

Here's me with the Grey face and Blue rubber strap as well as with the classic Blue version.

I suppose it's feasible, depending on omegas contract with eon that Omega have waited to release this DC/Bond marketing of the diver having originally planned to run it alongside Bond 25 promotions or at least filming with some well placed... Ahem spy shots of DC wearing the diver. With all the issues over the actual film production perhaps Omega have the green light to start their own prouduct promotion? I've often wondered why they keep it secret when it's a standard watch? This would also tie in the "commander" limited ed
On the other hand its probably an over zealous sales person trying to make a sale.

Picked up a new Connery homage, 2013 Steinhart Ocean One Vintage, 42mm “Big Crown”. Just waiting for my “Real James Bond Strap” to arrive. I’m absolutely loving this watch!

Yeah I would only buy that if you like the watch - no way would I believe a Omega staff member at this stage in the game. Seems far too early and we know Omega keep it locked down at very high level.

Not ruling it out, but personally I would wait and see - dont take a hit like I did during SPECTRE. Omega aint no Rolex when it comes to selling on

That’s nice! Be sure to post a picture of it on the strap when it arrives!
    Steinhart make very good watches.

Does anyone here have any good recommendations on searching for an ‘81 Submariner 16800 with date?

Of course checking out the usual, Chrono24, eBay, Rolex forum but am I missing somewhere amazing?

I’m looking for original, with box (maybe papers)

    Cheers all
    If you're in the USA, Bob's Watches in CA is a great place for vintage Rolex. Not sure if they ship outside the country, but may be able to work something out. Also, Phillipe's Watches in Beverly Hills. I bought my Patek there and he gives a GREAT price and guarantees authenticity. I've purchased from both places and was very happy with the transactions. Bob's watches specifically specializes in vintage Rolex, so I'd start there. -{

Don't own a Steinhart but I am waiting for a few of their models to go down to the 39mm size before I make a move. 42mm with those straight lugs are too big for me.

As far as the new Seamasters, they aren't my cup of tea at all. Call me boring or traditional but they just aren't my style. I feel the new wave pattern is too in your face and I really prefer the subtle waves of the Brosnan and Craig models.

Rubber with a suit/tux is a bit too much for me. I'm not a traditionalist by any means but somethings just don't look right to me. Bond doesn't even wear the rubber planet ocean with a suit and tie in Casino Royale. Definitely can be pulled off in a sports jacket for a casual smart look though.

Is Tom Ford getting ready to ease out Omega as the James Bond's watch of choice?: https://www.tomford.com/watches/the-curated-collection/

Does TF have any original designs? And further more, what's with the prize tags? I mean 9900$ for a quartz Cartier Tank homage when a the real one can be had from Cartier online shop for 8200$, and that is with a mechanical movement!

Doubt the thought crossed the Bond teams mind at all and I bet TF days are numbered regarding Bond if this is Daniels final film. As far as im aware they have not been confirmed for the clothes yet and Jany wont be working on Bond 25 either.

I heard in the past TF def does not get its own way with Bonds clothes either.

Omega just recently had a Bond promo so presume their deal didnt end with SPECTRE. Imagine its one hell of a strong deal they have with EON $$$

These are just expensive fashion watches, the Tom ford name on them seems to push the price of a cheap watch way up. I mean 2k for a stainless steel watch with a quartz movement? Without the tf branding and even if it has a good quartz movement it's no more than £300, I can buy eta quartz movement for £50.

I'm having a slight change in Watch direction, I've still got my Omega collection but happened upon a Panerai Luminor on an auction which had no interest in it, I got it very cheap, the box and straps alone are worth more than what I paid, downside is that the movement is buggered, and I mean royally buggered. I knew this before as it was listed as such. Ive stripped it down now and I'm waiting for a new movement to arrive. I'm not going to the expense of putting in a panerai movement but they themselves have been known to put eta movements in so this is what I'm doing. I posted a pic of the watch earlier on in the thread.

I'm hoping to modify the eta movement to accept the original rotor. I don't know but the old movement looked like the hairspring had popped and someone had pulled it out as it is completely missing! And there was a lot of damage to various wheels in there too. A nice little project for me and I've always liked the Panerai watches.

So, my “Real James Bond” strap arrived yesterday and although it’s very well made and as accurate as you can get. I’m not 100% sure I like the way it looks on the Ocean One Vintage. It’s strange, I loved my Bond Nato on my Invicta. I’m going to wear it for a week and then decide.

From the discussion below that article: "But in real-life, Moore continued to wear Rolexes until the 1990s when his principal daily watch became a Breitling. So, during the 1970s, Moore wore first a Pepsi-bezel GMT-Master on an Oyster bracelet (I think he subsequently gifted this watch to one of his sons) and later a 16013 Rolesor Datejust with a fluted bezel and champagne baton dial. Like most 16013s at the time, it was matched with a Jubilee bracelet. Interestingly enough too, this exact timepiece can be seen in the scenes of Moore's final (1985) Bond outing, 'A View to a Kill', where he is pretending to be an aristocratic Englishman names James St. John Smythe. On occasions this watch is misidentified as a two-tone Seiko Quartz watch, but it was actually Moore's personal Rolex Datejust. "

Quite interesting, I wonder who was the one who first "identified" this Seiko? There is one who's name I cannot utter here for the fear of getting rained sh!t upon, who has this (actually fake) info on his web page: ""NAME WITHHELD" identification September 2009, working with Mark Mills, Seiko UK" :)) :)) :)) Not really surprising, is it. Although; given that persons (alledged) dubious relationship with what is perceived generally as truth hereabouts, is it possible that this misidentification has its roots with some one else?

Anyways, this is quite depressing because I had believed this fake news about this Seiko quite some time, and had quietly warmed up to the idea of a "pensioner" Bond watch. Now the whole deal got a whole lot moore expensive!!! :#

I’ve just managed to find a Seiko M354 5010 Moonraker Watch in near mint condition B-)
For a watch that is 39 years old, it barely has a mark on it. Absolutely amazing condition!
And at such a bargain price, it was impossible to pass up. Don’t think I’m planning to wear it, I think it will be for my display only.

Yes, I know, those wise enough will point out that it is the wrong colour watch but the condition was just too good to pass up.

Now, if only I could find a NOS replacement black face somewhere..... :#

Oooooooh!!!!!! Look what I found on eBay at the same time.... :D

Now, I just need to find a watchmaker willing and able to open her up (take out the explosive) and swap the face over...
I’ll post the result here once it’s done! :D

So, I finally managed to find somebody willing and able enough to swap out the facia for me and clean/service the modules and connectors inside. The result being an almost brand new looking Seiko M354 Moonraker watch! I’m very pleased with the result! :D

    I’d happily recommend Adam at Digital-Watch.Com e-mail purchase@vintagelcd.com
