The Yachtmaster has been around for much longer before the PO was introduced :D

Omega even went as far as ripping off the design of the 3-dimensional numbers from the Yachtmaster bezel:

Interesting. Now i feel like my Omega's are just expensive rip offs. :(

So, Rolex introduced the modified YM yesterday in Basel.
    What are the expert's thoughts:

    Rolex-Yacht-Master-116655-268655-Everose-Gold-Ceramic-aBlogtoWatch-18.jpg

I've just came across with this:

    http://rolexblog.blogspot.de/2009/10/yachtmaster-origins-history.html

It writes about the history of the YM and there are 2 (non-official points) that fascinate me:

    1. In the late 80s Rolex was playing with design games on how to replace the Submariner and the result was what we know the Yachtmaster today.

    2. It obviously took them at least 5 years to put the final produst in the showcases. That's a VERY long time!
And I wonder how scared they have been to give the iconic Submariner the Supercase :D . The Maxidial was already there for almost 8 years in the 16610 LV.

My Omega on a Phoenix Nato strap.
Quality of these is absolutely great for the money, very impressed.

My beater on the Bond Omega strap wears different to traditional NATO so you have to move it about a bit to get the right fit.

    Cheers

I like the look of the NATO strap, but I find it makes the watch top heavy which makes the watch slip, they seem to fit either to lose or to tight for me :#

I would love a NATO strap but share your concerns...plus it's a LOT of money - especially if you aren't happy with the result...

At the weekend I was sorting out my suit for my forthcoming role as FOTB, and I went into our local jewellers and looked at the Tudor Pelagos ........... I am a complete novice when it comes to watches but I was really impressed with it and how light it was, even to the point where I may consider replacing my Omega PO for one.

Waits for wise words and advice from Higgins, which will be much appreciated {[]

The Pelagos is made of Titanium which is significantly lighter that steel.

If you are getting a Pelagos, you should wait until they are fitted with the manufacture movement and then ASK ME (otherwise you'll pay too much ;) )

Not sure if I'd get rid of the PO though - still a great watch even it's not a Rolex :D

Love the group shot David - looking very smart!

I guess its looking more likely that this SM300 wont be available as NATO version and a case of buying the strap separately

Could I add my two penneth on the Tudor Pelagos front with two points. Firstly, try one on, they look and feel massive. Secondly, they are bringing a new one out with blue face which looks fantastic. Its sort of a take on the white gold rolex sub 116619 with similar shade of blue. Hope this helps.

After going into the Omega shop last weekend to have my PO put on the Nato strap I ended up coming out with this instead. I really wasn't fussed about it before but after seeing it in the flesh, trying it on and buying it, it really has grown on me. Even the stainless strap looks better in the flesh and out of the shiny lights of the shop although the watch looks 100 times better on the Nato IMO.

There are still some bits I am undecided on, like the yellow markers, but overall I am more than happy with it.

When they put a date on the new 300 watch, I'll bite. Until then, no dice.

PS: Looks great on the nato!
