Ok. I'll let TF know to go for screen accurate.

But we need to confirm width.

TF's Bond 'branded' ties were 3' (I'm talking about the ties that TF sold in stores to commemorate skyfall - I bought one of them).

And the monotone blue doesn't look 2.75'. Were they all varying widths?

All three look the same width to me on film!

This doesn't look 2.75' wide; looks closer to 3' +

Can anybody who went to the auction or exhibit comment on the width?

It measured 6.85" to me on the screen

    We have two options:

    1. 2.75'

    2. 3'

TF rep in New York told me that Skyfall ties were 3'. But he could be mistaken. That said, the special promo ties were 3'.

If we go 3', they can be narrowed later on professionally. If we go 2.75' and discover later they were slightly wider, then we can't widen it.

    Agreed. I would do 3"

When I did my order I didnt tell them how wide to make them, I told them I wanted them skyfall width and that's how they came, the pic I posted above is from christies and it matches the width of the ties I had made.

I think the pic below answers the question:

    Bond.jpg

If it was 3', the tie would divide evenly into 3 bars. But using the method above, it fills up 2.75 bars.

So barring compelling evidence that they were 3', request 2.75'?

I would suggest telling them 7cm, as their ties are listed in metric in their internal paperwork. Or as Simon suggested, tell them we want the Skyfall width. The ties that came out last season in the narrower width (those that we saw labeled as "James Bond") were listed in the TF catalog as "1TM" which was 8cm.

I also vote for the 7cm width and no self-tip.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

    Awesome, thanks Craig.

My pleasure!! Please add me to the 2nd London tri-color tie as well.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Oh bugger. Guess I'm in for them too then :D

I'd prefer the 3 inch versions as it is easy to take them in if needed. The thinner ones will be out of fashion within months.

Thanks for all the interest guys.

Note that I requested a run of 24 ties from TF, and I'm going to see if I can increase it to 30+. We filled up the allotment pretty fast. I'll have more info tomorrow hopefully.

In hindsight, 2.75' isn't that bad style wise IMO. It doesn't look bad on DC's suits.

I'm in for 1 of each of the 3 styles.

My vote goes for SA width.

I'd be happier with the 3 inch as it's easier to alter if need be but will go for SA if that's what everyone wants :007)
