Don't get me started on AVTAK(worse bond movie ever). Half of Stacey's lines are just to scream

Right again! I'll even forgive your little slap at Goldfinger! :))

    I do agree that Stacey is an annoying Bond Girl and that Moore looks like he was embalmed, but AVTAK has some great Action and Set Pieces -{

I’m so glad to see some defense of AVTAK on here! (Although, the more people I talk to, the more I realize that liking AVTAK isn’t necessarily uncommon.)

And to those of you who like J.W. Pepper, I have two things to say to you: 1) Boooo! 2) Even if you find him amusing, do you really think he belongs in a Bond film?

    Yes and yes!
LALD and TMWTGG where shot long before 'Smokey and the Bandit' so the EON guys invented a character that has been used for years afterwards.

And Sir Miles only got the job here because his face and attitude is precisely Pepperish :)) :)) :))

J.W. Pepper was a fit in LALD, but IMO it was unnecessary to bring him back in TMWTGG.

I think Scaramanga and Zorin are both second-rate villains, but they get a lot of praise from fans--because I believe those fans are looking at the bodies of work from Christopher Lee and Christopher Walken and not looking at the individual films and performances. So there.

Me neither. The star power of those actors transcends their characters; if Walken had never been a Bond villain we would have been crying out for him to do so. And Lee was an inevitable choice- being considered by Eon as far back as DN.

I know many people liked her performance in NSNA but I thought
Barbara Carrera's acting was WAY over the top ! :))

I like this thread! I am going to be sharing an opinion that I think I shared on this forum years ago, and so far, I don't think any one has ever really agreed on it with me. But it's the first 'unpopular opinion' that came to mind, so here goes:

I think Talisa Soto wasn't a bad actress in her role as Lupe Lamora in Licence to Kill. (!)
Her "I love James SO much" line isn't supposed to be a sign of bad acting, or a weird thing in which she immediatly fell in love with James. It was clearly supposed to be a taunt towards Pam. (Hence why Pam is so annoyed by the line when she leaves). Also in the end she just goes of with that other guy, clearly showing that she wasn't in love with Bond at all...
So no bad acting, - it was a TAUNT.

    There you go :D

The Spy Who Loved Me is vastly overrated. I don't know what people see in that film. At the risk of repeating myself from another thread:
the name "Agent XXX" is too generic (don't EON have any imagination anymore?), Barbara Bach is hopelessly miscast (never looked like she could hurt a fly, let alone kill Bond), and General Gogol was superfluous. It only got better when Bond was taken on board Stromberg's ship (whatever it's called, I can't remember now).

I'm seriously perplexed as to why it's so highly rated.

I always assumed the name "XXX" was a play on the term XXX Movies ( I have only heard about them )
    So she got instead of a funny/sexual name a Funny/sexual Codename. :))
For me I just remember being amazed by it on first seeing it in he cinema ! {[]
    ( Doesn't mean I'm right, only hold a different opinion ) :D

I agree TSWLM is overrated. The only thing that really impresses me about TSWLM is the PTS, especially the jump at the end.

I have to agree that I've never seen Lupe's mention of how she "loves James so much" as a taunt. Why would she bother to taunt Pam? At that point, I don't think Pam had ever even expressed any feelings for Bond, so why taunt her? And, not to sound cruel, but I've always thought of Lupe as a bit intellectually limited, so I don't think it would even occur to her to do anything as sophisticated as taunting Pam over another man.
  • AlphaOmegaSinAlphaOmegaSin EnglandPosts: 10,924MI6 Agent
I've always found Lupe's sudden love for James rather odd ?:)
