    MR has one of the best Bond Soundtracks, especially during the Final Scene with the Race to destroy the last Globe -{

    I'd definitely Agree with that AOS - I think it's the turning point when John Barry's soundtracks became more mature and elegant (though there were hints of this in YOLT). The Flight Into Space track is one of my favourites.

    Have you listened to any of his other soundtracks such as Dances with Wolves and Out of Africa? I was lucky enough to attend a concert at John Barry staged at The Royal Albert Hall and all of his soundtracks were brilliant. -{

    There's an old Disney Si-Fi called " The Black Hole " which I
    Think is superb, IMHO one of J Barry's best. -{

    I would agree. And I'm not a fan of The World is Not Enough either.

    BMW was the wrong car for Bond.
    The marketing strategy for Goldeneye was aimed at making Bond a bit more international and accessible in many respects: Omega, Parker pens, Brioni suits etc. Out of all the alternatives to Aston Martin, BMW is probably the most accessible but aspirational. If the Z8 had been the regular car, much like Roger's Lotus, it would have worked better... The broad range of Beemers didn't help though.

    Charles Gray and Donald Pleasence should have swapped parts in YOLT.
    Interesting! Not sure I agree though, I think Donald Pleasance's cool detachment works better than Charles Grey's suaveness.

    I never liked the jacket Bond wears to Scaramanga's Island .

    It's Grey whose face I picture as Blofeld when reading YOLT or OHMSS.

    Much as I think Charles Grey was a fantastic actor. I do think his
    Talents were wasted in DAF. Although his appearance is closer to
    The Blofeld from the novel OHMSS. There is just NO menace, in his
    Characterisation.

    I'll get panned for this but... Johnny English is a better film than DAD. {:) The standard of acting is better, the soundtrack it better, the plot is more realistic and Rowan Atkinson does a better job than Brosnan. I don't like either film but if forced at gunpoint...

    Everyone regularly slates the Bugs Bunny/Road Runner parasailing FX in DAD, but to ME, the bad volcano-spewing-lava shot in YOLT is WAAAY more irritating.

    To be honest I can forgive them for doing it
    way,way back on 67. I'm sure it was the best they
    could do at the time. DAD, just made the mistake
    of depending too much on cgi, a mistake several
    films are guilty of.

    +1. A shame as Charles Grey was very menacing in The Devil Rides Out.

    Barbel, Have you ever seen pictures of "The Great Beast", Alistair Crowley? It's said that Fleming based Blofeld's eyes on Crowley, and it's his face is see when reading Fleming's portrayal of Blofeld.

    Thanks C&D. Crowley fits the TB Blofeld, and I can easily picture him there. The only other face I see for Blofeld in TB, reading Fleming's description, is....

    Albert R. Broccoli

    The highpoint of the Bond franchise (so far) is Licence To Kill.
    Fleming-esque Bond in a Fleming-esque story with a peerless villain, a suitably psycho henchman, a crazy sexy & capable Bond girl, an excellent Q in the field who, as it turns out, doesn't seem to snore, and a wink from a fish in the end to finish it all off.

    I think Sean Connery was bland as James Bond. Pierce Brosnan was great!

    Die Another Day is a great film in the series. The Spy Who Loved Me and OHMSS sucked!

    Dr. Jones in TWINE is a great Bond girl, but I disliked her counter-part.
