Facts are only relevant when they agree with your opinion ? ;) Oddly enough I have no training
in music, yet manage to know what I like, without the need for polls to tell me. What I should like. :D
I'm no fan of either Sam or Radiohead, an ordinary punter ;) and of the two songs presented, in my
opinion the Producers made the right choice. As to which song is better? That's as subjective as
do you prefer Picasso to Munch. :))
As always friends not looking for an argument, after all in my opinion the greatest band of all time
    was Jive Bunny. :D

By the way Revolver66, what makes you think my comments were directed at you ? ;)
There are many members commenting on this thread, as for Citizen Kane being the best
movie ever made ? ..... seems that Fact has now changed !
    http://www.bfi.org.uk/news/50-greatest-films-all-time
The current Fact is that Vertigo, is Now considered the best film ever made, so it would
appear that Facts like opinions can Change. :p eh! hombre

    http://www.thetoptens.com/most-influential-rock-groups/

wow, all these music sites listing top influential, bands etc and no mention of Radiohead. :p
Guess I can find Facts too. :))

Gee i've obviously riled you up a tad here to make you go to all of that effort ;) However, You are correct, in their annual 10 year poll Sight and Sound has dropped Citizen Kane to number 2. However what I was actually referring to is that by aggregate over the past 70 odd years Citizen Kane is most definitely the most lauded film of all time. No film has been named the greatest more often by critics the world over than Citizen Kane. And yes whilst there are undoubtedly lists that don't include Radiohead, that link that I previously sent you rounded up all published best of lists in music journalism and calculated the most prominent bands and albums. As you can see, they did pretty well.

    Anyways i'm off aye :))

Not riled at all, ;) just went looking for some Facts ( as they seem to be used to back up opinion),
also no trouble only took a few seconds to find a few sites. :D I'm a big movie fan and knew about
Vertigo getting the top spot. ( still have my hopes the critics will push Adam Sandler's masterpiece
Jack and Jill up there someday ) :)

Radiohead are one of THE most boring bands of all time...and their SPECTRE 'attempt' sounds like water going down a plug hole - only not as melodic ! X-(

Woah there TP...I'm still in mourning for Joe Dolce knocking Ultravox's Vienna off the top spot..now Ultravox doing a Bond theme..there's a thought???? 8-)

I've listened to it yesterday and really dislike it. Nothing that is hooking, no memorable lyrics (to be fair, you don't understand much of them anyway); overall I'm very glad they used WOTW.

Radiohead might be good if Thom Yorke sang properly. Instead he always wants to sound like a sad 15-year-old girl.

Don't mind a bit of Radiohead now and again. Especially their 90's stuff. Their song for SPECTRE though is awful. :#

I thought it was mostly very popular TP? Have to say I love the orchestral version on the soundtrack and I did buy Sams version but I just found his vocals a touch simpering, I usually like Sam Smiths voice, can't really explain it??

I for one never hated it, but wasn't a particular fan either. However I have to admit Daniel Kleinman's title's go hand in hand with it in such a superb way. Can't help but smile throughout the whole title sequence, as was the case for me again yesterday in the theatre's :) - I think it helps that the course of the song comes in faster in the movie. (Gives the song some more pace)

I liked the song, I just wasn't crazy about Sam Smith's version.

I felt it would've been better performed by a female singer.

I said it the first time I heard it and that's still my opinion.

Foolish consistency is, after all, the hobgoblin of small minds. :))

WOTW really grew on me. Ok, the vocals are a bit meh, but the track itself is beautiful. Shame it wasn't used more in the film.

I really didn't like Sam Smith's Bond theme song when I first heard it, I remember reading somewhere Daniel Craig saying just wait until the film comes out and the song will slot in to place. Sure enough it did and I have grown to like it quite a lot.

Interestingly I also read in an interview somewhere Daniel Craig is a fan of Radiohead, so maybe he influenced them coming on board to give it a shot. I grew up listening to them myself and have always quite liked the band but I have to admit their version was a bit off-beat/odd.

I've spent the morning listening to the last 4 theme songs, for me I think out of all of them Adele and Sam Smith's emotes that classic or traditional "Bond" feeling the most. I don't think Chris Cornell's theme has dated to well but I liked it at the time, I think it would sit well on a Brosnan film and I'm not going to talk about Quantum of Solace.

DC actually interviewed Thom Yorke from the band when he presented a radio show a few years back, and did admit to being a radiohead fan, I like radioheads earlier work and have there earlier albums but for me they just got too weird after OK computer, thank God they used Sam Smith this time round. Personally I was hoping the band Muse might have done a theme tune.

Alas, I always wanted Bowie to have a go :( ...but who knows if he'd ever have been game for it. He didn't want to be Max Zorin, at any rate. A classic 'might have been.'

As I wrote my post I was thinking of suggesting Muse, their song for the London Olympics was pretty well received from memory but I think they are likely to produce something similar sounding to Chris Cornell.

Do you think? They are a pretty diverse band, I'm a huge fan of there's and already they've done 3 or 4 songs with a bondian sound, but I reckon any song with an electric guitar driven theme is likely to be compared against cornell and dare I say jack white.

You have a point. I agree. I do think they are quite diverse I like them a lot they'd be a good choice for the next one.
