If you want to you can pick any film apart, even Citizen Kane, I'm sure :))
For me I just want to enjoy the ride, and go where ever Mr Bond takes me ! {[]

That film might have worked better if Rosebud was a cello.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

Thunderball wasn't poorly received. So there goes your theory.
Thunderball is considered the first duff film of the series. Lots of people enjoy it, but objectively it has a lot of problems.

    Never heard that before :s

Thunderball is a masterpiece (and my personal favourite Bond film :)) )
I don't think it classifies as being "considered the first duff film of the series". Possibly some may not like it but the box office says otherwise.

    Moonraker was also hugely popular as was Die Another Day, both very successful at the box office. So if Spectre does anywhere near the business of those, it will be in illustrious company. -{

The film was a success, earning a total of $141.2 million worldwide, exceeding the earnings of the three previous Bond films. In 1966, John Stears won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects[3] and production designer Ken Adam was also nominated for a BAFTA award.[4] Thunderball was the most financially successful film of the series after adjusting for inflation

Good to see all the love for good old Thunderball! May I also remind you gentlemen that Thunderball easily has the hottest line-up of Bond girls going for it as well? :D -

In a single film I suppose I agree. Though I personally find YOLT pretty darn close!!!! Too close.... for comfort! :))

YOLT has not passed the test of time with me as well as TB. Loved YOLT as a kid when it first came out, still enjoy it but TB is still my favorite Connery Bond to this day. IMO Connery was at his peak in TB. Probably due to his growing discontent with EON and playing Bond he seemed to let himself go a bit physically for YOLT and I think he just looked a bit paunchy and older than his years...more like a middle aged business man than a blunt instrument/assassin.

Thunderball was a great Bond movie! Defenitely a top 10 worthy one in my opinion. Moonraker went overboard, but it had great cinematography, special effects and humor. It's guilty pleasure for me! Die Another Day was admittedly pretty bad, but that's mainly after the first hour...

I have a feeling that SPECTRE is going to be a huge succes (Not just at the box-office, but it's going to please Diehard Bond fans like ourselves as well! (just a feeling)) I have faith in Mendes!

    Agreed!
Do you expect me to talk?

TB is a fantastic film. Connery’s only sour points are YOLT and DAF.

MR isn’t a good Bond film. Too cheesy, even by Roger Moore standards. Poor Rog. He didn’t make many ‘good’ Bond films, just lots of ‘popular’ ones. His only good ones are LALD, TSWLM and FYEO, I reckon.

And yes, DAD is THE worst Bond film. EVER.

I'll live in hope, until there is some evidence of a " Balls up" :D so far
From the little I've read and seen, it looks to be shaping up nicely. ;)

Thunderball might not have aged as beautifully as the movies which preceded and succeeded it, but I still wouldn't call it a curse.

I guess this is all subjective. People will only like it or not depending on their individual tastes and wants from a Bond movie.

If we're talking financially, then I think it's going to repeat Thunderball in terms of it's box office success. As it did for Thunderball, Spectre following on from a big hit like Skyfall will only improve it's chances of being a financial success.

Don't forget the huge box office success of Moonraker, which was the biggest considering inflation until Casino Royale. A lot of people loved Moonraker at the time. It was my favourite Bond film as a kid, and it's still the best Bond film for kids. Die Another Day did really well too. Considering how the fourth films of the previous Bond actors were all huge money successes, I'd hardly say there's any curse involved. It's quite the opposite. Apart from From Russia with Love, Bond actors' second Bond films are often the worst, either financially or creatively.

Yeah. Arguably Connery's and Moore's third films were their respective bests which built the excitement for their fourth film and therefore made them financial successes.

However people choose to look at this, since Quantum of Solace wasn't much of a movie, it really shouldn't count as the second film -- therefore, Spectre would be the third real film in the Craig series!
