The money shot... a real wow moment! Ken Adam's set!
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

I saw this in the 60s in a packed cinema. The reaction when the volcano set is revealed was one of awe. It looked (and was) spectacular.

Uncredited is Alexander Knox, a well-known at the time actor, as the head US man here.

I'm sorry I was only three years old at the time and never got to have that original experience!

The most spectacular James Bond set ever, in my opinion :007)

We all know that Czech actor Jan Werich was originally cast as Blofeld but was replaced a few days into the shooting (Gilbert and/or Broccoli thought he was too pleasant (pun not intended) looking to be Blofeld). Some/all shots of the faceless Blofeld are still him, though. (He got full pay)

This particular cat is my favourite of all of them in the Blofeld movies. It 'acts' in synchronicity with the beats of the dialogue... until it goes berserk with fear during the explosions later.

From this point the film begins to resemble Fleming's novel. Not terribly much, but more than before.

Erich Kocian described how awfully hot and humid it was when shooting on location in Japan.
You can see Connery sweating terribly in many scenes.

Kocian compared the climate to the Kongo
