The climax to the Bond/Mitchell fight is pretty darn good.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

Another brilliant Arnold Bondian cue for the intro into London.

The MI6 guy standing outside the room looks not unlike Mitchell... slyly implying any other guy could turn out to be a traitor too.

Tanner starts out as a bit of a CR Villiers clone... eventually we see there's a bit more to him.

Machine sponsored by Apple... The Microsoft Table, with voice interface.

Are we really supposed to think this is the SIS building?
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

It almost seems as if there was a plan for the villains to have colour names, as in Reservoir Dogs- Mr White, Mr Greene, Mr Slate- but the plan was abandoned or played down.

I much prefer Michael Kitchen to Rory Kinnear, but nonetheless I'm glad that Tanner was brought back. He is a character that was neglected by the Bond films for too long.

The actor playing slate is damned good. He is completely wasted here.

Agreed, though Kinnear gets better as the series continues.

Kinnear is another damned solid actor... the problem is they don’t know where to place Tanner in the narrative.

Is Port-au-Prince the most empoverised city Bond has ever been in, both in reality and on screen?

Also, the fight in hte hotel room is the one time the Bourne editing really works well.

In a conventional Bond film Bond would be going abroad to have verbal meetings with interesting 'contacts' characters. Here he just slugs it out with a guy and kills him. (What? No chit chat?)

Forster is going for a casting of hotel receptionists and airline check-in women who look like real women.

Again, what happened to Tobias Menzies? Was he not available to reprise his role? He was sure being set up as a regular in CR.

Villiers was a one-shot, replaced by Tanner as a series character.

As with so much in this film, Camille's back markings are never explained.

"You were supposed to shoot her!" / "Well I missed!" Wham! (Calls back to "Exceptionally fine shot!"/ "I didn't know there was a pool down there!" Wham!) Quite funny.

It's not quite credible that Camille would walk straight into the lair of the man she believes has tried to have her killed.

To that point, there's no way that a woman would wear a shirt like that with those scars. Most guys wouldn't either.

True, so we're supposed to notice it... and then it's never explained.

Almaric plays the villan well. The story about the piano teacher is great. It's just his plan that isn't Bondian enough.

The whole thing feels flat and disjointed.... Greene lacks charisma. Almaric is working with what he has been given... but it’s threadbare?

I think he's brilliantly sleazy. I like the down-scaling of the villain's plan... helps make it seem 'down and dirty'
