Calvin Dyson discusses possible directors for bond26 in today's video. Dyson mentions a movie industry journalists named Jeff Sneider who is supposed to be an insider. Sneider has posted on Twitter about the Bond26 director He mentions the usual suspects like Alfonso Cuaron, Christopher Nolan, Edward Berger, Denis Villeneuve and Edgard Wright, but Sneider asks us to keep an eye out of Jonathan Nolan (Christopher's brother) and Paul KIng. Who is Paul King? (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1653753/)He's the director of the two first Paddington movies! He has also made other family movies, including the 2023 live-action "Wonka" starring Timothee Chalamet.
King seems like a strange choice. But like Dyson I see that the Paddington movies are very successful adaptations of a British national treasure. I also found the action scenes to be more exhilarating than many action scenes in movies made for an older audience. I also remember that Brad Bird directed Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, and he too had mainly animated family movies on his CV at the time. Hiring King would indicate a more lighthearted bond movie I think. What do you think?
Yes King’s been more interesting to me than most of the other names for a while (he’s obviously been on the list because of the Heyman connection). He’s only made really good movies so far, and I’d say a Paddington film is closer to being a Bond than something like Arrival or Conclave is.
I'd actually be quite enthusiastic if King gets the gig. His movies are entertaining and, most importantly, very fluent plotwise.
I've no trust in Jonathan Nolan, who wrote some of the movies made by his brother. It's hard to say effective storytelling is something he handles. Nolan clearly lacks deductive skills, one of the main ingredients to make a good Bond story imo. I even wonder to what extent Chris Nolan both writing and directing wouldn't be a better thing than having his brother involved in any way.
I'm sceptical about all of them except maybe Jon Nolan.
Berger has previously ruled himself out and he's supposed to be in pre-production on Brad Pitt's next film.
Denis Villeneuve is focused on Dune Messiah, he tweeted about it the other day.
Edgar Wright is finishing The Running Man remake with Glenn Powell that is out at the end of the year. Wright is also supposed to be in pre-production on a film called The Chain.
Paul King is working on Wonka 2.
Unless they are looking at 2027 or later for Bond26 I can't see any of these guys except Jonathan Nolan being genuine candidates.
As for Nolan, it's possible he could write a great Bond script with his work with his brother Chris, but he's only directed TV up to now. Bit of a risk.

Tapping Villeneuve says Amazon wants a prestige Bond. High-concept, big budget, visually dazzling. That was the big break the Craig era made with everything that came before. I remember Roger Ebert saying the CR was one of the best movies of the year, and then a few years later SF won a couple of Oscars. It’s clear at this stage the camp days of 007 are over.
Well....we are not going back to the Roger Moore era. Now that there is a director on board, it will be interesting to see who the writer(s) are and of course who the new Bond actor will be. Who gets cast as Bond could greatly impact the nature/style of the next film. It's a shame Theo James is probably considered a bit too old now for Bond. I think he would be able to pull off a convincingly tough, physical, deadly Bond while still providing a smoothness, charm and a bit of twisted dark humor to the role.

I don't know how good a source Sneider is. Anyone here who knows anything about him?

And won't he be working on Fallout?
Let the mayhem begin.
Just saw this. Yes indeed.
