I've never read the book but am familiar with various films of this story and recognise a scene here, a character there, though not all from one film in the above. So I'm guessing this is faithful to the book which I suggest is a good thing since the various movies change different parts of the tale to suit their own purposes.

I did wonder about that…it’s familiar but different to the movies I’ve seen too…
The editor was obliged to use the 1943 version as the basis of the tale but as always they put their own slant on it as well, and there is a twist coming in Issue #4!
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
The good news is that the next in the series is going to be…
…the bad news is that it won’t be ready until the end of September. And with the next issue of Department of Truth being delayed this thread will have to go onto something else (to be decided).

There has been some great artwork in this…
@Sir Miles I agree, Martin Simmonds is my favourite comic book artist at this time.

Excellent stuff…😁
In the image where he says "Cleanses it ..." he looks very like Claude Rains.
Yes, it does, Barbel.
UNIVERSAL MONSTERS: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Issue #4 Part 2
To be concluded…
Keeps getting better! That was a brilliant moment.
(The 1943 version was planning to have the Phantom be Christine's dad but dropped the idea. It's there in the subtext, though.)
This has been better than I thought it was going to be 👀😁
UNIVERSAL MONSTERS: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Issue #4 Part 3
Well, the end of another great adaptation of a Universal Monster movie. News tomorrow of what’s coming next in this series.
Agreed, that was a great version. Forgive my stupidity, but why does the cave collapse after the fighting?
Very enjoyable, thanks 😁
I presumed the gunshot triggered the collapse somehow but it’s not very well explained if that is the case.

No worries, I'm sure you'll pick something interesting.
"Blood of the Wolf Man", eh? Sounds promising.
Eric Clapton was reading a copy of The Beano on this album cover and here are the front and back covers from that issue…
The album’s pretty good too!
😅😅😅 I wonder if Clapton kept that comic. He'd be rich now if he did. Oh, wait ....
That’s great…thanks for finding that and sharing 😁
A copy was sold at auction recently for £405.
The Daily Express James Bond strips are well known on this site but this one is the best in my opinion and always worth a re-look.
