Making love to her is the very least Bond could have done to her in that situation. A real life agent would have broken her neck the minute they get into that barn.

I would have been cool with that. That is absolutely what Bond should have done. Good point.

Another issue I have with that scene is Bond seems to have given up on the mission and just wants to get laid. Bond had no clue that "making love" to her will cause her to switch sides.

As far as "baddies turning good", this one was easily the least believable. RM cleverly manipulating Jaws in Moonraker was brilliant and Zorin's betrayal of Mayday was heart-wrenching. Goldfinger lacked "the moment" where Pussy Galore's allegiance shifted.

I have always found that a bid odd. Bond in love with Tracy but he's flirting with the Patients at Piz Gloria :s

Flirting? He shagged them rotten, baby! :))

Did he though, in the novel I can only remember him sleeping with Ruby, but mroe because she was gulable and knew she would blab about what had been going on at the clinic. I never noticed in the film if he slept with more :))

As soon as Bond returns to his room there is another girl waiting for him. He uses the same "you look twice as lovely in the firelight" speech on her as well. Later after the curling match he seems to have scheduled appointments to "meet" with with each of the girls.

I can understand he was trying to pump Ruby for information…but I guess it's up to James to determine how much pumping is necessary, right ? :)

But then that agent who inmediately kills Pussy wouldn't be James Bond, would he? the character is a womanizer.

As for the "had no clue she would switch sides", I think if you believe the Bond character, you'd think otherwise. Specially in the early movies with Connery that mega-alpha-male almost super-human was key. They all fell for him, goodies/baddies and in between, experienced, not experienced...Take that away, and you take away half the character.

Maybe so, but I like your point better about Pussy Galore being the enemy and should be treated as such. Bond fans tend to gloss over the fact that she was a baddie. So what's with all the sympathy?

Then how come your issue with GF is "the rape scene"? She's a baddie, and he has licence to kill, but he's a womanizer too. He has sex with her first, then had she not changed sides and helped him, he would have surely killed her,as he did in other movies. Makes total sense to me.
Apart from that, I do not think it's a rape scene. They are playful first with the judo, and she's attracted to him, although she plays hard to get. Compare it with Marnie. She obviously doesn't want to have sex, never has, never will, as the script establishes. But he does and forces her to. Totally different story.

Casino Royale was practically flawless, in my opinion.

Goldfinger would be flawless, minus the sexist elements.

Virgil, my good man. That was then, this is now. You offered a different perspective on the issue and I changed my mind.

Although TMWTGG has its fair share of issues, I must say that I don't have a single problem with the first 1 hour and 20 minutes of the film. That's actually pretty impressive feat considering I have serious problems with many of the Moore era Pre-title sequences*

Unfortunately, several things go wrong in a very short period of time and the film's reputation suffers accordingly. Mary Goodnight bumbles the Solex recovery and gets locked in the boot, which leads to an incredible poor car chase involving J.W. Pepper and the infamous slide-whistle sound effect.

Things smooth out right away as Bond pilots the ultra-cool Seabee thru the gorgeous Khao Phing Kan islands. I personally wish Scaramanga was less friendly and more knowledgable about his solar operation, but I really enjoy their dinner conversation and ensuing clash of titans.

Unfortunately, the film ends on a weak note with the questionable fight against Nick Nack and the poorly conceived phone call from M direct to Scaramanga's Junk ship. Overall, TMWTGG is still a really good Bond film if you can overlook some obvious flaws.

*My serious single issues with Moore-era Pre-Title Sequences:

LALD- No Bond. (Not to mention lack of Q and the sitcom bedroom farce with miss Caruso)
MR- Jaws flapping arms. Circus music.
FYEO - Bad music. Annoying dialog with Blofeld. (Delicatessen in stainless steel)
    AVTAK - Beach boys song.
