Yes it's a cake because if left out it goes Hard ( OH, Matron !!!) while a biscuit if left out
goes soft ! They even went to court to prove it, as Cakes don't have to pay VAT.

I asked my parents and they said the 80's were the best decade. It was all party and profit for them then. I don't think the excesses of the 80's would've boded well with my personality, but the 2000's/10's for me just seem to have a relatively darker more congested vibe than the earlier decades seemed to have had. Perhaps it's a cloud of 9/11 and such, I don't know.

Well, it's not mostly 9-11. The world economy has been heading for a more even playing field for decades. The internet has accellerated it. MEANING, a lower standard of living all around (except for the richest). Just observe the scrambling to cut payroll & workers whilst increasing production. FEAR is making all the corporations sabotage themselves, and a darker era is the result. The only answer lies in the richest letting go of some savings & INVESTING in the world economy, but that's not likely because he who dies with the most toys wins. So, BUY politicians & grab power & control and seek war for profiteering while watching your world fade away. Same old story. Rome was there.

Back then It was more fiery, more emotionally invested in the moment. Now it's more like a dull acceptance of gradual erosion.

That's a perfect way to put it. The economic situation is proof of that. With most recessions, they're really bad but then they bounce back. The scary thing is that the U.S. isn't in a recession at all (as the GDP isn't contracting). We're just learning to live with a new low.

I think the United States had a total of what, like 40 years, of middle-class based economy (for white people of course) sandwiched in between the gilded era and today amongst its 240 year history?
