I bet it would have worked the same if not better when they did a 5th Brosnan that was serious like FYEO after MR

Yes, it could, and I have no doubt it would have worked. Brosnan would have been fine, it would possibly have been his best Bond film.
MGW & BB, though, felt they'd painted themselves into a corner with DAD and wanted to take a different direction. Whatever any of us may feel about that they have been shown to have been correct with their choices and decisions: commercially they have been triumphant, and artistically the three latest films are generally agreed to be more successful than DAD.

you're right. eventhough I blame the evolution of the digital world on the high success of the last 3 films partially at least :)

And you're right there, I'd say- though perhaps "blame" should be "credit"! :))
Whatever, we should all be grateful that the massive success of the last 3 Bond films has assured the continuation of the series indefinitely. Even with Hollywood accounting methods, Bond movies have been guaranteed moneymakers for over 50 years ( :o ) and show no signs of stopping. There's not many franchises/series/characters etc can say that!

The original story was altered to fit Craig more than it would have been to fit Brosnan. CR becoming available in no way meant that Brosnan had to go.

He never got the opportunity to show how good he could have been, but it's obvious he would never have been the best even if he did have good scripts and directors to work with.

Because Sean Connery exists. I'm a Brosnan supporter, but he doesn't beat The Man.

Brosnan has always been the best Bond for me, and I simply enjoy his style of acting. He has great delivery, timing and some nice little nuances he always brings to his performances. His Bond films may not rank as the most favoured, but that never detracts from my liking of him in the role.

I'm digging the love for Pierce on this thread! Sometimes I think people forget that in 2005, he was still extremely popular as Bond. During that year or so of who was going to replace him speculation, a majority of fans didn't want him to go. I certainly didn't. He was so embraced as Bond one couldn't imagine anyone taking over from him anytime in the near future. Sure, DAD wasn't a favorite by any stretch, but that didn't make me feel he should be replaced. The attitude was, well, the next one will be better.
Pierce had a great balance of the cinematic Bond with Fleming's Bond. Best of both worlds.

Brozzer was my favourite as my kid, I do think he has 4 solid films. It's just that Craig is even better now. 1. Craig 2. Brosnan 3. Connery for me ^^ Still love them all.

Where do Moore and Dalton land for you?

When I want a great vintage, it's Connery.
When I want something fizzy, it's Moore.
When I want the hard stuff, it's Dalton.
When I want a great mixed drink, it's Brosnan.
    When I want it straight-up, it's Craig.
