congrats to OGG for daring to genuinely dislike the iconic Connery films
AVTAK's ending makes Q look like a pervert! It makes me uneasy watching that scene.
Q also is the one who says "I think he's attempting reentry"
and when Octopussy's team warmly greet him as he arrives in the balloon says "not now, girls! er, later, perhaps..."
Q provides Bond with surveillance equipment, so he knows what Bonds really has to do for Queen and country while on assignment, while he's stuck in the lab
I'm sure that's why he starts joining Bond in the field more and more in the later films, he's hoping for some leftovers and sloppy seconds

Completely agree. Years ago there was a British documentary/clip show about the Bond films - this would be some time in the 1980s - which showed the stunt and dubbed over the sound of a revving engine. Improved the sequence immensely.
Other least favourite moments: the use of California Girls in the AVTAK pre-credits was a horrible misjudgement. Also, LALD is one of my favourite Bond movies, but the death of Kananga is my least favourite scene in the whole series. Turning him into a huge, cartoonish blimp robs the character of his dignity. If the villain is reduced in stature then so is Bond himself.

Wasn't he the same guy who said "let me show you exactly how it works?" and proceeded to tell his guards to leave the area to kill Mr Bond?
Hardly a smart move and I think he lost any kind of respect he garnered throughout the movie right there.

Only my opinion, but I love the airport sequence in CR. Full of energy and excitement. With
a brilliant pay off, when Bond deals out some instant justice to the Bomber. -{

OP. I didn't mind it, my Dad who would have been from Cubby's generation
laughed out loud, same with telling the tiger to "Sit" .

I agree with that as well. The train scene in CR has some really good banter between Bond and Vesper,
it's reminiscent of some of the classic films of the 1940s.
And the b&w PTS reminds me of film noir and I think was really well done. I love the camera angles and the way the scenes were framed. The dialogue exchange was very good, the tension was palatable and I love the last bit were Bond interrupts with a well placed shot and says " yes....considerably". B-) Great stuff.

Even if I didn't get the joke, I thought that it was very badass.
GF - Oddjob crushing a golf ball. James Bond having a car that can do allsorts but still doesn't manage to get away.
DAF - Seeing multiple Blofelds who are the same. Not finding out what happened to Blofeld.
MR - Jaws flying from one cable car to the other.
DAD - Graves transformation.
SF - Bond suddenly appearing fine with no explanation on how he survived.
SP - Bond overreacting when the video of White is shown.
GF - ... James Bond having a car that can do allsorts but still doesn't manage to get away.
This to me is a genius part of the film. GF is the film that introduces Bond's over-the-top gadgets, but the moment Bond crashes the car brings the film down to earth to show us that gadgets haven't taken over for Bond. It's not like in Moonraker where he somehow has come prepared with all the right gadgets to get him out of any situation.

In Live and Let Die, he had some very heavy shoes with metal in their heel.
That's quite neat but I think that with the original heel alone it would be more than enough to smash a man's toe with it.
The shin is a classic attack area in self defence, just scrapping your foot down it hurts like hell. Then of course

I've always taught both men and women who are grabbed from behind to thrust their heads back and attack the shins with their heals. Also the closer you are to an attacker the better as their attack is weakened and counter attack is opened up.
Dr. No--The guys on the boat keep asking Bond and his party to come out "or else!" They go no response, so they're like, "Uh, well, guess what?! We'll be back, with dogs!" (So there? Thanks for the warning... 8-) )
TB--The final fight, with the speeded up choreography and rear-projection visuals. What a mess.
TSWLM--I think this one's growing on me. The trouble is, I know and like Lawrence of Arabia. And that damned musical cue while Bond travels in the desert makes my teeth grind.
OP--Tarzan yell. Why? I'm going to mention Bond dressed as a clown, but I have too much fun imagining Dalton starting earlier. "So, uh, Mr. Dalton, this is the scene where Bond disguises himself as a clown..." Dalton: "No. Way." "Ah, we'll just re-write that then, shall we?"
AVTAK--California girls. Uh, ok. Half a car still zooming around? Uh, ok.
LTK--Della 'fridged makes me feel angry and sick.
SP--Bloefeld is Bond's...huh. So, he charismatically had the strength of character, vision and perspective to build an international nightmare in the form of SPECTRE because he's feeling petulant and jealous of Bond? Does that mean that Bond's presence/existence inspired a global-scale nightmare that forever hopelessly dwarves any past and future good that Bond could do for the world? And does mean Bond is no longer just another random Double-O, but the center of the universe? I thought Fleming wanted Bond to be an average, boring, borderline washout of a secret agent.
