Well just back from watching SULLY about the pilot who landed his Boeing in the Hudson and the investigation that followed in 2009. Interesting that they put so much faith in 'the computer says' base on all the data that you could have landed at one of 2 airports (even using piloted flight simulators - whose pilots has 17 attempts before doing the final run). As he said add the human factor and the fact they had no dry runs and had never trained for such an event - after that the result was a given.

The Accountant with Ben Affleck...really enjoyed this movie and my son loved it...it's about a guy that's an accountant (hope I'm not giving a spoiler away there ) who has Asperger's and is usually called in by the bad guys when money goes missing from their 'businesses'...
It's a strange acting roll for Affleck...hard to tell if he's being realistic or just wooden ) like I said, really enjoyed it though -{

I once arrived somewhere hot and very sweaty and while we waiting for our kit to arrive they played this as entertainment - not the best start to a tour I ever had (military humour). Not to worry after 6 months in the sand on the return journey home it was 'Finding Nemo' someone somewhere had a sense of humour!

I travel back and forth usually once or twice a year on the military flight Falklands to RAF Brize Norton that also carries civvies. The in flight Entertainment is always kiddie movies which is kind of funny!!!

Though I can imagine on a flight that long anyone would get bored of that many Disney films!
Use to love them waving goodbye as they buggered off and left us behind (not), but always thankful when they turned up to give us a lift home.

I remember being transfered from the Oslo region to Northern Norway in 1992. We were sitting in the airport lounge as we heard over the PA: "The charter plane of the Defence Forces has now arrived." We looked out of the window and saw a Hercules C-130 transport plane on the termac. The flight was on about 1500 kilometres. There was no in-flight movie, no food and the only reading on offer was a single safty leaflet for all 90 of us
We even had to write down our next of kin before bording ....

Yes and using the in flight toilet can be an experienced shared with all on board! (well those closet too at least)
If you are lucky with that sort of flight most get in their maggots (sleeping bags) and sleep - its the warmest place unless you are in the aircon cockpit with the rest of the crew (step brother was Flight Sgt on Hercs we always discussed how tough it was for them up top)

Watched Jason Bourne last night, OK but I was underwhelmed, and thought the whole old senior company man and young company woman calling from the assets whereabouts a bit overdone, the swat van smashing 50 odd cars out the way also reminded me of a marvel film.... 5 out of 10 unfortunately
Am I wrong to like both films? Yes, Force Awakens was a nostalgic anthology film--but it was a damned good one. Rogue One is an excellent stand-alone film about sacrifice that manages to tie together and strengthen the first two trilogies, and it also complicates and explains a few flaws in the original Star Wars (I've never been able to call it "A New Hope"). Two different films with two different sets of strengths. I'm happy.
The Magnificent Seven (2016). The original 1960 version is my favourite film of all time and I was dreading the remake (yes, I know the 1960 version was a remake itself), especially after seeing the trailer which was awful. But after watching this yesterday it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Washington, Pratt, Hawke and D'Onofrio are all very good even if they cannot match up to Brynner, McQueen, Coburn, Bronson and Vaughn. Peter Sarsgaard makes a despicable villain. Where it falls short is that the gathering of the seven is nowhere near as good as the original. The final shootout is stunningly good and we do get to hear the original classic theme over the closing credits. There are a few lines from the original inserted into the script which are fun to spot. Worth a look.
I agree that the build up to the team coming together was rather lackluster. But the scene in which the Seven take over the town and the final shootout make up for it. Also, Denzel Washington is his usual formidable screen presence and Pratt was an amusing counterpart. Not a classic, but very well worth watching.

I am on a Jean Harlow kick and just finished Personal Property. She was funny and charming in it. You could tell in some shots she was starting to get sick. It is also the first post Hays Code film of hers I have seen and it was different to see her toned down a bit.
just saw La La Land and found it to be absolutely delightful and a pure joy to watch! even as a non-musical fan I was swept up in this film and cant get the music out of my head, I highly recommend it!
im watching (now(the original "The day the Earth stood still " a true classic good old black and white film . This would be my ideal kind of alien encounter a far superior race coming here not to destroy,bu.t to help
I nabbed a load of films off my mates itunes the other day and last night started watching a Liam Neeson type action flick but instead it was John Travolta.
I fell asleep half way as it was so damn cheesy but I must watch the rest at some point because Travoltas "lego man" wig / transplant is so damn bad and hillarious )
Legend of Tarzan , so much rubbish CGI (DAD standard) it is basically a cartoon with a couple of live action bits Christoph Waltz adds another crap movie to his CV along with SPECTRE, this really stinks.
Suicide Squad. I'm one of the apparently few people who thought Batman v. Superman was far better than the dreadful reviews indicated; and I similarly hoped this reviled DC Comics film would be a hidden treasure. Nope. It's incredibly murky--both in its story (I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on) and in its cinematography (I couldn't SEE what the hell was going on). It's also pretty much devoid of fun, with one exception: Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. There's talk of a Harley Quinn movie with Robbie in the lead, and I'd see it--provided the people behind this mess stay away from it!

I agree on the CGI, but I think the new take on the Tarzan story. Sending him from England and back to the jungle given it a new dynamic. Making the Belgias in Congo the villans is also an interesting take on the Tarzan story. Alexander Skarsfjord and Margot Robbie (he Tarzan, she Jane) do a good job. But I think the scriptwriters faller in giving Jane a new role. She spend most of the movie captured and often tied up.
Much better CGI and more work on the script (especially for Jane) could have made this a beyond movie.

and Basil Rathbone Is fantastic.
I preferred all 3 of the other films but there is not a big drop in quality. It's still a very good film.
It's nearly 80 years old and it's still the best Robin Hood film. Agree that the swordfight is brilliant.
