Re: Welcome & Comings & Goings

Hey everyone my name's Paul. I've loved the Bond movies since I was a kid. I'm 27 now, currently living in Newcastle, England. Movies and music are what make me tick. I love all sorts of genres. I collect Blu rays and I'm currently needing more room haha. I'm on Instagram and Facebook. I used to post a fair amount on the f13 community and the Robocop archive. But as I began to work more and more I stopped posting. Now I have the urge/bug to be part of a community that talks about a passion of mine. Look forward to getting to know everyone.

Re: Welcome & Comings & Goings

Hi everyone, my first post so this a good place to start despite having registered forever and a day ago.

Anyway, to introduce myself; I’m old enough to know better but will most likely never grow up.  My main interests are sport (playing and as a spectator), the beach, music (many genres), reading, scuba diving, movies that have a good dialogue; i.e. Dial M for Murder, horse racing and gambling (which goes hand in hand).  I do like a bet but have never gambled at a Casino.  As nice as it would be to play Baccarat and win, whisk Domino away, buy her a drink and hold her in my arms on the dance floor – I unfortunately have to give myself a reality check now and again:'(

Enough drivel from me for the time being.

Looking forward to chatting about all things James Bond (books, films, Bond girls, soundtracks, attire, who portrayed the best Bond etc) and also participating in the off topic section.

Re: Welcome & Comings & Goings

Hey guys! I was asked over in the 'Double Oz Seven' thread (http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/46013/dou … d-podcast/) to introduce myself so given it's taken me weeks to get around to it I thought I would finally do it!

I've loved the Bond films since I was around 10 when I first got to see Goldeneye and of course playing the N64 Goldeneye religiously with friends and my sister. From there on I started watching the films with my dad, seeing my first Bond film The World Is Not Enough in the cinema and everyone since. I remember gradually going through all the films throughout high school with help from my dad who would pick random ones to watch and then eventually falling in love with everything from the action, the gadgets, the humour and of course the girls. I spent a large portion of my time at high school recording all the films from DVD to VHS (I was cheap as a teenager and didn't have a DVD player!) so that I could keep them and I remember even doing a Grade 10 negotiated studies project on Bond where I created my own 'Bond Monopoly' and a big thick Bond encyclopaedia to go with it. I even remember dressing up as Bond for a year 6 book fair parade where we had to go dressed as our favourite characters from books.

As I grew up I went on to appreciate the films and the universe even more and have always held it in my favourite film series. Earlier this year me and two friends who I podcast with on a few other shows decided to start up a James Bond podcast called 'Double Oz Seven' out of the pure love of the series. Slowly we're going through all the films and providing a retrospective of each film and a variety of other things which is expanding my knowledge of the Bond franchise even more and giving myself a new found appreciation for it, including films which I might not necessarily been too high on in the past.

As for personal preferences, I won't go into too many as you'll hate me before I finish writing, but I'm a huge Brosnan fan and my favourite Bond film is easily TWINE and I will admit I'm a fan and defender of Die Another Day!

Now with that bit of info feel free to hate on me more and I look forward to contributing more to the forum and bringing out more podcasts on Bond! ajb007/smile

Re: Welcome & Comings & Goings

Hello all, I've been instructed by Barbel to introduce myself here. My name is Richard and I've been a Bond fanatic for at least as long as I can remember. My first ever Bond film I remember watching was The Living Daylights with Timothy Dalton, and even though the 80's was a great decade for a young boy to grow up in in terms of fantastic action films, the romance and adventure of TLD always stood out for me as something special.

My favourite Bond films are the first 4 canonical ones, especially Thunderball and Dr. No.

Sorry if I seem overly pessimistic about Daniel Craig. Casino Royale is actually up there in my top 5 Bond films and I think its pretty much perfect, but I never warmed to Craig's portayal itself per se of the character, and with his recent criticisms of the character, it has been too much for me to bear.

I wrote an article about it 3 years ago when Skyfall came out, a few of you might be interested in reading it, although please forgive my political meanings, no offence intended to people who think differently than I.
