Did you know king Edward VI took his children (including the current queen) out in the park to teach them how to shoot early in the war? It was most likely in 1940 when a German invasjon was seen as likely. The king felt his family should die fighting if the worst happened and not be executed like their relatives in Russia in 1917.

I don't wish to be padantic N24 but absolutely non of that makes sense.

Edward VI was King during the 16th century and Edward VII was dead by 1910.

George V was the cousin of Tzar Nicolas but he was also dead by 1936.

Other than that, everything add's up :)) :))

By George, it was George VI! :))
I take some small comfort in the fact that Norwegian Wikipedia gets it even more wrong. They list Elisabeth I as Elisabeth II's mother! :D

Glad we cleared that up N24 :))

I know British kings are usually named Edward or George and I felt lucky :))
Speaking of royals and guns: after the war our current king Harald learnt to shoot from legendary SOE agent Max Manus. King Harald is still very fond of hunting, especially elk hunting.

Now with the announcement that Megan and Harry are getting another baby, it could happen that the child one day could become US President and King/Queen of Britain :)) :))

Always nice to hear that the apparently publicity shy Meghan & Harry have decided to keep things low-key by lining up a short chat ... with Oprah. Definitely won’t be many people seeing that then, so they can keep their much needed privacy.

There's a guy living about five km from here who has a small business converting single-prop planes to sea planes. Tonight I discovered he has found himself a red Jaguar E-type! I feel pure envy!

One time king Harald of Norway was making a speech at the annual opening of the Parlament he misspoke (?) and talked about the parlament's "hjerne" (brain) instead of their "gjerning" (deed/task) :))

So, I am sure that many of our UK members are looking forward to tonight‘s interview 😊

Expecting some juicy comments about how useless and spoiled the Royal Family is - this is gonna be good 🤣

On the contrary I wasn't even aware it was on. Have better things to worry about than that.

I can see that Barbel has slightly prepared himself for tonight‘s event.

I have no idea, which camp he will be in

What's tonight's event ? Is it last night of the proms ?

It was either that.....or the priesthood

Count me in with SM, Higgins. No interest, beyond using the Royals as joke-fodder when they appear in the Imaginary Conversations.

I wonder who in the royal family expressed worry about Meghan and Harry's child's skin colour? It couldn't possibly be granddad?

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,317Chief of Staff

The Duke: I wonder if the kid will-

    The Queen: Philip!
