Yes, Aishwarya is arguably the most beautiful woman on earth, but I don't know that a Bollywood actress will ever be in a Bond film--at least not as the main romantic interest. Look at what happened recently when Richard Gere grabbed Shilpa Shetty (sp?--I always have to fight the urge to transpose the I and E) and kissed her on the cheek. Both performers were issued arrest warrants! (Ironic coming from the country that gave us the Kama Sutra and all that X-rated temple art.) What would be the response to Aishwarya mouth-kissing Daniel Craig?

I just Googled Abbie Cornish. Everything looks fine; age, height, talent etc. It's also about time Bond's leading lady is a blond, last time was 20 years ago. But I'm not shure about her looks. She looks good, but not stunning. She is without a doubt much better-looking than most people, but she lacks that extra something to set her apart among many other attractive actresses.

Yes the hotel receptionist was played by Christina Cole, and I agree she was very attractive. I think she's been on some TV shows
    and in Dr. Who lately.
I think for a Bond 22 actress they should choose a relative unknown, as then you don't associate them with other roles. This is another good aspect of casino Royale that most of the actors were "new" to the viewing public.

Whoever she turns out to be, she'd better be careful over she's liable to be overwhelmed by the Craigster's overwhelming manliness. Here's a cautionary tale: :))

HOW MICHELLE BLEW HER BIG CHANCE
    Daily Express
    Thursday May 10,2007
Did the manly charms of Daniel Craig distract actress Michelle Ryan so much that she made a hash of her audition to be Bond girl Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale?

The ambitious former EastEnder, 23, soon to be see in the American TV remake of The Bionic Woman, was so desperate to be a Bond girl that an attack of stage fright meant she fluffed her big chance.

“I did get really nervous when I auditioned for Vesper,” she admits, saying that the proximity of the dashing Craig made her even more anxious. “Yes, he’s gorgeous, and so good. I tried way too hard and completely blew it. I think if you want anything so badly, you blow it,” she tells Glamour magazine.

The role of the ice cool Vesper, of course, went to French actress Eva Green.

I didn't find Caterina very attractive. But that's just me...

Here is a good candidate: Maria Bonnevie, swedish/norwegian actress. She is very talented; she was a european shooting star (just like Daniel Craig) and now she is in a russian film that's doing very well in Cannes. She has also done some very good work in the theatre.
Here is her IMDB profile: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0095013/

    Here are some pictures:

One of the links didn't work, so I'll post this link instead. It's from the "europudding" film "I am Dina". She is a brunette in this, but you can see her facial features ( and features from the rest of her ..) and her acting.

She's kind of pretty. Not a very flattering angle for a picture though. It goes right up her nose. :D Her CV on Imdb looks impressive though.

Maria bonnevie not pretty enough ..... I didn't see that one comming! Well, first some update on her career: much of her theatre work has been under the direction of Ingemar Bergman, she has taken over the mantle of Bergman's muse from Liv Ullman. Bonnevie is also one of the front-runners for one of the major prices in Cannes. "Screen" magazine urges the jury to vote for her.
I find it difficult to find pictures that do her justice. I saw Abbie Cornish in "A good year" last night, and I have to say; If they're looking for a talented and beautiful blonde for Bond 22, hire Maria Bonnevie instead!

Sorry, but I personally don't find her to be particularly attractive. ;)

I agree that Caterina Murino was a great Bond girl. Beautiful, exotic, frisky and a great accent. I was disappointed that she was killed off because I saw alot of potential in her character. *Sigh* But as far as the next Bond girl goes I think that it would be fun to go back to the good girl bad girl motif from back in the day, like in Goldeneye with Onnatopp the obvious badgirl and the other sweeter scientist (I can't recall her name, I suck I know) girl with the big blue eyes. This was a great formula because we got to see James be rough with a woman (which was hott) and also see his "softer" womanizing side. I would like to see Daniel Craig play on these angles because I think it would be a good way for him to let out his frustrations and bitterness caused by Vesper, but then again what do I know, I'm just a female who loves Daniel Craig...

P'S. Totally agree with the Monica Bellucci suggestion, she is an amazing woman and she totally looks like a Bond girl. Maybe I'm just particular to Italian women.

Just realised I had Insomnia on DVD. I had a look at that again. Bonnevie can certainly act. And she has beautiful blue eyes. You're right to say that still photographs don't seem to capture her beauty. I think she might work well alongside Craig. It depends what you want from a Bond girl I suppose. Personally I like interesting looking women, Diana Rigg types, rather than swimsuit models.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,846MI6 Agent
I think Maria Bonnevie would be very surpriced to hear she's an swimsuit model and not a Ingemar theatre trained actress favoured by Ingmar Bergman?:)
I too like Diana Rigg - Tracy was one of the most interesting Bond girls ever. But she wasn't one of the most beautiful in my oppinion. If Bonnevie is interesting looking is a matter of personal oppinion, and we happen to disagree. In the russsian film she represented in Cannes ("The banishement") she has few lines and there is very little spectacle, but she still owns the scenes she's in according to critics. I'll call that good acting AND an interesting look.
There hasn't been a blond leading lady in a Bond film since 1987. I'm not saying there should be a rotation system to safeguard a fair distribution of hair colours of Bond girls, but I would like to see a blond Bond girl again.

I'm impressed you have a norwegian film in your DVD collection! In a world dominated by english-language films and fear of subtitles it's good to know someone makes an effort to broaden their horizon.
I'm slightly less impressed by my poor proof-reading: "not a Ingemar theatre trained actress favoured by Ingmar Bergman" ????

I was actually agreeing with you. :D I've just re-read what I wrote before and it does look like I meant that Bonnevie is a swimsuit model. :))

This is where it all goes wrong. :D

That's not what I intended. I meant to compare Bonnevie to Diana Rigg, rather than the other type of Bond girl, who is chosen because they look good in a bikini. Not that I've anything against women in bikini's. :D

i sort of understood you compared Bonnevie with Rigg, but I got the swimsuit thing wrong. Sorry!
She didn't winn at Cannes, BTW. The film did, but Maria Bonnevie didn't. But she is world famous in Norway now ...

I notice she has made a film with Jim Caviezel, whose one of my favourite actors. It's called I am David. I'm gonna have to seek that out. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of Bonnevie on the international stage.

I agree, I think that while Diana Rigg may not have been the most beautiful Bond girl ever, she was very intriguing and paired well to GL. She was also very stunning in the white evening gown during the casino scene (OHMSS).

Err, OK, perhaps a little too old but Meryl Streep sure is a hottie for her age.

She may not be a bond girl but couldn't she be someone from MI6? Ahh, maybe Moneypenny? After all we did have an older Lois Maxwell. ;)

I thought Emilia Fox might make a decent Bond girl. There's a link here to a website that specialises in selling pyjamas. Fox is apparently the face of the business, (and also the body too by the looks of it :D). She is the daughter of Edward Fox, who played M in Never Say Never Again. I rather like the look of her.

Jessica Alba, depending on the personality of the character.
What counts is what the heroine provokes, or rather what she represents. She is the one, or rather the love or fear she inspires in the hero , or else the concern he feels for her, who makes him act the way he does.

Ehhhh.....I'm not too crazy about Jessica Alba as the next bond girl. She is not the best actress in my own, humble, opinion. Perhaps someone who knows how to play "hard to get" better. ;) :007)
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,846MI6 Agent
I agree. Jessica Alba is incredibly hot and seems like a nice girl, but she is to well known.
When the average moviegoer sees the next Bond girl they should think "Whoa, who is that incredible woman?", not "should we go see Jessica Alba in the new Bond film?".

I have a suggestion for a Bond girl (I don't think she should be THE Bond girl, but more like Solange) She is semi-famous, something that partly contradicts my previous post. I think I'm very good at contradicting my own opinions, and I have done so several times in the past.
I have two reasons for this:
-she is only a bit famous. I think most cinema-goers don't know her, at least by name.
-She has a very interesting and distinctive look

I'm suggesting Estella Warren. Here is her IMDB entry: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005535/
She is very beautifull, but I can't think of a single actress who looks like her. Only Angelina Jolie has more amazing lips, and her face is both edgy and sexy. She has the elegant body of a former athlete (she is a former national-level swimmer) Her figure isn't very voluptous, but she is incredibly feminine. Her acting isn't of the award-winning type, but she's more than good enough for most parts.
And, by God, just look at her! http://www.hormiga.org/fondosescritorio/wallpapers/Famosos/Estella-Warren/Estella-60.jpg

Kate Beckinsale would be a fair choice. She can do action: The Underworld movies, Van Helsing; she's a fine actress. Witness her early performance in Much Ado About Nothing. She's beautiful, intelligent and has a strong screen presence.
If not Kate how about Michelle Monaghan who not too long ago did Mission Impossible III? Also a pretty good actress and very attractive?

A really beautiful woman with lots of talent that definitely has the look for it is Roselyn Sanchez.

She is a hot boricua woman who would be great for a Bond film! She is sorta famous and has done some great independent stuff.

I know her from Without a Trace. I don't think she's a great actress (although I don't think she's as bad as some people think she is) and I also think she is better-looking in this photo than she is on screen. So I will have to say no. ;)

I like the idea of either exotic beauty or a classic beauty in a Bond girl. I don't like the flavour of the month or women that look more at home at the a mall it Minnesota than in Monte Carlo or a fine restaurant. If a girl is cheap, she has no place in 007.

For an exotic beauty, I favor Leonor Valera. You may recognize her from The Taylor of Panama with Pierce Brosnan. I think she would make a fine Bond girl.

I can't vouch for her acting ability, but Olivia Munn certainly looks like she could be a Bond girl.

Monica Belucci would be awesome. Penelope Cruz. Gretchen Mol would be a nice choice. Rachel Weisz, maybe. Vanessa Lengies is another one that might work, even if her previous work has been as a teeny bopper. I think she has a really great look.
