I popped into my local WHSmith again yesterday on my way home and had a better look at this partwork. It's definitely not old stock. It's a brand new publication, different from the original car collection partwork, and it seems to be called 'Bond in Motion'. It had 'Part 1' in a large font on the backing card, and as I said in my previous post, the car is from Casino Royale. I couldn't see the publisher's name anywhere on the magazine or backing card. It's possibly mentioned in the small print on the backing card, but I didn't examine that too closely. I assume the publisher is Eaglemoss, as they've had the Bond licence for partworks in the past.
As it's a limited test at £3 a pop, I would (if I could) buy 10 of them and then put them on eBay for £10 each!

I just hope they stick to cars which weren't covered by the JBCC, otherwise interest will dwindle quickly.

    Thanks for the clarification, sniperUK.

That's very interesting news - maybe we are in for another partwork going on for years? :)

I'd like to see a picture of the new magazine and model if possible - I guess it is the DBS from Casino Royale?

The question is if it is the old JBCC model and diorama with a new magazine (maybe even the magazine has the same content as before with just a new cover page) or a completely new offering?

FACT, I don't think it would be possible to start a new partwork only with new cars. What's left of Casino Royale that hasn't been done before? In the JBCC we had the DBS, Mr White's Jaguar XJ8, Hotel Splendide Daimler DS420, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Defender, Miami-Dade police car and the ZIL. The only one I can remember right now would be the DB5.

If this new partwork is related to the Bond in Motion exhibition it could be 50 issues ("50 vehicles. 50 years." was the tagline when it was at Beaulieu). Many of the shown vehicles have already been released in the JBCC and I guess would be reused unchanged. But the Bond in Motion will from November 18 also include cars from Spectre, and maybe the new partwork will be expanded with the DB10 and Jaguar C-X75. And if they choose to make the new Land Rover then we could also see the Skyfall Defender at last, as both are crew-cab pickups.

I hope the test of the new partwork is successful and although I think that most cars will be reused from the JBCC maybe we will finally get some of the glaring omissions. Although most of the JBCC cars are still easily available on ebay - we must not forget that the JBCC started nine years ago and we now have a new generation of prospective collectors who may never have seen a JBCC model before and wouldn't look for them on ebay.

I'm surprised no examples of a new partwork haven't turned up on eBay yet, but I would imagine for the moment it would be unsold JBCC stock with a new magazine covering perhaps 12 issues. Obviously reprinting the magazines under a different title would be very cheap in comparison to creating tooling for new models, so it's a cost effective way of pushing existing stock to potential new buyers. If it is Eaglemoss though, I don't quite know how they will run two identical series with different titles side by side on their website 8-)

I hope it does well too, it ought to bearing in mind how perennial the interest in Bond and cars is with all sorts of fan groups. I won't be re-buying anything I've already got unless there is a dramatic change to the diorama perhaps, but it would be great to see the obvious gaps in the collection filled (LD non-gadget Vantage and SF Land Rover). Also SPECTRE vehicles and maybe some of the dozens of desireable models we've seen suggested on this thread since the JBCC came to a conclusion.

Eaglemoss has done something odd with the Opel Collection they are running in Germany: they dragged it out to 120 issues (by including all kinds of South American Chevrolet-branded models that really stretched the definition of being "Opel"). Now they have re-branded it as the Opel Designer Collection from Issue 121 onwards, focused on the designers of various models, which of course allows them to re-issue the original models all over again!
So don't underestimate Eaglemoss's ability in this regard! :))

With you on this ... the JBCC was the first and last partwork where I bought all issues ... lesson learnt!

I think you could be onto something there, RW, that would be a very logical link-up. This new partwork would have already have negotiated a licence with EON in order to run the test, but it would be interesting to know whether that licence includes the newer films, and whether Hot Wheels Elite's 1/43 licence excludes all other manufacturers from making a 1/43 model.
(Incidentally, what is happening with Hot Wheels Elite, I heard earlier this year that Mattel was shutting down the brand?).

Back to this thread after a long absence. Also saw the new partwork in a local Smiths (Staines - or Staines on Thames as it now likes to call itself ! :) ). Given that the title is now 'Bond in Motion', perhaps this will open the door for vehicles other than cars to be featured in the run - although there was no indication that this might be the case from my brief look at the packaging.

Vehicles like the Q Boat, Little Nellie, Acrostar and Parahawk were already included in the JBCC although they were no cars.
Not sure if the new partwork would include much larger vehicles that are only shown as models in the Bond in Motion exhibition. But it could be given that the Star Trek and Star Wars spaceships collections have models in all different scales, so a Moonraker shuttle or helicopters could be included.
I would prefer if they'd stick to as few scales as possible - 1:43 for cars and full-size Bond in Motion exhibits like the motorcycles, wetbike and bathosub, 1:72 for all helicopters and 1:400 for planes and space vehicles.

This is an interesting turn of events.

    Bond in Motion?

Highly unlikely that I'd subscribe again though, I'll be cherry picking if this does go ahead. (My wife is going to go ballistic!)

Bathosub? Kenworth?.................. crocodile sub? Cello case? :))

Interesting! I am unlikely to subscribe, but would continue to pick what I like, the way I did at the end of JBCC. However, I don't see how this partwork could be successful, unless it's something completely different from the previous series. Hope one of our members invests the GBP3 (or whatever it is) and can provide some pictures of the model and the magazine... Please! :D

I seem to remember someone talking about 'regional trials' of partworks in the UK way back in the thread, so I suspect many people are probably looking out for it but they may not live in one of these 'chosen' regions. I've phoned all the major branches of WHSmith in my area (central UK) without any success, so it's down to someone else to do the honours. Whoever does happen to find one and very kindly posts some photos will no doubt find their £2.99 investment amply multiplied on eBay as a reward!!

The first is on ebay - bidding starts at £18... :)) (auction pics)

Looks to me like the JBCC model and diorama without any changes, with a new magazine and it is indeed related to the 'Bond in Motion' exhibition. The magazine looks more elegant than those from the JBCC... - No, not again, must resist! :))

Would be interesting to look in the BiM catalogue which vehicles could be reused from the JBCC and which exhibits haven't done before and could/should be added.

    Well done RW! {[]

Here's a little video that may help identify the 50 'vehicles' in the Bond in Motion exhibition. Have a look at 3.14 to 3.17 minutes in and you will see a strong contender for a missing vehicle....................

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPsuYapd4VA

Seriously though, there's obviously room in this particular collection for boats, aircraft and motorbikes (I'd like a 1.43 TND BMW R1200 bike, please Eaglemoss)

    Here's a longer video:

Since it's pretty much the same thing again, I don't expect it will move beyond a regional trial stage.

Hi you all Bond and 1.43 fans!
    Ohh...grow up 007!!
  • jb88jb88 ITALYPosts: 51MI6 Agent
Very happy to see this forum taking some new life...That means the interest in Bond die-cast vehicles id not dormant even in those who own the complete JBCC...
I hope the so called "Bond in Motion" partwork will be worldwide release...It would be possible to have the missing pieces of the previous collection and rhe new cars from skyfall and spectre...
I always thought that the last models provider (IXO as known) has an easy way to produce a lot of models of the last Bond films cause they are producing that models only with different colours and features....defender, jaguar XJ, discovery, the new range sport and they have a partnership with jaguar that could be enforceable to produce the c-x75....
So....I'm dreaming a new collection with all the new models....I CAN NOT STAND SEEING THEM IN 1:32 FROM SCALEXTRIC!!
    Ohh...grow up 007!!

Reading the website are mentioned the Honda CRF from Quantum, the DB10 and another boat from a Craig's film...
Please some news from who lives in GB...

It does appear that Eaglemoss are getting rid of old JBCC stock as suspected, presumably by re-issuing one vehicle per Bond movie on a run of 50 magazines. So maybe we won't see loads of new models in a hurry, but we may at least get a SPECTRE DB10 at some point.

They are trying to suck us in!!!

Unfortunately there is no list of models available, no number of issues, and the models appear to be the same ones as in the previous collection - even the free gifts, which are spray-painted gold for some reason - what were they thinking?

I think those of us who collected JBCC it may be an opportunity to add a few models from Skyfall and Spectre, and that's pretty much it.

    Anyone thinking of subscribing???

I guess they were trying to pick up on the success of the Corgi DB5 (the gold painted one) which may or may not work with new subscribers, who knows? Personally, I think they would have been better off doing something different with the display packaging if they didn't want to spend too much cash. Little Nellie and the Goldeneye tank never had their own dioramas in the JBCC so they could have put them in one each as 'specials' for this new series. Or the DB5 and The Rolls could have been offered not painted gold, but put in matching dioramas from the Goldfinger golf club scene. Or the Acrostar shown in flight......................

Long time no speak and good to see familiar faces and the thread is still alive.

Now I recall speaking to Eaglemoss a few months before the JBCC ended. She did state that there would be a second collection maybe this is what she was talking about. I wont subscribe as it looks like repeats of previous issues but will cherry pick any new releases especially from skyfall and Spectre. Fingers crossed. I miss the original collection and all the talk with upcoming releases, will there be an extention or not. Eaglemoss missed an opportunity with Goldfinger anniversary and Spectre release. The Batman collection was awful and I am surprised it is still going . With the evergrowing wish list and new movies there was plenty of cars to keep collection going. Will pop into my WHSMITH and see if I can get a copy of the new mag

    All the best

Whenever I go to the newsagents, I see some really bad collections going. Most car/truck/train/aircraft collections I have seen have rather poor quality models, not worth paying full price.

Can our UK members confirm if the new collection is available throughout the country? I suspect it is still a trial, just because they have a website does not mean much. There was a 1:12 Routemaster partwork announced a few months ago, it had its own website, but has now disappeared. Shame, as I could have been interested.

I also think that the current price is significantly higher than JBCC, can someone confirm?

Went to see SPECTRE last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, a classic Bond movie in every sense of the word IMHO. There were plenty of people leaving the cinema who were disappointed though, so I guess it’s one you love or hate. I hated Casino Royale because I thought it was more of a morose Jason Bourne than an entertaining James Bond and I also thought it came across as a bit of a drool-fest for those who were only interested in seeing close ups of Daniel Craig with his shirt off. The only thing I liked about CR was the Cornell theme song, which is ironic because the only thing I didn’t like about SPECTRE was the screeching falsetto theme, which reminded me of the Blackadder end credits song. But I did like QOS and Skyfall because of the move back to car chases, shoot-outs, explosions and action more in the style of earlier Bond movies, with less emphasis on Craig’s looks, - and SPECTRE's the same. There’s certainly plenty of great cars, boats and aircraft in the new movie to choose from (including great looking Defender Crew Cabs on steroids) and I could say more but I’d get into spoiler country if I did! I certainly don't think the car fans on this thread will be disappointed. :)

Great to hear that you enjoyed Spectre, MCF, and that there are some great vehicles in it. I have to wait another week before I can get the chance to go see the movie.

Speaking of that Corgi DB5, which featured a fair bit on this thread earlier in the year, I see they (the silver ones, at any rate) are now being sold at Toys R Us stores in the USA for $19.99 (see link). Makes me glad I didn't get sucked into paying silly money for one at the time.

£9.99 per issue from Issue 3 onwards, according to that website's FAQ section.

I saw it last Thursday certainly not SKYFALL but a classic BOND in every sense of the word. Great nods to movies of old, lots of nice cars , vehicles . I believe SPECTRE will be the first bond to have a sequel followed by a new story

Well that's two of us who enjoyed the movie so far, it will be interesting to hear what others make of it when they see it! For those who have seen the movie, some of the vehicles are on the IMCDb site now (spoiler warning, just looking will give a few things away)
Does anyone know if Daniel Craig has definitely signed up for another Bond?

Yep £7.99 . I popped into WHSMITH today and asked about the new part work . They new nothing but they said they normally come out at the start of the year.

Daniel Craig I heard had signed for two more SPECTRE 2 and the new story.
