Recieved my issues 8 and 9 this morning.
The Lotus is lovely - a fantastic model
The GoldenEye BMW looks rather pathetic, the figures are poor and for some reason my car has no licence plates!?

Mine has a rear plate but no front.

I collected my copies of 8 and 9 from the Post Office this morning. They were in a nice cardboard box again and cars and mags were all in pristine condition! Very pleased!

I got both of these models yesterday - my first since subscribing - and I must say that although I agree with you on the Lotus - great detail - especially the Goodyear tyres - I beg to differ on the Z3 Model.

The figures don't look that bad - you probably just notice them a bit more because the car is a convertable. Also if you have a look at stills from the film, or indeed the film itself you will see that there is no front licence plate on the car when Bond is driving it.

For example have a look at the stills on:
    http://www.bmwworld.com/media/bond/goldeneye.htm

As for the rear of the car I'm sure that you can see a licence plate on the rear of the car when Wade speeds off it it - but I can't say for certain as It's been ages since I've seen Goldeneye.

You're absolutely right, there is no front licence plate, and having opened the case and fully inspected this model, there is a licence plate on the rear of the car it was just obscured by the case and diorama backboard.

Picked up the F355 Ferrari from Goldeneye on Wednesday - this is issue 10 and according to my local WHSmith, it is the last one available in the shop. It's possible to do a subscription through them or your local newsagent so act now if you don't want to miss out!

Having seen the pictures of the Ferrari, I thought it looked a little to plasticy, but in fact, it looks superb. Really pleased with that one!

I know how you feel. I subscribed a while ago and I got the Lotus from FYEO and the Goldeneye BMW about 3/4 weeks ago, with the accompanying magazines - and nothing else.

That was until this weekend. We go on a family camping trip on friday night. the weather has been raining a lot and when we return home last night to see a soggy cardboard box on the doorstep - in clear view for all to see - and as a miracle - inside the soggy pulp was an unscathed Goldeneye Tank model.

I really like the tank model - it's great detail of a long overdue Bond vehicle - it's just a shame that it doesn't come on a diorama like the other models.

I will be contacting Royal Mail to complain about the delivery of the package - and thanks to all of you who wrote and complained about the packaging - as if it wasn't for you guys I'm sure that the model might have been ruined!

And as the lack of models is a bit of a concern I think that I'll also be contacting the distributors!

I have been ok. I am completely upto date apart from the latest 2 issues which I was charged for about a week ago.

Why oh why oh why do you continue to bother me Mr Postman?

Following my rant about a package with the Goldeneye Tank being left on my doorstep over the rather rainy weekend whilst we were away - my lovely, beautiful Bond Girl of a Wife returned home from a trip out to find my AVTAK Taxi on the doorstep.

This time it hadn't been raining but once again it was left if plain view on the doorstep for all to see.

I'm just off to find where I complain to the Royal Mail.

As for the model itself - it's great - I especially like the bridge wall on the diorama - which 007 jumps over onto the boat below - superb!

Roll on my next model - if the postman doesn't ruin it for me!!!

I received issues 10 and 11 this morning. The ferrari F355 from goldeneye and the Aston Martin DB5 from thunderball. Both are really nice. The water cannons are pretty cool.

Got mine too - I also like the water cannon effect on the model - and I also think the details on the models are good - especially Xenia's red scarf whilst driving the Ferrari.

I've done well this week - since last Saturday 4 models - I'm now going to have to put a shelf up to start displaying them on!

hello guys, i've just registered because i'd like to comment on this collection.

i've collected model cars for years, mainly F1 cars as that is my main passion, although i buy the odd roadcar now and then.

i'm not a huge fan of Bond movies, i've seen them but am not as clued up as you all will be. i'm just a casual fan really.

i was interested in this collection from when i first saw the ad on tv, and bought the first one and liked it. the magazine was a bit thin for my liking, but it's not practical to send a novel with each model every 2 weeks so it's about right for a part-works collection.

for most of you the info contained in the mags is probably nothing new (as some have commented earlier in this thread), but for a casual fan like me, they provided some good insights into what went on during filming etc.

while i'm not blown away by the quality of the models, i understand we can't expect Minichamps-quality cars for £7.99. it's quite costly if you look at the cost of the whole collection, but if you look at it as just £7.99 per week, then it's not so bad if you take into account how much you might spend on alcohol or cigarettes. i've never smoked, and don't drink anymore, so the money i don't waste on those 2 activities can go into a collection like this.

i bought the first 7 issues from my local WHSmith, i'd go there every other thursday to pick up the latest issue. when it was time for issue 8, they didn't have them stocked in the usual area, so i asked a member of staff if there had been a problem with their delivery, or if they had all been sold. she had no idea so i concluded they'd probably stopped stocking them, and that if people were interested, they'd have probably subscribed by issue 8 anyway.

i'd have preferred to buy each one from a shop, as i noticed that the condition of the magazines varied, some were bent and scuffed, others were perfect, some of the car cases were also scuffed inside their packaging, so buying them myself, i could find a good condition copy. while buying issue 2, i asked the checkout girl if they'd be getting all the issues (i didn't know how many that would be at the time, i thought maybe 25-30). she said she thought they probably would, but they obviously didn't stock them after issue 7.

i thought about asking WHSmith to reserve a copy for me each fortnight by filling in that little form you got inside the first few issues, but i don't think that would technically count as a subscription, so thought i might not receive the 3 special models.

having read that they'd take payment for 2 issues at a time, and finding out it was a 40-issue collection, i decided to subscribe from issue 9, so i'd pay for 9 & 10, then 11 & 12, etc. all the way to 39 & 40.

in the meantime i had to find issue 8 to fill the gap, so bought it off ebay. it looked good in the listing, but the seller packed it reall badly, so the magazine was all bent and creased, the model was fine though.

i checked my credit card account online, and saw that GE Fabbri had charged me £7.99, so i assumed they had changed their policy and were now charging for just 1 issue at a time. but then a few days later i was charged £15.98 for 2 issues, so had payments pending for 3 issues at once.

i rang customer services to ask if they could cancel the £7.99 payment and asked if it was a mistake, because they should be charging £15.98 for 2 issues once a month. the guy said that as i had started from issue 9, payment for only 1 issue would be taken, then the next 2 issues would be charged together, so it wasn't a mistake.

he said that the computer system calculated how many issues to charge you for, depending on which number you started your subscription from. he said that if you start on an odd number, you be charged for 1 issue first, then 2 at a time after that. i told him that would lead to a final payment of £7.99 for issue 40. he disagreed, saying it wouldn't.

i again told him that yes it would, because if they're charging me for issues 10 & 11, then at the end payment would be taken for 38 & 39 together, then payment for a single issue (40) would be last.

it took him a minute to understand that the computer system was wrong, then he agreed with me. he said it was just the way the computer worked it out. i told him that it wasn't the computer's fault, it was whoever programmed it who was at fault, because they had messed up the programming.

i purposely subscribed from issue 9 to make sure i'd be charged for 2 issue at a time till the end, if i had known they'd messed it up like this, i'd have started from issue 8, meaning i wouldn't have had to buy the issue 8 off ebay that was creased and bent...

(but i suppose it's correct in one sense, it can't run in pairs from issues 1-40, because you can't subscribe from issue 1 if you don't know about it in the first place. people buy issue 1 from the shop, then subscribe from issue 2 if they want, so then the payment would go 2&3, 4&5, 6&7, 8&9 etc., then issue 40 on it's own at the end.)

i received issue 9 with model in a box about 10 days after subscribing, and the Little Nellie model came on the same day, although in a separate box on it's own (why they didn't put Nellie in the same box as the BMW Z3, i don't know).

then a week later, i received another box with just the Renault 11 taxi inside. the day after, i received issues 10 and 11 in a single box, now they're using their brains, sending 2 issues out at once in one box saves boxes and postage costs for them.

issue 11's magazine hadn't been laid in the box properly, so was bent and had taken the shape of the corner of the box, not very clever of the person who packed it. i've also kept all of them sealed in their plastic packaging. i've got them in rows of 4 stacked on top of each other, they'll be nearly touching the ceiling come the end of the collection!

so far i'm all up to date, just waiting for the tank which will no doubt arrive when the next batch are sent out. no broken or cracked cases yet (touch wood).

as someone commented in the other thread, they're now sending them 2 issues at a time every fortnight. that's good because instead of taking more than a year to complete the collection, it'll now only be approximately 7 months.

I subscribed from issue 2 and got a letter from the distributor a few weeks later, setting out the payment schedule for each despatch.

I have been charged £15.98 for each issue despatch to date (I have now received up to issue 11) and have just checked the letter again tonight. I will only be charged £7.99 for issue 40, on 1 July 2008.

You are quite right - I hadn't noticed that before. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Well, just picked up my DB5 from WHSmith. I was a little miffed when I discovered there would be about 4 DB5's, but the water cannons really make up for that!

Can anyone advise me what the other two DB5's are going to be? I've got the issue one goldfinger DB5 with the Tyre Slasher in action - and I've also got the Thunderball one with the water cannons spraying their stuff.

Come to mention it... does anyone have a complete list of all the models that are going to be featuring as part of the collection???

Here's the link to the full collection, as posted a couple of pages ago. Number 27 and 40 are DB5's also, so 4 in the collection in total.

I think I'm looking forward to CR's DBS.

From what I know from France, the 3rd DB 5 is also a Goldfinger model, tis time with bullet holes in front window, rooftop open, without passenger on a very nice "Auric Enterprises" Diorama.

one of the db5s is the one from casino royale, i personally cant wait for the DBS i love that car
  • Aston Martin DBSAston Martin DBS Derbyshire, EnglandPosts: 659MI6 Agent
Thanks to the replies bout the DB5's and thanks for the link to the entire list of all 40 - how I missed that I don't know!

having just read trough the line-up of cars to come, I have a few questions to ask:

The MGB from TMWTGG - why not the flying AMC Matador? Did they think they'd have trouble doing a Nick Nack figure in scale? However we do get the AMC Hornet - but will it be displayed upside down in the diorama?

The Cadillac Eldorado from LALD - is this Whispers 'Pimpmobile'?

Range Rover Convertible from CR - wasn't it Land Rovers that Le Chiffre and his men drove in the first scenes after the main titles? After all it was raining - so what good would a soft top be?

Despite the above niggles - I can't wait to get the full series - BRING IT ON!!!

i dont think the amc will be upside down but it may be angled on the ramp. i would much prefer to have the mondeo from casino royale instead of the land rover, cos i think the land rover is ****e. another question is, where are u guys storing yours, ive got mine laid up as two rows of five on top of each other. but once i get twenty models i will have run out of room. i was thinking of puttin some shelves up over my bed and putting them on there. HELP!!!!!
  • Muks_CMuks_C Preston, Lancashire, UKPosts: 100MI6 Agent
i thought there'd be a GoldenEye DB5, but i guess if they do one for Casino Royale instead, it'll be the same model in effect, just with different graphics on the base.

i've currently got my collection in 3 rows of 4, with Little Nellie on top placed on the side of the box, so the vehicle is oriented the correct way with the other cars.

how did you get the uncut Renault taxi? is that a manufacturing mistake or is it part of the collection?

I cannot remember where I got it from but it wasn't a manufacturer' fault.

My model is identical to this one.
